I'm glad Nakazawa-san has Takenaka-san supporting him. The fact that Takenaka-san is so touched by his sushi just shows the talent and skill level of the chef.
Fukui- San! He alway's inturrupts the guy's sentences. LOL! This what I alway's thought was funny. He could be saying something important then all of a sudden Fukui-San! LOL!
@NathanReggae it has a very different style in many ways, and also the ICA chefs are imho in general less knowledgeable/respectful of the ingredients/cooking philosophy. I will say that i do love alton brown, though. but clearly, ohta > kevin brauch.
@NathanReggae Why dislike IC-A; in part, because; greasy spoon short order cook bobby flay is on it. Anyone who climbs on the teble and stands on the cutting board has no right to call himself a Chef. The 2nd time, all he does is whine like a spoiled brat. He cut his hand, the equipment is second class, & didn't work right, excuse after excuse. He was not the first to cut his hand or have equipment problems. Others had this happen to them, both Challenger and Iron Chef and NOT ONE COMPLAINED.
i love these commentators. I bet they are somewaht fluent in japanese....or at least they've taken some classes prior to this show. They don't butcher the pronounciation of any of the names or any japanese words.
@808Arsenal The dubbing is actually done in Japan. I read an interview with Bill Bickard (Fukui) that talked about the process. You can find it on Google.
@d00bied00 yeah, asada san is like 56yrs old but despite age, her atomosphere and girly demeanor gives pretty cute impression. i guess for japanese 50-60s guys she is perpetual idol. youre right shi means death(shi stands for a lots of meanings. number 4 is also shi) and hachi(could also mean bee) as number 8 is perceived as lucky number in japan(china also). good luck on your japanese study, if youre interested and having fun youre on right track!
I went to a Japanese restaurant last week. I was in the mood for some sushi. I had a spicy tuna roll with my chicken teriyaki. We had lunch at a hibachi (forgive me for the spelling) grill.
My spicy tuna roll was slightly sweet, but once I dipped it abit into the ginger sauce and the wasabi, I was in heaven. :)
On the contrary, I used to watch cooking shows so I wouldn't get hungry. I would imagine myself eating the food when I watched it and that was good enough to sustain me. :)
I had the honor of meeting Morimoto-san twice in his restaurant in Philly. His food is incredible. His sushi is fabulous. I can see why he is the Iron Chef. He deserves the title all the way.
I have always liked this show, they always have a cutie on it, and actress or model. A lot of the shows have that "lower house member" guy, he just wants a free meal all the time.
