maybe you should do your job and read politifact and other fact check which call this statement an utter lie. 2-4 million jobs have been created by the stimulus according to many neutral sources. The fact that I have to spend 5 minutes of my time cleaning up after the despicable bullshit that you smear, Mr. Boehner speaks poorly of you and your party.
well lets just say we can blame Americans for no jobs... when you buy everything made in China then thats who has the jobs... start buying American made
The ONLY way to bring jobs back to America is to lower the minimum wage to $2/hr.
This is the only way we can compete with China. Paul Ryan, John Boehner and my fellow republicans need to act on this now. Employers also should not have to carry the burdern of paying for health care either. Go get em John!
hmm. he thinks small business is the engine of our company, yet he wants to repeal tax credits for small business to purchase health insurance for their employees? bipolar a bit much?
@surfsalem7 - And what are they doing to block them? We still have the Bush tax cuts......no jobs. Never created a lot of jobs to begin with. A grand total of 3 million jobs by 2008 as opposed to Clinton's grand total of 23 million jobs. Even Carter created more jobs than Bush Jr.
@A86 this isn't a defense of Bush Jr. if you think it is, that's probably why you think Dems actually create jobs. Furthermore, the fact that you think Clinton created jobs versus the Repubs in Congress at the time because that is where the real power under the constitution is... and should be had it not been for Bush Jr. changing it and Obama not going jack shit to change it back. It's hilarious that liberals complain about Bush though when Obama is just like him as far as the economy goes.
@surfsalem7 - I think the Dems have created jobs because jobs were in fact created under Clinton whereas the tax cuts have created very little growth. Even Reagan rolled back tax cuts.
"versus the Repubs in Congress"
Reality check: there was a tax hike under Clinton. So, what exactly did the Republicans in Congress do to create jobs? Hm? Should we thank the Democrats who ran Congress under Reagan for creating jobs in the 80s? You need to start backing up your rhetoric with economic data.
@surfsalem7 - Actually I have already given a few figures to back up what I'm saying. Under the Bush Administration the national debt grew from $5.7 Trillion to $10.6 Trillion. Tax collections were at an all-time low for much of his administration. Even from 2003 to 2007 (which was when tax collection revenues were the highest under Bush) tax collection revenue only accounted for as much of the US GDP as the 40-year average. So Bush only experienced a brief return to mediocrity.
@A86 oh, and furthermore... you have to be correct when you try to "back up" what you say. That's a common tactic liberals use, they think they can throw out rhetoric and just make up something to "back it up" without an regard for the truth.
@surfsalem7 - It's a common liberal tactic to back up assertions with facts? Lol So conservatives don't believe in using facts?
The facts are the Bush tax cuts have created weak growth (at BEST) and at worst helped double the national debt from $5 Trillion to $10.5 Trillion between 2001 to 2009. Clinton and Reagan both raised taxes with few adverse effects. In actuality they experienced a lot of job growth (though Reagan's tax cuts did help expand the debt).
@A86 oh, shoot I should have also mentioned that you should seriously read my entire comment... what you need to do is the "facts" you use must be correct. Read my comment again because you got what I said all wrong (not surprising though). So you can say all you want, but it being correct is a totally different thing.
And you are falsely claiming that tax cuts are what lead to our recession... lol wrong dude, it was the housing crisis brought on by, you guessed it, Democrats :o
@surfsalem7 - "it was the housing crisis brought on by, you guessed it, Democrats"
This is some historical revisionism if I've ever seen any. The Housing Crisis was mostly brought on by Bush and Hank Paulson's Zero Down-Payment Loans and the American Dream Initiative which handed out sub-prime loans with loan shark interest rates to anyone and everyone no questions asked. The CRA loans have been in effect since the late 1970s without much incident for most of its history.
@A86 Its always Bush. Well guess what, the rest of the nation has moved on Democrats. It's Obama and it's his responsibility. Republicans are only doling out what they were given. So if you can't take it, don't dish it.
@itsjustme2919 - Uh, reality check: being out of office doesn't make the ramifications of what you did go away. Republicans STILL whine and bitch about Jimmy Carter and the effect some of his policies might still have even though he's been out of office for 30 years. Republicans have been actively either blocking or manipulating most of the policies the Democrats have passed. Since the beginning of this year the Republicans are in control in the House and get to pass some policy.
@A86 Yes, they have been blocking most of the policies as Democrats have been blocking most of the Republican policies. Astute observation. Genius really. Democrats have had control of the houses much more than Republicans, and don't make me pull out history books and start citations. You will get ground up and blown away. As far as the bitching about Jimmy Carter goes, I don't hear many people doing that. But historians agree he was the worst President ever. Nice guy, just in over his head.
@itsjustme2919 - "Democrats have had control of the houses much more than Republicans"
When? The Republicans had control of Congress under Bush I, part of Reagan's Administration and most of Clinton and Bush II's admin. From 1977 to 2007 the Republicans were in control the majority of the time (22 years in the executive branch and 20 years in the Senate of those 30 years). All this time and no serious attempt to solve CRA's problems. Though CRA wasn't even the main culprit.
@itsjustme2919 - It was the Republicans' idea to continue to the Bush tax cuts and Obama caved in and went along with it. I put full responsibility on Obama for where he has failed (like continuing the Bush tax cuts which aren't doing a damn thing to create jobs) but that's something I rarely see Republicans do: admit fault. If something bad goes on under their watch they usually either try to defend it or their programmed response is "It's the Democrats' fault".
@A86 Yes, because Bill Clinton admitted fault when he had that affair with Monica. Ted Kennedy admitted fault when he killed Mary Jo Kopechne. Oh and the big one: Lyndon B. Johnson admitted fault when he knew Vietnam was not going to be a success. Yes. The Democrats. The party of transparency, and ethics. Obama has nearly every record of his past sealed in a vault. Yes, the Democrats are always so open and truthful I totally agree with you.
@itsjustme2919 - Actually Bill Clinton did admit it eventually while in Office (and the Republicans STILL wasted taxpayer money investigating it). More than I can say for Mark "Pedophile" Foley. Laura Bush never admitted fault for her fatal car crash. Richard Nixon never admitted fault for the failure of Vietnam, the uselessness of it or the Gulf of Tonkin lie.
"Obama has nearly every record of his past sealed in a vault"
Is that why it's viewable online? Another fucking birther.
@A86 Okay, well I guess Anthony Wiener is a saint then. Laura Bush did admit fault for crash have you read her biography? Obama's past drug use. (everyone attacks Bush for it, but I guess Dems have lower standards) Richard Nixon didn't have to admit fault he brought the soldiers home while Lyndon Johnson sent them KNOWING it was going to be a failure! Get another fucking clue.
While the job wasn't done and knowing it probably couldn't be done. That's just as bad as sending them over initially. LBJ had the graces to admit failure and bow out and not run for reelection. Nixon never admitted to failure or took responsibility for re-activating the failed war.
@A86 No no not the birth certificate. I don't doubt he's a citizen. Whether or not Obama Sr. is his father is another story but that doesn't mean anything. I meant the college records etc. Thats what I mean. Those are not viewable online. Every other candidate had to share records. Sara Palin had to share emails (which nothing juicy was found in). So please read before you argue.
@itsjustme2919 - But of course Democrats blame past Presidents too. My point was that blaming past Presidents is nothing unique to Democrats or liberals. Both parties/sides do it when it's convenient.
"I meant the college records etc"
We haven't seen Bush or Kerry's college records either. Just reports of what their records supposedly say. I can't find copies of any other candidate's college records either. Obama did become Law School President. He must have been at least okay.
