RIP 722!

  • Download the audio from this video at soundnabber doht cohm.

  • John Newton (1725–1807), Amazing Grace published in 1779. He was pressed into the Royal Navy and became a sailor, eventually participating in the slave trade. One night a terrible storm battered his vessel so severely that he became frightened enough to call out to God for mercy, a moment that marked the beginning of his spiritual conversion. His career in slave trading lasted a few years more until he quit going to sea altogether and began studying theology.

  • We had a lone piper play it on my grandmother's funeral back in the early 60's ..... long before it became popular on the pipes. It was her favourite hymn and the piper was a friend of the family. The song comes from the days of the slave trade when a trader's eyes were opened to what he was doing - I absolutely love hearing it.

  • For Braxton

  • if i have never have to hear this again i will be the happiest man in the world. hail the victorious dead. i miss you guys every fucking day.

  • For June

  • I love this instrument

  • For June Lund Shiplett

  • Rest In Peace June Lund Shiplett

  • Nice to hear the pipes played well to God's news of amazing grace.

  • I am praying for you ..

  • God going to Calvary, dieing on the cross, sacrificed His blood for OUR sins.. that WE may be washed white as snow, for none of us are righteous , none of us are good enough to get into heaven.. but we sure are bad enough to get into hell. without JESUS.. and His blood..that was shed for US.. we would all be cast into the fire. Jesus saves!!!! Praise God!! and to the ones who would like to express their opinions about me.. that's ok.. think what you will.. I will not lose sleep!!! :)

  • @ImThedovey for our sins

  • the bible explicitly states the opposite. "and of some having compassion, making a difference: and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh." jude 1: 22, 23.

  • Hell is not motivation for belief in God. Eternal damnation means nothing to an atheist. But all can feel the power of this song. It's the love and grace of God in the lyrics that moves people. If Jessie or anyone chooses to seek God then they should do so not out of fear of some kind of eternal punishment, but instead in an effort to change their lives and the lives of those around them. Recognizing and repenting our faults and sins, and living our lives for others and for God is what saves us.

  • @MegaAlexmh

I became a better person after I gave up the belief in fairy tales. I no longer have an imaginary friend to ask to forgive me; this makes me try harder to make the right decision the first time around.

  • Jessie... it breaks my heart to hear someone say that they dont believe God exist.. He does exist.. and there will be NO atheist in hell.. all will believe. hell is a very real place just as much as heaven is. and it is eternal. please let God into your heart an trust Him with your soul. He can save you.. He wants to save people , it was never meant for any one to die and to go to hell. all you have to do is repent.. and ask God to save you. GOD loves you.

  • This is very awesome!!

    I love this song.

It is one of my my favorite song. I'm envious of your talent.

  • rip spock and may the dine universal forces bring you back to your physical vessell

  • THis song is the most saddest sond i have ever heard 1: it sends chills down my spine and 2: a person who i loved this song died in a car accedent whil listening to this song in a head on colison

  • Listening to Amazing Grace being played on bagpipes sends a chill down my spine.

  • so cool. playing this song in midschool band and it has this part for clarinets. i wish i had it

  • Absolutely awesome. This song gives me chills. Very well done. I'm envious of your talent.

  • im english and i class my self as english but ive got my dads scots blood in me and i love the bagpipes the scottish that is? the irish pipes are pure shite, nsttira,,,,,,,,,

  • I'll second the motion made by Norm Sauceman1962

  • This was very well done but what really pisses me off is the people talking and shouting in the back ground.

  • I've played in a pipe band for 18 years and we see it all the time. My feelings, go through the motions, play the silly tune and go home or hang out with other band mates and play some *real* pipe music. I know there's a lot of people who just HAVE to hear AG. But seriously, I'd rather play a set of horn pipes and reels. Then go play a nice Piobaireachd for myself.

  • Couldn't have put it better myself! I've been playing remembrance ceremonies, funerals, fund raisers and even weddings where AG is always requested. Then they leave it up to me to pick the rest of the tunes for the event and they always remark afterward how great/appropriate such and such a tune was. I believe that the majority of folk just do not know that there are volumes of great tunes to be heard and they just rely on that 1 old favorite!

