  • it is called a pedal steel, a complicated and difficult to master piece of machinery that uses fingerpicks, a slide in the left hand, and pedals to further bend and manipulate the sound. its been pretty common in country music since just after WWII and rarely seen at all in jazzz. this makes easley is a unique plauer indeed. unfortunately you can barely hear him here until his solo.