@itsjustme2919 - And let's not forget the most transparent Republican policy of all - the Patriot Act. The most constitutional act of transparency in American history.
@itsjustme2919 - Haha I could go on. The illegal War in Iraq, the useless War in Afghanistan, the questionable Gulf War, getting rid of the Glass-Steagall Act, the Bush bailouts of 2008, the disastrous Zero Down Payment Act that fostered the housing market crash of 2007-2009, the unconstitutional DOMA, the unconstitutional Citizens United Supreme Court decision, the unconstitutional decision by the 5 conservative Justices of the SCOTUS to ban DNA evidence to clear the wrongly convicted, etc.
@A86 Do I need to get the list of dems that voted for those things? Remember 9/11? Dems wanted to go to war too. Iraq? Dems too. (before and after 9/11, check soundbytes during Clinton era calling for war in Iraq). Libya? What is that? So yeah keep trying my friend. You're not making much progress.
@itsjustme2919 - Yeah, and that's why I don't trust the Dems either. Unlike you I don't have a party. I have no dog in the fight.
"Laura Bush did admit fault for crash"
She did so publicly (years after the fact)? Did she make any restitution? Ted Kennedy plead Guilty to leaving the scene of the accident, which is taking some responsibility. I haven't heard of Laura making any legal motions to take responsibility. Obama admitted his drug use just like Bush did.
@surfsalem7 - If you want to blame the Democrats for implementing the CRA you could also blame the Republicans for none of them repealing the CRA in all these years (such as Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. leaving it be). Blaming the CRA is also a red herring as the majority of the delinquent loans were not even given by the CRA:
@surfsalem7 - Now, earlier you claimed job recovery is being blocked by the Democrats. Back this up with data just like you wanted me to do about my claims. Prove that the Democrats are preventing more job growth and specify what exactly they're doing that's supposedly preventing job growth.
@A86 no matter what I put you are going to bullshit and try to act like you have "data" to disprove me, I say that because... that is exactly what you are doing right now. And then when I point out the true facts, you have more excuses (i.e. the CRA). You really think I listen to what Ron Paul has to say? Think again. I never even said anything about the CRA, you just hoped so badly that that would be my argument. But then again, no surprise as liberals love to assume and try to make it true.
@surfsalem7 - You've presented no data to back you up and the data I've presented directly contradicts you. Therefore, we'll assume what you're saying is bullshit until you back it up. QED
"I never even said anything about the CRA"
Then in what way(s) did the Democrats cause the Housing Crisis? Hm? Lol @ you assuming I'm a liberal. This may come as a surprise to you but not everyone is a liberal or conservative. I'm neither.
@surfsalem7 - I read your comment and it was simply you bitching about me asking you to provide evidence to back up your claims. You said I'm going to call bullshit no matter what which is blatantly false. Provide some irrefutable facts with data and you'll shut me up.
Then you said something about Ron Paul (don't know why) and claimed you weren't associating the housing crisis with the CRA. I asked you what do you associate it with and I'm still waiting for you to answer and stop stalling.
@surfsalem7 - That made zero sense. I backed up my statements with evidence, you did not.
Typical right-wing ideologue. Full of nothing but hot air and noise and has to resort to bullshitting to get out of a debate when they get cornered on their bullshit.
You didn't back up anything, you use liberal talking points (claim you are neither liberal nor conservative, sure), and what me to provide data like there's an attachment button on the YouTube comments that allow for anyone to submit all the data and the documents necessary in order to prove a point.
Take you're last statement and point it towards yourself then you will be correct.
@surfsalem7 - I provided a study of the CRA loans which showed they weren't responsible for the housing crisis and I listed the tax collections accrued during the Bush Administration. Not only did the tax cuts fail to bring in much revenue the total job growth during the Bush Administration was 3 million. So the Bush tax cuts have absolutely no correlation with job growth.
You claimed the Democrats are blocking job growth and claimed the Democrats created the housing crisis.
@A86 so just tell me (and try to do so without lying now) who was the study done by? I would look myself but unfortunately the "link" did not work. And yes I know that it will not let you do it unless you space it out, and blah blah blah. Yeah, doesn't work. I would bet that the "study" is just so darn far it's not even funny...
For one, you cannot provide any true sources that say the tax cuts caused the recession, because it was the Dems and the subprime mortgage crisis. Period.
@surfsalem7 - The study was done by Traiger & Hinckley Law LLP.
The tax cuts in and of themselves didn't cause the recession but they sure as hell did not help. They helped increase the deficit and they created weak incentives for domestic job growth. Since businesses got a tax cut they had no incentive to spend the extra revenue on hiring new workers.
(.) cbpp (.) org / cms / index (.) cfm ? fa = view & id = 3241
The article is called "Letting High-Income Tax Cuts Expire Is Proper" by CBPP.
@A86 right there is a reason to doubt because it's from a law firm... hello, lawyers. Oh my gosh, if you think that any law firm is not in the tank for Democrats and do there bidding. Just go to open secrets dot org and find out.
Please, that right there is a red flag if there ever was one.
@surfsalem7 - And there is reason to doubt this study, why? What conflict of interest exists with a law firm dealing with housing issues? This law tank has no affiliations with the Democrat party. Enough with your bullshit excuses by claiming anything that isn't from some right-wing organization is invalid.
I provided another study from the CBPP which uses data from the CBO, the Department of Treasury and the Department of Labor. You have provided NOTHING linking the Democrats to the crisis.
@A86 I already told you... goodness, why can't you read my comments correctly, or at least all the way through?
You saying that a study done by a law firm is full proof for you would be the equivalent of me saying that I believe Dems caused the housing crisis because Glenn Beck told me so... it means nothing.
And you saying they don't have any ties to the Democratic Party, just more of the same BS. You don't know how studies work do you?
@surfsalem7 - False equivalence. You have provided absolutely no reason why the Traiger study is invalid (we both know it's because you don't like what it has to say). I just quoted the Wall Street Journal on the same subject and it came to the same conclusion.
What ties does Traiger Law or the Wall Street Journal have to the Democratic Party? None.
You set standards for ME to go by, yet do not follow your own standards. You want me to proved data after data to "shut you up" which you wouldn't do even if I did, yet you don't even have any correct data to back up what you say... you have talking points. Nothing else.
@surfsalem7 - You have provided not a single shred of data to back up your claims. If you want to claim you supported your claims with facts then quote yourself and list them. Otherwise shut the fuck up and stop wasting my time with your false equivalences and stall tactics by claiming I didn't support my claims as a justification for you having nothing to back up your claims.
@A86 and you have only provide one study, done by a law firm (conflict of interest). You have proved nothing and will not because you only see one point of view, you would not even give me any credit for anything no matter what.
So take your own advice. So, "shut the fuck up and stop wasting my time with your false equivalences and stall tactics by claiming I didn't support my claims as a justification for you having nothing to back up your claims." Right back at you.
@surfsalem7 - In fact, I'll quote the officials on the subject.
(.) jct (.) gov / x - 51 - 01 (.) pdf
The Joint Committee on Taxation estimated that the 2001 tax legislation would cause government revenues to be 107.7 billion less than they would have been in without the legislation in 2004 and107.4 billion less in 2005 and 135.2 billion less in 2006. An analysis by the JCT in June 2006 proved this mostly correct.
