The NASB does have a footnote for the use of the word, "world", in Hebrews 1:2 saying it is literally "ages". The NET Bible in its extensive notes gives us, "Grk “the ages.” The temporal (ages) came to be used of the spatial (what exists in those time periods). See Heb 11:3 for the same usage". The word can be used to convey: 1) for ever, an unbroken age, perpetuity of time, eternity 2) the worlds, universe 3) period of time, age.
@Keruaran True. Well said. So it's even more strange that KJV picks Hebrews 1:2 as 'worlds', when in nearly every other instance aiwn is used, they correctly translate it with 'age' or some other TIME EPOCH meaning. So someone was asleep, when translating Heb1:2, no big deal. We all make mistakes.
And this is one, in the KJV. So the KJVO should admit it. And frankly, people should stop giving KJV creedence, using 2) as if it were a valid definition. It never is.
@brainouty I think the NET Bible translators were conveying that in some cases "world" is a reasonable translation though the Greek word conveys more than any single English word can so they (along with many others including the NASB translators) chose what is easiest and makes most sense to them when rendered in English.
@Keruaran Agreed, on why the NET people chose the term, and even more agreed, they are WRONG to do it. They CUT OUT the heart of the meaning of the term, and that's bad. You don't accurately translate when you take a secondary idea, and cut out the primary one.
@brainouty As far as KJVO's go, I regard them as a cult that brings the gospel into disrepute. I'm not sure if you're already aware but James White has been involved in a regular ministry to Mormons in Salt Lake City since 1983. After more than 25 years there they pulled out becuase KJVO's were now showing up with their placards, abusively yelling at people and attacking their ministry as well, destroying 25 years faithful work for the Lord. They will answer to God for hindering the gospel.
@Keruaran agreed, KJVO is a cult. I try to be as nasty to them as I can, when they show up in my comments. There is a time to be nasty, which my fellow Christians usually don't understand. This is that time: KJVO are vile cockroaches in Christianity. Saved, but oh so apostate. They are out to destroy the very Words Jesus Learned, Spoke, commissioned through the Spirit be written!
@brainouty Because of the damage they are doing I do not believe we should afford KJVO's any respect. I also believe the problem of KJVO's has become serious enough to warrant Churches and Church leaders publicly rebuking and comprehensively refuting their arguements in a very formal way. Their poison has spread globally; I've had confrontations with people here in Australia who are influenced by the likes of Riplinger and who are for the most part unreceptive and unrepentant.
@Keruaran Agreed. That's why I made 72 videos exposing the KJVO. I won't fellowship with them, I won't talk to them except to insult them. They are the worst sect in Christianity. Bar none.
@brainouty And of course it denies dispensations. A dispensation is to dispense or bring something forth. It is not a period of time. 90% of King James people are dispensationalists. I am not among that camp.
@NewVinland Of course you are not of that camp. You cannot discern between BIBLE WITNESS and teaching, so you cannot discern the longstanding BIBLE TEACHING of dispensationalism either, which God begins accounting in Genesis 5. Jews have their own names for the dispensations, but you can't even Google to find them out.
Honestly, so many weirdoes comment on my videos I wonder why I bother to rebut them.
@brainouty Dispensationalism was started by people in Satanic clubs. You worship the Jews just to be raptured before the tribulation. It is a sad teaching.
@MattNicholson7 There is no one translation you can use, and no one manuscript, either. You need a collection. Only in the aggregate do you have inerrant Bible. In agg, there will ALWAYS be at least ONE copy of the verse, perfectly preserved.
The software I use in this video is one such collection. It has all the major MSS text families, not merely the TR. As for translations, I think there are over 200 of them, not merely the English ones. You can find out more at bibleworks(dot)com.
@MattNicholson7 It's superior, because you need more manuscripts to see what's a valid copy of any one verse. There are 24,000 such manuscripts. They have many similarities, but important differences. They end up forming families of texts, such that you can tell which copy came from which 'parent'.
You should have learned all this from the earlier KJVOB videos. I suggest you go backwards to the 'textual criticism' videos.
@brainouty Which english translation most accurately translates the textus receptus? And why don't you make an english translation of the aggregate?
Why do you say I can't use any english translation? I don't know Greek therefore I have to use an english translation... I am asking you which is the best to use.
@MattNicholson7 I never said you can't use any English translation, I said you need to use a bunch of them, never only one, please read my previous comment again.
This topic was also covered earlier in the KJVOB playlist, video on how God's Word is a TEAM; it will be covered again at the end of the 1/6 Which Bible? robot-character video.
@MattNicholson7 re your other query, why don't I make an english translation of the aggregate? Because I won't live long enough. :)
It's not possible to make a 100% accurate translation. Everyone knows this, so at best translators try to do as best they can with what they have. See the preface to the 1611 KJV, for a sample disclaimer which you can also find at the beginning of any English Bible.
Hence God preserved ALL the texts: it's DIVINE WRIT, so can't be translated 100% accurately.
@MattNicholson7 Learning the Greek is easy. Took me only 18 months to learn to write it, while merely listening to my own pastor teach Bible 7x per week. He'd show how KJV was mistranslated as he exegeted each verse. So by that time I knew maybe 200 Greek words. I never studied outside of the one-hour class, either. Whole congregation learned it that way.
Which is why I know edwardpf123, who alleges to have studied 20 years under my pastor yet doesn't even know what a declension is, lies.
@MattNicholson7 Please read my previous comment again, 'who alleges' clause. It was covered in Episode 2 of the playlist. You can also find similar content from labarum312, ancienthebreworg, MODERATECALVINISM, and you can look at KJV mistranslations in my James 2 Exegesis playlist, yet he doesn't say anything in his comments.
That James 2 playlist would be a handy way to get your feet wet in Greek, see for yourself how easy it is to learn. And QUITE DIFFERENT from translation. :)
@MattNicholson7 Having said what is negative about him (a thing long public, not 'behind his back', as you'll see) -- let me say something positive, to balance the remarks. He often gets basic doctrines right, but he doesn't know WHY they are right, since he can't read the Greek, though claims he can.

The Bible tells women to not even teach like this. No wonder you're teaching false doctrine. You do NOT have the blessing of God
NewVinland 1 year ago
@NewVinland Showing the Bible onscreen is not teaching. It is witnessing. You don't know the difference, so the Spirit is not in you. Bye.

Ok so which English translation is best to use if not the KJV?
Are you also saying that the textus receptus is the best manuscript compilation to use?
