  • this was the greatest moment in all of MGS. Big boss the villain behind the scenes of every game in one instant became someone u cared for. truly epic

  • Volgin, The Pain, The End, The Sorrow and The Fear disliked this video.

  • This scene made me literally cry for quite a few minutes, than I bought Metal Gear Solid 3: Sustenance and saw the hardships and the choice he had to do and suffer from then on. I then replayed this scene in the game and in a sense I felt happy for him because he can now see EVA and The Boss again like he always wanted to and he also died knowing that his true son will be able to live his life all the way to the end like he didn't get to.

  • EPIC <3

  • to think the mgs series all started with that man. something he never knew would unfold. but his country set him up to be this hero that the world looks up to. and now to think at that moment the most powerful person in history is gone.... R.I.P big boss. u went through so much, you fought against something that spiraled into a monstrosity. and now it over you can rest now. *stands straight, and salutes to the greatest hero in mgs history* well nvr forget yours and the bosss bravery.*tears fall

  • Not shown: The awkward moment when Snake had to call 911 and have Big Boss taken away in an ambulance

  • @Rockmanisoff LOL!!

  • dun dun dun dun dun....... DUN DUN DUN!

  • Manly Tears

  • <;_;

  • When the cigar fell from between his fingers I knew he was gone. R.I.P Big Boss! :(

  • 'Course it is Jack, It's Cuban.

  • This is most epic ending of any saga in the world

  • Here's to you

  • Here come the tears...

  • Big Boss was my favourite character in the metal gear saga

  • Comment removed

  • Manly tears were shed that day.

  • I think the line "The world only needs one snake... no, the world, would be better off... without snakes." had soo much meaning to it in every way you look at how he said that. It really resolved a lot of BB's conflicts with himself and The Boss and Solid Snake.

  • I've read a lot of stories, I've watched a lot of stories and I've played a lot of stories and in my personal opinion, not one tops MGS and not one scene tops Snakes reunion with Big Boss.

  • @pmilleroly27 Absolutely. I have this little problem thanks to MGS 4: I can't seem to find a game that has that good a story. Everytime I finish a game, I keep comparing it to MGS 4 and until now there's wasn't a single game that achieved the brilliance of MGS 4. Game of the Decade in my opinion.

  • @MyComicStyle Opinion? Fact, pretty much. In the age of CoD clones, most video game stories this generation followed this outline: 1. Someone gets assassinated 2. Find out a Russian is in charge 3. Find out Russian has nukes 4. Find out Russian has plenty of canonnfodder AI guards he'll send to the most obscure regions 5. Kill Russian, stop nukes, save the day, fireworks play & credits roll. I'm tired of it, honestly. MGS4's was brilliant, and moments like these remind me why I like the series.

  • @hypernova1024 Absolutely. But I honestly hate loving its story. Makes every other game's story look like a three day old bag of garbage. Plus, the gameplay's perfect, the AI's rather smart, the sounds are amazing, the soundtrack's amazing and the graphics were fantastic. Well, except for the graphics it's still the perfect game. THIS is as good games can get. THIS is what other developers should try to beat. THIS is an ultimate masterpiece.

  • The end cutscene kept me up till 4am when I was waking up at 6... brutal.

  • Not just good... PRETTY GOOD.

At ease, Big Boss, you earned it.

  • david hayter should of voiced big boss too since he was the original voice actor in mgs3 for big boss so richard doyle maybe voiced big boss because big boss voice could of change from aging i guess :P

  • The last words of Big Boss EPIC!!

  • RIP BIG BOSS

  • I cry manly tears!

  • TTTTTTTTTTT__TTTTTTTTTTT

  • This music can never be played too loud

  • When he started coughing all I could think was "You should know by now that you don't inhale cigars."

    xD

  • i think when i play it and zoom often to snake in this cutcene,i saw really little tears under snakes eyes

  • This game is poetry in its best form! Just epic. Thank you Kojima for this epic franchise and for open my eyes to see the world through "my own eyes". Thank you!

  • with the HD collection and the PS Store classic MGS1 purchased I can now live my dream of playing them all in order, with the help of the MGS database, this amazing, elaborate, and emotional story will unfold. God damn what an epic moment.