@A86 you probably work for Barney Frank himself, using bits and pieces of anything (no matter from what source), hoping to bait someone else into an argument under circumstances that that person cannot reach because only you get to set the standards and rules, does not prove anything nor win you any argument.
@surfsalem7 - Barney Frank controls the JCT and Wall Street Journal (a conservative source)? Lol
Stop with your bullshit. You made a bullshit claim and you got handled with the facts. Deal with it. Or, if you want to claim I'm wrong simply drop some figures on me that proves that I'm wrong. We're all waiting. But you, I and anyone who sees this knows that you never will. This is why you try to change the subject by bitching, crying and stalling because you can't back up your ideology.
@surfsalem7 - Nowhere did I mischaracterize what you said. You claim I work for Barney Frank implying Barney Frank controls these independent organizations because that's all I've used to prove my point.
The point is both parties caused the crisis and the Bush (and now Obama) tax cuts didn't work.
@surfsalem7 - The CBO, Treasury Department and JCT aren't biased against Bush during the Bush Administration (when these studies were done). ;) Nice try.
@surfsalem7 - Like I said Barney Frank controls the JCT, Treasury Department, CBPP, CBO and Traiger&Hinckley Law firm? Got any evidence to back up this cockamamie conspiracy theory?
@surfsalem7 - I'll even quote a conservative sweetheart source - the Wall Street Journal, on the Housing Crisis. According to it the zero down-payment craze caused the collapse:
online (.) wsj (.) com / article / SB124657539489189043 (.) html
And it was Bush and Paulson who pushed the Zero Down-Payment and American Dream Initiatives.
heres a song for the republicans ,why we kill people like we do ,mitch and his whole damn crew ,why im a gop house republican leader american ,a racist little bastard living on my rich land ,blocking starving children ,saying they can all just die ,while 911 responders are still wondering why ,you had to block our heros just to help the rich get richer ,hell dont you people even get the picture,,why we kill people like we do asshole boehner and his whole crew
Gop Boehner ,can I ask you a question ,why was it that the gop made jokes about poor black people ,calling us animals and welfare cases ,when you and bush and the rest of those assholes left those poor black people to die in katrina, hmmm so if I go back and lets say turn the page to katrina ,I would afto say that those remarks you and the assholes made about poor black people was how you guys felt about the poor black people in the katrina mess ,you left them out there on perpous
@whatchaknow100 bush had supplies and troops ready to go into the effected area the day before it happened. guess who turned him down for support and made him leave. the democrat governor down there!!! the national guard where coming and they said leave we will handle it our selves. so everyone went home. you cant get things up and running in 2 secs after shutting it down like that.
@greg0622 Haha, yeah, like how Republicans blamed Clinton and even jimmy Carter for the housing crisis. And like how you blame the "libs" for blaming Bush. As long as noone takes repsonsibility for actually fixing the country!!! Thats what counts, folks!!!!
Funny thing - this is the same Boehner who in Sept 2008 met with Bernanke and Paulson to craft the legislation that bailed out the banks. And the next day he cashed out of a mutual fund that was going to crash. He (emphatically) claimed his broker had no inside info. Guess that Bloodhound has Alzheimers.
Rent "A Face in the Crowd" starring Andy Griffith.
The reason why we don't have jobs in the first place is because of dumbfuck George W destroying the world. Jobs are on the rise as well as stock market and the dollar. Boehner needs to be voted out.
I know where a lot of new jobs are! Check the IRS. There is going to be 16,000 new jobs there to make sure people are paying their taxes for the socialist health care plan.
Poor old doggie, it's not her fault...they just don't exist! Those stimulus jobs are about as rare as a snipe hunt that ends well. I'd settle for having back my old job...I'm not asking to get rich, just survive. Making it out here on $150 a week has me having to decide between buying food for the house, getting my taxes done, or paying my bills...what a choice! Thank you Oh-bum-er, thank you very much! My job is change that I can't hardly believe in!
The one thing! Republicans can no longer be the party of RHINOS, they must become the party of we the people. Then maybe we can find the jobs again. Businesses can reopen and tyranny fought against another day.
Great vid! But I feel bad for Ellie Mae. She looks awfully tired after trying to find those jobs that were supposed to be "saved or created" by porkulus. I hope Boehner is making sure she gets plenty of water and is fed well.
@peewee2636 What happen to Obama's promises? It's one thing to fall for bullshit, it a whole another thing to fall for bullshit, then be to dumb to realize you fell for it, and defend the person that bullshitted you in the first place! Open up your eyes! We the people should never defend any president! We are his bosses! Doesn't your boss stay on your ass and make you live up to your promises? If you didn't you would be in the unemployment office! Where this rouge dictator wannabe belongs
He can't find jobs created by the stimulus package. Then again he can't find one American who wants a public option in health care. There's a saying about not being able to find your a** with both hands.
@isegoria1 What happen to Obama's promises? It's one thing to fall for bullshit, it a whole another thing to fall for bullshit, then be to dumb to realize you fell for it, and defend the person that bullshitted you in the first place! This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This video is a joke. The stimulus has saved THOUSANDS of teaching and police jobs. Not to mention created thousands of construction jobs. Bush drug this country through a lot of dirt and unfortunately it's going to take Obama more than 9 months to get it cleaned up again.
Stimulus money spent on Student achievement is stimulating jobs? Unless it goes to pay for a salary or a benefit of a salary for a permanent position, it is a waste of taxpayer time...
@Yewon2001 What happen to Obama's promises? It's one thing to fall for bullshit, it a whole another thing to fall for bullshit, then be to dumb to realize you fell for it, and defend the person that bullshitted you in the first place! Actually jobs have been climbing since the stimulas. There is hope that towards the end of the year we will see an increase in jobs rather than a loss.
climbing jobs is not a clear indication of wealth, the reason we had a recession is because American's live on credit and are living outside of their means, the recession was a result of the American people getting so far in debt they went bankrupt and consumer spending tanked. These "new jobs" are rooted in debt, so we've basically created more debt to fuel living outside of our means, this will only lead to bigger debt and a harder recession in the future.
@yfz450mane They only count people who get Unemployment checks! They aren't telling you about the people who used to make 100k a year that now work at Mc Donalds. If that's creating jobs, fuck you! I want my high paying job back! Tell Obama to take his free cell phone and put them in his lose ass! Money just falls out his ass, right after he gets done giving a speech about being broke! They also don't count people that have been out of work so long they don't get a check anymore!
I believe that you, Representative Boehner, were one of the 91 republicans who voted for the final TARP legislation. That is where AIG got the majority of it's "bailout" relief. And 5 months to try and repair the damage ALL of you in congress have created over the past 10-15 years. How about some actual work, and less petty ego based flapping of your lips.
Great video, the stimulus money has been sent to China to pay for those loans already floated to us via the Red Chinese. Most of it is gone, good news though while we are losing our jobs at an alarming rate Obama is increasing welfare benefits for the free loaders. Atleast we will be able to feed our children when we join their ranks.
When you say "we", are you referring to yourself as someone about to lose your job or the "freeloaders" who you're so worried about supporting? Is there a difference between people who are losing jobs and people who can't already find jobs? When you lose your job, are you gonna start collecting welfare then, or wait until your severance pay runs out? Because, I don't think that many people on welfare had jobs that offer severance. If you are so ready to become a freeloader, maybe youcoulddonate?
