Go to cchrint.org and see the psychiatric drug side effects database. Don't take our word for it. But you should look at what the drug regulatory agencies have warned. @CCHRInt I belive you but vitamine C can also kill... rarely... but it can. And a lot of those sideeffects (of cours no all) are quite rare. Mostly after antidepressants people have apathy, they put on weight, have sexual problems, can not sleep etc. But if you have a choise.. have some of those side effects or just lay on the flor with depression and wait till you die... i think the choise is easy. Besides not only Psychiatry drugs have side effects but CCHR only mentions psychiatry. Wonder why

And depression, bi-polar, ADHD as "diseases"/physical illness of the brain,requiring drugs to "cure" them is marketing -Not science. @CapitanWafles Actually, you're wrong. A lot of what CCHR presents is accurate. It can be found in the research, in the articles and journals. Tricyclics have shown potential for SUDDEN DEATH in children under 14 who exercise, showing cardiac side effects (Tingelstad, 1991). Antidepressants can also cause mania-like symptoms in those without 'bi-polar' (Goodwin & Jamison, 2007).

CCHR says these are not real illnesses/diseases. They aren't. They are mind states and real experiences, not diseases.

@CapitanWafles i had psychosis off psych drugs as a child and many more physical and mental symptoms. i do believe disorders exsist, but R overly diagnosed & drugs make symptoms worse, & when symptoms worsen psychs dont think "oh no the drugs did that" they just give more drugs to cure new symptoms, which creates more symptoms...and so on. I do love the CCHR stuff, but dont agree mental disorder doesnt exsist. because i have had anorexia and that was real!!! but drugs wise what they say is trueX

It's just hard to believe they would allow these drugs to be pushed on an unsuspecting and ill-informed public.

Every single one of these psychiatric medications with the exception of maybe Wellbutrin leads to significant weight gain. Meaning that when patients are detained in these hospitals their health and safety are being strongly taxed, because since the medications lead to weight gain and the patient is not allowed to leave the unit he/she can not burn off any calories. That plus the crappy food he/she is given further leads to problems.

I tried switching her from the drugs to herbs and vitamins, but she crashed later on. Now she has a naturopath, and is on both therapies. And doing well, with diminished side-effects. In your list of anti-depressants, there was no mention made of Zoloft, one of the largest selling drugs for depressive symptoms. My sister-in-law has been taking it since her divorce, and has sworn to its wonders. I think she will not be coming down from this drug for quite a while, as insurance pays for it. What a complicated web we weave when first we set out to deceive!

Sincere thanks for your post. My husband died in April from complications related to Abilify. He had a diagnosis of Paranoid Schizophrenia, and after being put on Risperidone and Invega with some serious side effects, he was switched to Abilify. His paranoia worsened and he became increasingly anxious and depressed. He shook at nights and was much worse than before treatment. He shot himself the day before his appointment to follow up. Others I know had bad effects too. Be careful.

Dont make antidepressants and antipsychotics to be labeled as "bad drugs". Look up the side effects for just one tablet of Bayer Aspirin. All drugs have side effects. Its not fair to write even the rare side effects and make people see it as a daily occurrence. True, there are a lot of people on these drugs that shouldnt be. But there are people who have disorders that require these drugs to be able to function. If you are going to pinpoint side effects, do it to all drugs.

@blondeisius Well, I agree with you, Ive been takin LUVOX for my OCD, and it has helped A LOT!! Im more relaxed and my obsesive thoughts are less often than they used to.. But I cant deny I have side effects, like morning sickness, loss of apetite and insomnia. Plus I feel Im shaking all the time. But I really prefer this than having OCD, which is overwhelming... I have been on anti-psychotics for the past 5 years, my only noticeable draw back would be the weight gain, which is a side affect of most anti-psychotics. Without medication even for one day I am half the man I should be, any more that a day and I am seriously not well. I will be on this for the rest of my life and I accept that, as Heather said it is much better than the alternative. I am able now to run a business and have a fairly normal life that I did not have before I started the meds.