  • Hideo is a great videogames director, but i have a question: Snake is really dead? He will never appear on MGS? A MGS game without Solid Snake it's like a Rambo movie, without Rambo or something like that... In other words, a MGS game without Solid Snake have no sense, BORING! Solid Snake HAVE to be there.

Solid Snake debe estar en las demás entregas de MGS, algo deben hacer, pero Snake debe estar, o el juego perderá sentido, por mi parte no jugaré otro MGS en el que no esté Snake.

  • @JuanOrtegaSnake Big Boss is dead. Solid Snake is still alive, but old as fuck. And MGS2 was still amazing even if you played as Raiden.

  • @JuanOrtegaSnake so you won't be playing Metal Gear Solid: Rising?

  • @JuanOrtegaSnake He lives through MGS4, but only has a couple of months to live (2-4 if I remember it correctly). By that time, his body will be severely impaired, and he won't be able to go around doing his thing, so he's going to live his life out with Otacon enjoying what he has left. Even if there WERE some kind of mission, his body will have deteriorated to the point where he'd probably be too weak to fight (really fraille bones, more back problems, etc).

  • @JuanOrtegaSnake If we ever see solid snake again than he'll probably be in a cut scene with otacon pushing him in a wheelchair. He'll be using a breathing machine and he'll look like hes 85

  • Epic cigar dropping.. so emotional..

  • I want cry each time when I see this scene T.T

  • Sure is, Jack. That's a Cuban.

  • @Aivottaja lol.

  • I teared up a bit when Snake lit Big Boss's cigar for him as the music swelled...and I am not ashamed. Call me a woman if you want (that is if you're a sexist jerk), but I am not ashamed. I almost cried during the playback of Naomi's video as well (this is a sad game, isn't it?).

  • No, it's not good... As a real mgs fan I must say that this game is fucking horrible.

  • Comment removed

  • @awlawla I could rage. I could start yet another pointless Youtube argument by saying that you are an idiot and that this is the greatest MGS game ever (although I enjoyed all of them...except Portable Ops...it blowed...). But I won't. Because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I disagree with you, but I won't fight you. And by avoiding yet another useless conflict, I have made the world a better place...Portable Ops SUCKED...

  • @Animatic121 Sounds reasonable enough :)

Ok, so maybe I was a bit harsh, it sure got it's epic moments, but... Big Boss being alive sure isn't one of them.

  • dose he mean the cigar lol or him diying lol

  • Easily one of the most powerful reconciliation scenes ever.

  • This is the best moment in video game history.

  • Foresight

  • "This is good, isn't it?" interpretation: at last the war is over, the age of tyranny of the systems on top of em the patriots have been desisted, the apprehension of the bosses true volition has been divulged.it's the prevalence of peace and settlement.one who has been once a warrior will earn his forgiveness and have rest that's big boss and the other prisoner of fate will be freed and look upon life with his own

  • @Th3Strategist EPIC comment.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't care about what all the facts hint at but to me solid snake was the authentic perfect clone.they re so much alike.they re identical in their manners, behaviors, likings and customs.except the two had a difference in their beliefs, fundamentals and aims.solid was a government product he was born with a specific notion while naked was born with no sense of belonging but ultimately it seemed only one of the snakes found his liberation.

  • your pretty good!

  • Manly tears.

  • This is good.....isn't it?

  • @23house23 its father and son you stupid bitch ass lil kid!!! Dont go fuckin with somethin like this between Father and Son

Big Boss is Solid (Old) Snakes Father dickhead

  • @23house23 fuck off

  • @0xCIPHERx0

    lol u mad bro?

  • @23house23 i'm not mad i'm asking you to fuck off in a rudely nice way :D

  • @0xCIPHERx0

    lol u so mad.

  • @23house23 dude how would you feel if that was your father dying?.hell u wouldnt care.that just just show that you have no heart.

  • @23house23 u might be a fag youself you fuckin jerkweed.

  • the one thing that would have made this scene possibly the most beautiful gaming moment of all time that just seems so simple would be to have David Hayter play both Solid Snake and Big Boss voices.