When I say we, I am referring to those of us whom contribute to the tax base by way of personal income taxes. Such as myself having paid 15K total income tax for 2008. No I am not about to lose my job. My concern is that other's are losing their jobs while we still float money to welfare recipients, in fact we have increased their payouts. If you are one of those supported by welfare dollars and you feel as though I have attacked you then that is just too bad, deal with it.
I'm not; I have a job and I pay taxes. The people who need welfare are not the same people who supported putting a bumbling, warmonger idiot in office to ruin the economy by the time he left. Unemployment and welfare are an unfortunate part of society that we all have to deal with. If we let those people suffer, then we'd be no better than China or any other country who doesn't give a shit about poor people. By keeping welfare going, I would hope that if we lost our jobs, we couldfeedourchildren
Listen, you need to educate yourself in terms of welfare and the recipients whom use or should I say abuse the system. Most welfare recipients have a plan and it goes exactly like this. One partner works while using an assumed address. The other partner stays at home, under a different address, of course, while collecting your tax dollars. I have witnessed it first hand with my own employees. Men working for me have non working girlfriends and children at home on full social services, it is true
OK, I don't disagree that people do abuse welfare, but as far as men that work for you with a girlfriend and children at home; isn't that whats considered to be a housewife, in a sense? Maybe they aren't married to these women, but someone has to take care of children, no? Do these employees of yours make decent money? It sounds from how you describe, that you have low wage laborers, most likely Black or Mexican if I had to guess?
I personally would not have a kid if I wasn't a. married (which I'm not) or b. able to support them (which I can't). So how can we prevent this abuse under the Welfare system? Do we root out these people who aren't married and have kids and take them away or kill them like they would do in China? I'm for stricter rules and penalties when it comes to how people abuse welfare, but we have to want to work on it and change it. I don't believe PBO just wants 2 spend money forthesake of it w/o results
No their wages run from $14.50 on up. There are all races represented within the scope of that employment. They avoid legal wedlock by their own admission for several reasons.
1) they don't want to inhibit their girlfriend's ability to obtain welfare.
2) they don't want to be forced to carry their biological children on company medical insurance, they want to keep their free state health cards.
3) as well they want their families to qualify for state housing assistance.
I'm amazed that when you critize the Stimulus Plan as ineffective, Libs will tell you that most of the money hasn't even been released yet (which is a 'hole 'nother discussion as to WHY if we need help NOW), but are the first ones to tell you we need ADDITIONAL stimulus. WTH? Do you people really listen to your own logic???????
The stimulus did nothing to 'stimulate'. It did everything to shore up political favors and seize more power at the Federal Level. PERIOD.
I'm no expert on economics but I think it's too early to tell whether the stimulus is working or not, time will tell. I will say though, WHAT THE HELL is up with this commercial, I mean a banjo and a blood hound... seriously?
crashtest517 google how many jobs were estimated to be created by june under the stimulus package and then find out how many jobs we lost by june... just numbers/stats
This guy is a dud. The republicans didn't seem to care to spend all that money on a war but once we need to spend some at home it's suddenly wasteful.
obama has spent more then both wars combined along with vietnam, and korea. (probably greneda, but i'd have to check). the stimulus was supposed to be a quick jolt.
there has been and there will be no jolt. now they are talking about ANOTHER stimulus.
biden says that the adminn guessed wrong on the ecomomy. guessed wrong? they said it was the worst economy since the great depression. it wasn't true then, but it might be soon.
interesting that when bush was around the media were all over his connections to big oil companies, but no big stink is being raised over Obama's dealings with these insurance companies.
are you trying to imply that barrack obama is playing footsy with the insurance companies and two timing his mistress wall street. are you saying that?
aaahahaha...maybe the GOP should be spending money on ya know, getting people elected or keeping governors in office instead of crazy youtube videos...
maybe you should do your job and read politifact and other fact check which call this statement an utter lie. 2-4 million jobs have been created by the stimulus according to many neutral sources. It's hilarious that liberals complain about Bush though when Obama is just like him as far as the economy goes.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - I think the Dems have created jobs because jobs were in fact created under Clinton whereas the tax cuts have created very little growth. Even Reagan rolled back tax cuts.
"versus the Repubs in Congress"
Reality check: there was a tax hike under Clinton. So, what exactly did the Republicans in Congress do to create jobs? Hm? Should we thank the Democrats who ran Congress under Reagan for creating jobs in the 80s? You need to start backing up your rhetoric with economic data.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 if you want me to back up what I say, you should just throw out rhetoric at the same time without any back up... pot, meet kettle.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - Actually I have already given a few figures to back up what I'm saying. Under the Bush Administration the national debt grew from $5.7 Trillion to $10.6 Trillion. Tax collections were at an all-time low for much of his administration. Even from 2003 to 2007 (which was when tax collection revenues were the highest under Bush) tax collection revenue only accounted for as much of the US GDP as the 40-year average. So Bush only experienced a brief return to mediocrity.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 oh, and furthermore... you have to be correct when you try to "back up" what you say. That's a common tactic liberals use, they think they can throw out rhetoric and just make up something to "back it up" without an regard for the truth.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - It's a common liberal tactic to back up assertions with facts? Lol So conservatives don't believe in using facts?
The facts are the Bush tax cuts have created weak growth (at BEST) and at worst helped double the national debt from $5 Trillion to $10.5 Trillion between 2001 to 2009. Clinton and Reagan both raised taxes with few adverse effects. In actuality they experienced a lot of job growth (though Reagan's tax cuts did help expand the debt).
A86 8 months ago
@A86 oh, shoot I should have also mentioned that you should seriously read my entire comment... what you need to do is the "facts" you use must be correct. Read my comment again because you got what I said all wrong (not surprising though). So you can say all you want, but it being correct is a totally different thing.
And you are falsely claiming that tax cuts are what lead to our recession... lol wrong dude, it was the housing crisis brought on by, you guessed it, Democrats :o
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - "it was the housing crisis brought on by, you guessed it, Democrats"
This is some historical revisionism if I've ever seen any. The Housing Crisis was mostly brought on by Bush and Hank Paulson's Zero Down-Payment Loans and the American Dream Initiative which handed out sub-prime loans with loan shark interest rates to anyone and everyone no questions asked. The CRA loans have been in effect since the late 1970s without much incident for most of its history.
A86 8 months ago 5
@A86 Its always Bush. Well guess what, the rest of the nation has moved on Democrats. It's Obama and it's his responsibility. Republicans are only doling out what they were given. So if you can't take it, don't dish it.
itsjustme2919 7 months ago
@itsjustme2919 - Uh, reality check: being out of office doesn't make the ramifications of what you did go away. Republicans STILL whine and bitch about Jimmy Carter and the effect some of his policies might still have even though he's been out of office for 30 years. Republicans have been actively either blocking or manipulating most of the policies the Democrats have passed. Since the beginning of this year the Republicans are in control in the House and get to pass some policy.
A86 7 months ago

