The guy reviewing this game...it's like he has no idea what it's about, the story, or how the game is actually played. Do some research before you review a game. And the chainsaw stuff. I guess it's possible that was true when the game came out, but I definitely don't remember it that way. The GoW 1 chainsaw was highly balanced. Now if he was talking about the gears 2 chainsaw, then everything he said was accurate.
Microsoft did nothing for this game except making it part of their "Games for Windows" thingy. The game was made by Epic Games and the PC version by People Can Fly.

GOW 2 is a very good game, one of my favorites, but in my opinion you just cant beat GOW 1. The online play is just so smooth and the controls in the first one just feel like you have better control of your character i didnt like the way you run in the secong it feels alot slower but it good nonetheless, if GOW 1 had horde it would be untouchable!
Actualy you should buy Gears of War 2, not 1, it is the best game I can think of. I can guarantee you will enjoy this game too. Plus I don't think the storyline is short at all! And if the game is 4 on 4 in multiplayer than why would you need a vehicle in the first place! If there was then everyone would complain about how quick each match is!

I started online play on gears 1 and 2, 2 days ago and I really suck. I only manage to get 1 or 2 kills and a few takedowns and I keep getting killed really easily by all these other nerds. Does it take a while to get used to? I've completed both gears 1 and 2 on hardcore so I can play! but I'm new to this whole multiplayer business, never played any game online until now and it's totally different game altogether. Could someone give me some tips please???

Both Gears games are among my top 10 fav games ever. Gears 1 is a little higher though, because the multiplayer is better {IMO}, and it's just more fun.

Gears 2 is better altogether than Gears 1. Gears 2's multiplayer mode is a lot realer and easier to pick up and play then Gears 1 was. Gears 1, if you were good with the barrel roll+ shotgun shot technique, then you are unstoppable. Gears 2, you will more than likely die in different ways to skilled players. The campaign is WAY better in the second Gears because it's deeper, the story is more impelling(Dom and his wife) and much longer....ALL IN ALL, if you got the money to, buy Gears of War 2.

Or they're stuck with Gears 1 because they can't afford Gears 2...always a possibility. Take out a pistol(or anything other than the Lancer), shoot the person coming at you chainsaw revved and it'll stop them from hitting you. I rarely get in chainsaw battles only because I keep the shotgun and sniper rifle on me at all times. Gears 2 is a lot easier for people new to the series to pick up and play and difficult enough for skilled players to rank up. Try and get the highest rank, takes some time
look at calmosityyy and all the famous gears of war players. they all still play one because 2 is terrible. way to many glitches, and b button is everybodys best friend in that game.
I've already cleared up the whole "B button" situation. Isn't it a possibility that they stay on Gears 1 because that's the game they are known to play? They're GREAT at Gears 1, doesn't necessarily mean they'll be great at Gears 2. Maybe it's because Gears 2's multiplayer is so much more different then Gears 1, they are like you...they decide to stay with Gears 1. Still...in my opinion, I'd take Gears 2 any day of the week.

No you only get insane achievements when doing insane campaign. You're going to have to go back and finish it on hardcore to get the hardcore achievement.

Both Gears games are among my top 10 fav games ever. Gears 1 is a little higher though, because the multiplayer is better {IMO}, and it's just more fun.

i def like gears 1 better. gears 2 is just a transitional game with story development tht was absent in the first and new weapons, like the flame thrower. maybe they should try 2 make the shotgun alot less effective. its a cheap kill, u dont even hav 2 aim! i think gears 3 will b better than both of em b4. nd they need 2 put an end boss in again, not just a few waves of monsters.

I agree that Gears 1's campaign was a bit better than gears 2 but gears 2 has great multiplayer, great horde and includes bot matches and plenty of updates and achievments to keep you busy

Gears 2 is better altogether than Gears 1. Gears 2's multiplayer mode is a lot realer and easier to pick up and play then Gears 1 was. Gears 1, if you were good with the barrel roll+ shotgun shot technique, then you are unstoppable. Gears 2, you will more than likely die in different ways to skilled players. The campaign is WAY better in the second Gears because it's deeper, the story is more impelling(Dom and his wife) and much longer....ALL IN ALL, if you got the money to, buy Gears of War 2.

not really. if want to play a game that takes skill play 1. all gears 2 is, is a bunch of b button mashers which ruins the game and the way its supposed to be played. plus all the skilled players stuck with gears 1 because all the noobs play gears 2

Or they're stuck with Gears 1 because they can't afford Gears 2...always a possibility. Take out a pistol(or anything other than the Lancer), shoot the person coming at you chainsaw revved and it'll stop them from hitting you. I rarely get in chainsaw battles only because I keep the shotgun and sniper rifle on me at all times. Gears 2 is a lot easier for people new to the series to pick up and play and difficult enough for skilled players to rank up. Try and get the highest rank, takes some time

look at calmosityyy and all the famous gears of war players. they all still play one because 2 is terrible. way to many glitches, and b button is everybodys best friend in that game.

I've already cleared up the whole "B button" situation. Isn't it a possibility that they stay on Gears 1 because that's the game they are known to play? They're GREAT at Gears 1, doesn't necessarily mean they'll be great at Gears 2. Maybe it's because Gears 2's multiplayer is so much more different then Gears 1, they are like you...they decide to stay with Gears 1. Still...in my opinion, I'd take Gears 2 any day of the week.

if you've been playing the gow1 multiplayer since 06 like me you would think gow2 is shit, but i love horde mode..i own both, i like both campaigns but gow1 execution and warzone are way better than any gow2 multiplayer mode.

No you only get insane achievements when doing insane campaign. You're going to have to go back and finish it on hardcore to get the hardcore achievement.