  • This is good? Yes. Yes it is.

  • I don't think the line was memorable. Funny enough I tend to remember the longer one, which is the "one becomes two" speech.

  • @impalabeeper What on earth was he on about during that speech?

  • @Dsurvivor21stCentury

It means that small problems become bigger eventually. One thing leads to another as in a chain reaction. We can see when it all started in MGS3 when Big Boss and Zero misinterpreted The Boss' will as EVA said.

Or maybe when it started with the creation of the Philosophers I don't know.

My friend made a creative but rather a vague video actually about his theory of what the speech meant while also a theory what MGS Rising will be all about.

  • @impalabeeper Ah, thanks. Yeah I think it was with them misinterpreting The Boss' will not the Philosophers as he said killing Zero will restore everything. OK so if the Boss' will was to have a unified world how on earth did Big Boss think Outer Heaven, a nation where everything just wars even children would accomplish this?

Doesn't Rising focus on how Raiden became a Cyborg Ninja? It'll probably be about his time in Area 51.

  • @Dsurvivor21stCentury

Big Boss believed that The Boss wanted a place where soldiers are free from government who manipulates them as revealed in MGS3 ending. I don't think outer Heaven is just war, In Peace Walker they are merenaries who follows Big Boss but Big Boss still has moral and ethics and simply just won't go to war unless there is a cause. TBH I really don't know what was the Boss' will.

About Rising it does focus on Raiden and maybe it would tell the history of the Patriots.

  • strange big boss reminds me of qui gon jinn they look the freaking same! and both their deaths make me sad :(

  • He refers about the cigar, about the moment, about everything.

  • Comment removed

  • ...such an emotional scene..

  • :'(

  • WAIT im a little mixed up, solidus isnt solid snake right? he's another clone?

  • @tehphat

    1. Big Boss

    2. Solidus = perfect BBoss clone

    3. Solid Snake isn't Solidus

    4. Liquid Snake isn't Solidus

Play MGS2, and all things will be clear ;) I don't wanna spoil it (you will find that almost on beginning of the game) that Solidus only pretended to be Solid Snake (to "harm his image" I guess).

  • @dozeros ohh okay, thanks for clearing it out, yeah i played and beat 1 and 4, but didnt get to finish 2 and 3 but i understood pretty much everything except for this

  • @dozeros solid snake looks like big boss in mgs2 he looks like big boss from mgs3

  • @JBhitman6

Thats a cool comment how you weaved that together. And its true. Old snake looks like solidus. And Plisken looks like big boss from snake eater.

  • @dozeros actualy solid and solidus are perfect clones only solid is perfect when he Big Boss was young but solidus when he was old

  • @dozeros wow... and you felt the need to express all that on youtube, guess there's not much happening were ever you are

  • @tubewearwolf sorry, what are u reffering to?

  • @dozeros Solidus + Solid Snake + Liquid Snake + Big Boss = THE ULITIMATE WEAPON!

  • I never cared for you as a son, but i respected you as a man...powerful words

  • I wonder whats for dinner?...

  • Farewell Big Boss, you can finnally rest in peace now...

  • What exactly does he mean? Does he mean the cigar is good?

  • @Haroids No, that he and his 'son' made peace.

  • @theladyjayde Hm, that's what I thought on my first playthrough. But on my second playthrough I'm like, "He's gotta be talking about the cigar.....~_~".

  • so this is solidus in front of The Boss's Grave?

  • No it's big boss! solidus died horribly in the second game

  • @mrhellbilly666 okay, but i thought Big Boss died by Solid Snake?

  • He did at zanzibar,, but Naomi put him back together.

  • @mrhellbilly666 hmm.... when did that happen?

  • Not sure. But big boss tells snake at the end of

MGS4 that Naomi put him back together. I was hoping that the new MG Rising, would answer that question.

  • @mrhellbilly666 Naomi is Para-Medic from MGS3 right?

  • No para-medic is the one that started the Les Enfants Terribles the project to clone big boss. And after Zanzibar she put big boss in a coma and then later Naomi put him back together.

  • @mrhellbilly666 so what happened to para-medic then?