A86 7 months ago
@itsjustme2919 - It was the Republicans' idea to continue to the Bush tax cuts and Obama caved in and went along with it. I put full responsibility on Obama for where he has failed (like continuing the Bush tax cuts which aren't doing a damn thing to create jobs) but that's something I rarely see Republicans do: admit fault. If something bad goes on under their watch they usually either try to defend it or their programmed response is "It's the Democrats' fault".
A86 7 months ago
@A86 Yes, because Bill Clinton admitted fault when he had that affair with Monica. Ted Kennedy admitted fault when he killed Mary Jo Kopechne. Oh and the big one: Lyndon B. Johnson admitted fault when he knew Vietnam was not going to be a success. Yes. The Democrats. The party of transparency, and ethics. Obama has nearly every record of his past sealed in a vault. Yes, the Democrats are always so open and truthful I totally agree with you.
itsjustme2919 7 months ago
@itsjustme2919 - Actually Bill Clinton did admit it eventually while in Office (and the Republicans STILL wasted taxpayer money investigating it). More than I can say for Mark "Pedophile" Foley. Laura Bush never admitted fault for her fatal car crash. Richard Nixon never admitted fault for the failure of Vietnam, the uselessness of it or the Gulf of Tonkin lie.
"Obama has nearly every record of his past sealed in a vault"
Is that why it's viewable online? Another fucking birther.
A86 7 months ago
@A86 Okay, well I guess Anthony Wiener is a saint then. Laura Bush did admit fault for crash have you read her biography? Obama's past drug use. (everyone attacks Bush for it, but I guess Dems have lower standards) Richard Nixon didn't have to admit fault he brought the soldiers home while Lyndon Johnson sent them KNOWING it was going to be a failure! Get another fucking clue.
itsjustme2919 7 months ago
@itsjustme2919 - "he brought the soldiers home"
While the job wasn't done and knowing it probably couldn't be done. That's just as bad as sending them over initially. LBJ had the graces to admit failure and bow out and not run for reelection. Nixon never admitted to failure or took responsibility for re-activating the failed war.
A86 7 months ago
@A86 No no not the birth certificate. I don't doubt he's a citizen. Whether or not Obama Sr. is his father is another story but that doesn't mean anything. I meant the college records etc. Thats what I mean. Those are not viewable online. Every other candidate had to share records. Sara Palin had to share emails (which nothing juicy was found in). So please read before you argue.
itsjustme2919 7 months ago
@itsjustme2919 - "As far as the bitching about Jimmy Carter goes, I don't hear many people doing that"
Talk about America's economic problems. Most Republicans will inevitably blame, other than Obama, FDR, LBJ, Jimmy Carter and/or Bill Clinton.
A86 7 months ago
@itsjustme2919 - But of course Democrats blame past Presidents too. My point was that blaming past Presidents is nothing unique to Democrats or liberals. Both parties/sides do it when it's convenient.
"I meant the college records etc"
We haven't seen Bush or Kerry's college records either. Just reports of what their records supposedly say. I can't find copies of any other candidate's college records either. Obama did become Law School President. He must have been at least okay.
A86 7 months ago
@itsjustme2919 - And let's not forget the most transparent Republican policy of all - the Patriot Act. The most constitutional act of transparency in American history.
A86 7 months ago
@A86 Yes one. Versus several other instances for the Dems.
itsjustme2919 7 months ago
@itsjustme2919 - Haha I could go on. The illegal War in Iraq, the useless War in Afghanistan, the questionable Gulf War, getting rid of the Glass-Steagall Act, the Bush bailouts of 2008, the disastrous Zero Down Payment Act that fostered the housing market crash of 2007-2009, the unconstitutional DOMA, the unconstitutional Citizens United Supreme Court decision, the unconstitutional decision by the 5 conservative Justices of the SCOTUS to ban DNA evidence to clear the wrongly convicted, etc.
A86 7 months ago
@A86 Do I need to get the list of dems that voted for those things? Remember 9/11? Dems wanted to go to war too. Iraq? Dems too. (before and after 9/11, check soundbytes during Clinton era calling for war in Iraq). Libya? What is that? So yeah keep trying my friend. You're not making much progress.
itsjustme2919 7 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@itsjustme2919 - Yeah, and that's why I don't trust the Dems either.
A86 7 months ago
@surfsalem7 - If you want to blame the Democrats for implementing the CRA you could also blame the Republicans for none of them repealing the CRA in all these years (such as Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. leaving it be). Blaming the CRA is also a red herring as the majority of the delinquent loans were not even given by the CRA:
(.) traigerlaw (.) com / publications / traiger _ hinckley _ llp _ cra _ foreclosure _ study _ 1 - 7 - 08 (.) pdf
CRA loans were only 23% of all loans.
A86 8 months ago 7
@surfsalem7 - Now, earlier you claimed job recovery is being blocked by the Democrats. Back this up with data just like you wanted me to do about my claims. Prove that the Democrats are preventing more job growth and specify what exactly they're doing that's supposedly preventing job growth.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 no matter what I put you are going to bullshit and try to act like you have "data" to disprove me, I say that because... that is exactly what you are doing right now. And then when I point out the true facts, you have more excuses (i.e. the CRA). You really think I listen to what Ron Paul has to say? Think again. I never even said anything about the CRA, you just hoped so badly that that would be my argument. But then again, no surprise as liberals love to assume and try to make it true.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - You've presented no data to back you up and the data I've presented directly contradicts you. Therefore, we'll assume what you're saying is bullshit until you back it up. QED
"I never even said anything about the CRA"
Then in what way(s) did the Democrats cause the Housing Crisis? Hm? Lol @ you assuming I'm a liberal. This may come as a surprise to you but not everyone is a liberal or conservative. I'm neither.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 really... again you comment back without reading my comment? For shame!
You're "neither." Uh huh... yeah... sure... I believe you wholeheartedly!
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - I read your comment and it was simply you bitching about me asking you to provide evidence to back up your claims. You said I'm going to call bullshit no matter what which is blatantly false. Provide some irrefutable facts with data and you'll shut me up.
Then you said something about Ron Paul (don't know why) and claimed you weren't associating the housing crisis with the CRA. I asked you what do you associate it with and I'm still waiting for you to answer and stop stalling.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 uh oh! There's that darn pot trying to tell the kettle he's too black once again...
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - That made zero sense. I backed up my statements with evidence, you did not.
Typical right-wing ideologue. Full of nothing but hot air and noise and has to resort to bullshitting to get out of a debate when they get cornered on their bullshit.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 oh, of course it didn't...
You didn't back up anything, you use liberal talking points (claim you are neither liberal nor conservative, sure), and what me to provide data like there's an attachment button on the YouTube comments that allow for anyone to submit all the data and the documents necessary in order to prove a point.
Take you're last statement and point it towards yourself then you will be correct.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - I provided a study of the CRA loans which showed they weren't responsible for the housing crisis and I listed the tax collections accrued during the Bush Administration. Not only did the tax cuts fail to bring in much revenue the total job growth during the Bush Administration was 3 million. So the Bush tax cuts have absolutely no correlation with job growth.
You claimed the Democrats are blocking job growth and claimed the Democrats created the housing crisis.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 so just tell me (and try to do so without lying now) who was the study done by? I would look myself but unfortunately the "link" did not work. And yes I know that it will not let you do it unless you space it out, and blah blah blah. Yeah, doesn't work. I would bet that the "study" is just so darn far it's not even funny...
For one, you cannot provide any true sources that say the tax cuts caused the recession, because it was the Dems and the subprime mortgage crisis. Period.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - The study was done by Traiger & Hinckley Law LLP.
The tax cuts in and of themselves didn't cause the recession but they sure as hell did not help. They helped increase the deficit and they created weak incentives for domestic job growth. Since businesses got a tax cut they had no incentive to spend the extra revenue on hiring new workers.
(.) cbpp (.) org / cms / index (.) cfm ? fa = view & id = 3241

