Another fantastic song from "the brothers Gibb", when the boys had to go into hiding after the end of the disco era, and it's inevitable backlash. These gentlemen are superb. It is a tragedy that their brother died. I hope the two brothers will continue to write songs. They must.
Great performance and just the right length. When Dionne sings it , they throw in a musical interlude to allow her to repeat some of the lyrics. Find the Barry Gibb demo of Heartbreaker here at Youtube and he's singing this in falsetto voice-really neat -ht
Yes it is absolutely 100% barrys song. He wrote it,. Dion sang it. Barry owns all the rights and royalties to it. Barry has wrote some of the most beautful music we will ever hear. and he is still writing. He and MJ wrote a slew of songs yet to be released. Barry has them. Hope he releases them sometime. Just think the songwriting team of Barry Gibb and Michael Jackson. WOW,,,wow,,,, and wow now "THIS IS IT"
It's funny how a lot of the public still doesn't realize the Bee Gees wrote songs like this, Grease, Islands In The Stream and so many other hits for other artists.
@ianschecter Yes, he did write it, but that doesn't diminish Dionne's contribution, does it? Frank Sinatra didn't write I Did it My Way. Ella didn't write Summertime. Barbra Steisand didn't write People. It is their performances that people associate with the songs. I mean't no disrespect to Barry.
The late Sinatra once said" great singers are two a penny, great songwriters are a rare gift" that is what the message is here. The Bee Gees were the 2nd most prolific songwriters in history, they have revived many a flagging career with their songs, they have no parity.
I will always love the Bee Gees music. They could write some songs. I was so surprised by Islands in the Stream when I found out they wrote it. They could sing, play their own instruments, wrote songs not only for themselves but for others. They even sound great live. Who is around now that you can do all of that?
i could never get enough of this song....i listen to them everyday and i never get tired of singing with them on my way to work...luckily i start at 4 am, so no one can see me as i sing...
DOUBLE WOW! Just incredible to see the three of them together, it's like MAGIC! The world will never see the likes of these three guys ever again. They were a once in a life time miracle. Just think, God put them on loan to the world!

@meercachase The Bee Gees also recorded and included it in their superb "For The Record" anthology of 2001.

@BarryGibb4Me I think there maybe problems with MJ's family and royalities.
I also think Barry is not the type to exploit MJ and would be very careful about releasing those songs.

A salute to the beautiful, gifted Dionne Warwick. She would be proud to see one of her signature tune performed so well.

You realize this is Barry's song, right?
taddiefans 2 years ago 20
@taddiefans ABSOLUTELY! The Bee Gees are intellectual. They should get the Kennedy Center Honors.