  • @Missinsumthin

She was murdered by Grey Fox.

  • Yep Grey Fox did her in. For all the shit she did to him,,,, she deserved it!

  • @mrhellbilly666 thats kinda sad what did she do to him?

  • You need to play some Metal Gear! LoL She did excruciating experiments on him basically torturing him and eventually turning Null into the cybernetic ninja that you see in MGS1.

  • @mrhellbilly666 well i dont have MGS1 i want it but i dunno where to get it, and i dont have a PS3 to play MGS4 guns of the patriots. but i played2 and 3 snake eater and subsistence.

  • @Missinsumthin They made a bundle with the first 3 games in it for ps2, you can probably get one at GameStop. The first one is my favorite. you should definitely play it,,,,, if you can find it.

  • @mrhellbilly666 ill try my best to find it. and gamestop doesnt carry any of the old MGS's all they have is 3 and the others that just came out.

  • @Missinsumthin if you buy a ps3 and register a psn account you can buy metal gear solid 1 off the psn store but it requires you to cash in some money.

  • Yeah BB got kept getting by betrayed by people, like miller. He took down 4 metal gears even before Snake. After all the games including big boss, it showed that BB was the best snake and endured alot of crap

  • I still get goosebumps when I watch this...

  • "this is good, isnt it?" *drops cigar* WTF BOOM

  • After finishing Peace Walker this is even more sad :(

  • Comment removed

  • many man tears were shed. . .Now i want a remake of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake so I can re-live the epic battle those 2 had at Zanzibar. . .:-(

  • Solidus: This is good....isn't it?

    No...... THIS IS DELICIOUS!

  • @JcWongAndCompany Scratch that. =[

  • It's fucking epic. Isn't it ?

  • @SniperScope16x

    rofl rofl rofl rofl

  • i was fu king crying in this part this is so epic¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ the last words of Big Boss =(

  • Oh god when he drops the ciggar... I... I just break down.

  • ...why snake isn't crying in this type of situation??...maybe he will fulfill his promise to big boss that he will live a peaceful life and not to waste his life in fighting...

  • @huzkar123 because Snake still doesn't like Big Boss enough to cry over his death. This was more of a "miutual respect" sort of thing. Its like having a father who beat on your mother and abused you as a child. Then YEARS later when your a fully grown man(like 40ish)he returns as a reformed man, and is like a pastor or something. You would honor his change and have a tremendous amount of respect for him, but still wouldn't be able to wash out that bitter taste of him.

  • There one more burden left for Snake. That is to bury Big Boss. Well done Big Boss.

  • the perfect clone of big boss is solidus?

  • as far as i understood what he said - yes. they even look the same ( the difference was eyepatch on left eye ;) )

  • @dozeros yeah, but boss got his eye blown out, solidus, got it blown up...

  • @EddyIbanezConnected yeah cos solidus got both the good and bad genes while liquid got the good one and snake got the recessive genes

  • big boss is not his dad, Snake a clone of big boss!

  • it could go either way...

  • i wouldn't call snake a clone, a clone is someone who is exactly like someone, not born as any child and grows up like any regular person. snake is his own man not a clone, that is why solidus was made as the perfect clone weren't u listening to the explanations

  • this is known to me, but Snake is a CLONE of Big Boss! not exactly like But he is a fucking CLONE!

In MGS1 Liquid explains that they are the product of the Les Enfants Terribles project, a government sponsored effort to clone Big Boss. Solid received all of Big Boss' dominant genes, while Liquid received all of Big Boss's recessive genes. I was just pointing out that Big Boss was not Snake real dad OK

  • @mrhellbilly666 it;'s the other way round, Solid has the recessive genes, you find out at the end.

  • @NoLeftThumbs my bad,,, thank you for correcting me

  • @mrhellbilly666 Snake is the SON of Big Boss. He is only a clone is the sense that Snake was born to inherit specific elements of Big Boss' genetic being. But Snake has a surrogate mother and all. Its not as black and white as "Snake is just a copy of Big Boss". That would just ruin the story Hideo is trying to tell. You think Hideo wants you to see it as "yeah Snake is just a copy of Big Boss, so hes not really his son".