@A86 right there is a reason to doubt because it's from a law firm... hello, lawyers. Oh my gosh, if you think that any law firm is not in the tank for Democrats and do there bidding. Just go to open secrets dot org and find out.
Please, that right there is a red flag if there ever was one.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - And there is reason to doubt this study, why? What conflict of interest exists with a law firm dealing with housing issues? This law tank has no affiliations with the Democrat party. Enough with your bullshit excuses by claiming anything that isn't from some right-wing organization is invalid.
I provided another study from the CBPP which uses data from the CBO, the Department of Treasury and the Department of Labor. You have provided NOTHING linking the Democrats to the crisis.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 I already told you... goodness, why can't you read my comments correctly, or at least all the way through?
You saying that a study done by a law firm is full proof for you would be the equivalent of me saying that I believe Dems caused the housing crisis because Glenn Beck told me so... it means nothing.
And you saying they don't have any ties to the Democratic Party, just more of the same BS. You don't know how studies work do you?
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - False equivalence. You have provided absolutely no reason why the Traiger study is invalid (we both know it's because you don't like what it has to say). I just quoted the Wall Street Journal on the same subject and it came to the same conclusion.
What ties does Traiger Law or the Wall Street Journal have to the Democratic Party? None.
You lost.
A86 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - "because it was the Dems and the subprime mortgage crisis"
I call bullshit until you back this up with data. Until then it's just empty political rhetoric.