  • @SageofSorrow

Ok but SNAKE IS A CLONE OF BIG BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is all I was trying to say, that Big Boss is not snakes real father. Not that Snake is just a copy of Big Boss, He's Solid Snake one bad motherfucker! And in my opinion snake is a batter man than big boss,,,,but that's in my opinion.

  • @mrhellbilly666 hes not REALLY a clone as he was born naturally from evas womb and not in some test tube..

  • @range567W

    yes,,,that's how clones are born!!LoL

  • @range567W

Clones are created through somatic cell nuclear transfer, an approach to cloning in which the nucleus of an egg cell is replaced with the nucleus of a somatic, or non-reproductive, cell from an individual to be cloned. Under ideal conditions, the two fuse together seamlessly, and the egg is “activated” by a jolt of electricity, then deposited into a female womb and allowed to grow and differentiate

  • @mrhellbilly666 no person has been cloned before so what you are sayin is just theory even though it may well work

  • @mrhellbilly666 and your Opinion sucks. Big Boss By far surpasses snake. All of Big Bosses games show ALOT more emotion through the crap He went through. I havnt seen a game yet that Solid Snake had to do half the things that Big Boss Did.

  • Solid Snake wouldn't have blown boss brains out,,,,, and Big Boss knows that! And what more has big boss gone through that snake hasn't? Let's think what has snake done. Destroyed 3 metal gears, killed all of Fox hound, killed his psycho clone brother, and killed ocelot pretending to be his psycho clone brother and oh yeah,, killing big boss,,, twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mrhellbilly666 Big Boss Killed the woman he Loved, Killed lets see. 3 metal gears PLUS 3 unmanned metal gears. Took down the entire Fox unit ( Thus making fox hound ). AND Cobra Unit. Beat Ocelot Multiple times when he had 2 HANDS and was Younger. Defeated Gene. Put Together and managed an entire factory making AND Defeating Metal gear Zeke Before solid snake even Bothered. SO thats another Gear he beat. And was such a great influance that they Cloned Him.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @MonkeyPowers "And was such a great influence that they Cloned Him." You got me with that one. you win,,,,,, but you can't take away the fact that Solid Snake was going to take his own life to save humanity from Fox die. big boss never had to faced anything like that.

  • @mrhellbilly666 Killing himself wouldnt have saved anyone. Since lets see he killed how many other people with it? Im sure Evas dead body and then Big Bosses had fox die in them. so if it did mutate and attack anyone it wouldve spread through the people who had to clean up those bodies. since lets face it bodies dont magicly disapear.

  • @MonkeyPowers okay you completely missing the point,,, but okay.

and nanomachines died when the host dies so yeah,, in-your-face!

  • @kuramaredrose But snake IS a clone, just not a perfect one. Neither is Liquid. The only perfect clone was Solidus.

  • Ummmm one of them both is Snake. Because i have the game i dont even know anything about it i just found this video and that. But is the guy that dies is the father of Snake???

  • While no parent wants to outlive their child, does it count if the child looks older than the parent and they both die within a few years of one another? And the child is a clone-baby?

  • ....I won't even reply to that stupid shit.

  • @0Bros4Life0 Because his dad like Cigars

  • I cried during the entire epilouge of Meatal Gear Solid 4. And then I put the epilouge on my ipod, and cried infront of all my friends at school who were like "WTF, Eh?"

    They just don't get it.

  • @109Chrome109 it's alright. They're manlier tears than they could ever hope to cry.

  • @109Chrome109 i did the same, except for the ipod part.but i cried in front of my friends who were at my house when i beat mgs4.so sad.

  • @109Chrome109 YEAH/...i cried at it too..some of my friends understand why though..considering there metal gear fans too.

  • @109Chrome109 Thats epic yo,

  • so according to Hideo Kojima, Big Boss' legend never carries on? first Solidus the Liquid, than finally Snake, it all over for them...

  • T_T

  • Here's somthing that'll make you think. Was he talking about the Cigar or the moment?

  • thats wat i was think the cigar or the moment danmn i need answers!!