surfsalem7 8 months ago
*continued*
You set standards for ME to go by, yet do not follow your own standards. You want me to proved data after data to "shut you up" which you wouldn't do even if I did, yet you don't even have any correct data to back up what you say... you have talking points. Nothing else.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - You have provided not a single shred of data to back up your claims. If you want to claim you supported your claims with facts then quote yourself and list them. Otherwise shut the fuck up and stop wasting my time with your false equivalences and stall tactics by claiming I didn't support my claims as a justification for you having nothing to back up your claims.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 and you have only provide one study, done by a law firm (conflict of interest). You have proved nothing and will not because you only see one point of view, you would not even give me any credit for anything no matter what.
So take your own advice. So, "shut the fuck up and stop wasting my time with your false equivalences and stall tactics by claiming I didn't support my claims as a justification for you having nothing to back up your claims." Right back at you.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - In fact, I'll quote the officials on the subject.
(.) jct (.) gov / x - 51 - 01 (.) pdf
The Joint Committee on Taxation estimated that the 2001 tax legislation would cause government revenues to be 107.7 billion less than they would have been in without the legislation in 2004 and107.4 billion less in 2005 and 135.2 billion less in 2006. An analysis by the JCT in June 2006 proved this mostly correct.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 you probably work for Barney Frank himself, using bits and pieces of anything (no matter from what source), hoping to bait someone else into an argument under circumstances that that person cannot reach because only you get to set the standards and rules, does not prove anything nor win you any argument.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - Barney Frank controls the JCT and Wall Street Journal (a conservative source)? Lol
Stop with your bullshit. You made a bullshit claim and you got handled with the facts. Deal with it. Or, if you want to claim I'm wrong simply drop some figures on me that proves that I'm wrong. We're all waiting. But you, I and anyone who sees this knows that you never will. This is why you try to change the subject by bitching, crying and stalling because you can't back up your ideology.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 making up what I say won't work either.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - Nowhere did I mischaracterize what you said. You claim I work for Barney Frank implying Barney Frank controls these independent organizations because that's all I've used to prove my point.
The point is both parties caused the crisis and the Bush (and now Obama) tax cuts didn't work.
A86 8 months ago
@A86 nope, wrong again about what I meant/said.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - The CBO, Treasury Department and JCT aren't biased against Bush during the Bush Administration (when these studies were done). ;) Nice try.

A86 8 months ago
@A86 got any real evidence to anything you say without bias? No, didn't think so.
surfsalem7 8 months ago
@surfsalem7 - Facts are biased sometimes. Because something is biased does not mean it's incorrect.
Lol @ you wasting my time. You've been defeated by facts. Throw in the towel and quit wasting my time before I start embarrassing your dumb ass.

@A86 biased facts don't make it automatically correct either.

The jobs are being created. If the republican'ts would join in, insted of constantly saying "NO", it would be moving forward much baster.
It took 30 years of republican't deregulation to make this mess. With their constant obstruction, it could take another 30 yers to clean up the mess.

This video is a joke. The stimulus has saved THOUSANDS of teaching and police jobs. Not to mention created thousands of construction jobs. Bush drug this country through a lot of dirt and unfortunately it's going to take Obama more than 9 months to get it cleaned up again.
Yewon2001 2 years ago
When you through $170,000 a job you can get something, janitor, food service or crossing guard.
cupera1 2 years ago
Sure. This Stimulus Joke was supposed to create much more than "thousands of jobs." You must get your info from MSNBC.

Stimulus money spent on Student achievement is stimulating jobs? Unless it goes to pay for a salary or a benefit of a salary for a permanent position, it is a waste of taxpayer time...

Good video.
The GOP ought to release the hounds and chase Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, B. Frank, and the rest of their ilk out of Congress!

Actually jobs have been climbing since the stimulas. There is hope that towards the end of the year we will see an increase in jobs rather than a loss.
rockisdead1946 2 years ago
climbing jobs is not a clear indication of wealth, the reason we had a recession is because American's live on credit and are living outside of their means, the recession was a result of the American people getting so far in debt they went bankrupt and consumer spending tanked. These "new jobs" are rooted in debt, so we've basically created more debt to fuel living outside of our means, this will only lead to bigger debt and a harder recession in the future.

When you are having over 500k filing for unemployment every month, That is not climbing at all!

The only employment sector with climbing jobs is in government. That's the Obama stimulous plan in a nut shell.

What about the health care sector? They're adding jobs and that's not government.

Atleast we will be able to feed our children when we join their ranks.
beefspareribs 2 years ago
When you say "we", are you referring to yourself as someone about to lose your job or the "freeloaders" who you're so worried about supporting? Is there a difference between people who are losing jobs and people who can't already find jobs? When you lose your job, are you gonna start collecting welfare then, or wait until your severance pay runs out? Because, I don't think that many people on welfare had jobs that offer severance. If you are so ready to become a freeloader, maybe youcoulddonate?
pjleash 2 years ago
When I say we, I am referring to those of us whom contribute to the tax base by way of personal income taxes. Such as myself having paid 15K total income tax for 2008. No I am not about to lose my job. My concern is that other's are losing their jobs while we still float money to welfare recipients, in fact we have increased their payouts. If you are one of those supported by welfare dollars and you feel as though I have attacked you then that is just too bad, deal with it.
beefspareribs 2 years ago
I'm not; I have a job and I pay taxes. The people who need welfare are not the same people who supported putting a bumbling, warmonger idiot in office to ruin the economy by the time he left. Unemployment and welfare are an unfortunate part of society that we all have to deal with. If we let those people suffer, then we'd be no better than China or any other country who doesn't give a shit about poor people. By keeping welfare going, I would hope that if we lost our jobs, we couldfeedourchildren
pjleash 2 years ago
Listen, you need to educate yourself in terms of welfare and the recipients whom use or should I say abuse the system. Most welfare recipients have a plan and it goes exactly like this. One partner works while using an assumed address. The other partner stays at home, under a different address, of course, while collecting your tax dollars. I have witnessed it first hand with my own employees. Men working for me have non working girlfriends and children at home on full social services, it is true
beefspareribs 2 years ago
OK, I don't disagree that people do abuse welfare, but as far as men that work for you with a girlfriend and children at home; isn't that whats considered to be a housewife, in a sense? Maybe they aren't married to these women, but someone has to take care of children, no? Do these employees of yours make decent money? It sounds from how you describe, that you have low wage laborers, most likely Black or Mexican if I had to guess?
pjleash 2 years ago
I personally would not have a kid if I wasn't a. married (which I'm not) or b. able to support them (which I can't). So how can we prevent this abuse under the Welfare system? Do we root out these people who aren't married and have kids and take them away or kill them like they would do in China? I'm for stricter rules and penalties when it comes to how people abuse welfare, but we have to want to work on it and change it. I don't believe PBO just wants 2 spend money forthesake of it w/o results
pjleash 2 years ago

PERIOD.