    PIPES UP!!!

  • NITRO SHU KIV MI TAV

  • My grandmother was buries to this song and it still gets to me when I hear it playing

  • same with me. its been a year now. and i cant stop crying when i hear this song

  • I want to say this is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard on bagpipes, if not the most beautiful piece mankind has ever created.

  • nice playing, brought tears to my irish eyes..

  • does anyone know where i can find the sheet music for the last part of the song

  • I 2nd the comment made by PeggyRoss

  • how rude of people to be talking during this song!

  • @PeggyRoss idd they have no respect :-(

  • @PeggyRoss maybe they are talking about how amazing he plays it

  • this was played at my grandmothers funeral. The piper lead the hearse into the cemetery, i was ok up until this point, but this just broke me. beautiful song, it held a little more significance as my grandmother was scottish

  • same here i tried to hold back my tears but i couldnt when we were walking out

  • Same here, except it was my godfather's funeral. He was a military veteran, had full military burial. The only time I cried that whole day was when Amazing Grace by a lone bagpiper led him from the church to the hearse, and when Taps on a lone trumpet was played at the cemetery. Both are powerful tunes to hear at that moment.

  • omg !

they played this song at my grandmas funeral and she was also Scottish, it made me cry too !

  • Mine too - but I was playing pipes, and I didn't choke up until right BEFORE I had to play...

did the piper lead the hearse once there or all the way?!

  • from when the cars entered the cemetary, up a long driveway and carried on when the pallbearer's were taking the coffin in

  • sounds really nice

  • i feel that pain, my grandmother is irish. i share ur pain, brother.

  • i am scotch-irish and this is such a beautiful song on the bagpipes kudos from the pounds clan.

  • this makes my cry becuase my uncle died yesterday at 5:10pm so it reminds me of him.

  • yea it was played at my great grandmas funeral its so sad

  • This brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. Brings back alot of good memories of friends and family that i have lost over the years. One of the best versions I have heard

  • piper played this at my dads funeral on the 6th april 2009 R.I.P dad

  • I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm sorry for your loss, my friend. Do I dare ask what happened? =/

It's ok if you don't tell me. I understand.

  • April 1, 2008....then momma may 12 2008....I feel your pain but we are never alone...

  • this was played at my uncles funeral. sorry to hear about your loss.

  • A piper also played it at my dad's funeral last september (22nd)., as the curtain came down around the coffin at the cremetorium. I sobbed, and sobbed, and held onto my 4 year old's hand; who lightened the moment by asking to go to the toilet. the innocence of children is priceless.

  • It's wierd but I din't cry but sneezed allong the song

  • I'm an Atheist and even I love hearing Amazing Grace played on bagpipes.

  • Same here...

  • @jessie74

asmazing grace is a none religous song originally. Some fools added in the lyrics about god after the writer died

  • @RectulThreat For your information, stupid! John Newton, the man who wrote this song, was a strong and devoted Christian! He wrote this song as a testimony for his salvation! Get your facts straight before you make an ignorant and biased statement like that, you ignoramous bigot!

  • @CatherineMorland19

someone that believes in burning bushes that talk is calling me ignorant ?

  • @RectulThreat Again, you're COMPLETELY IGNORANT!!!! It wasn't the bush that was talking, it was God. Why don't you actually read the Bible before you start criticizing it!!! After all, it's only logical to know about what you're criticizing. You can laugh at me all you want because I don't care!

  • @CatherineMorland19

so why did god need to use a fucking burning bush to talk ??

    XD

and you believe a 150+ year old man built a boat in the desert for all the worlds animals while the world flooded right?????

you are the ignorant one. You believe everything that is written in your stupid book without question.

your religion, just like all others before it, will fade away and cease to exist. you will have wasted your one shot at life living to worthless rules. there is no heaven, no hell

  • @RectulThreat You can call me ignorant all you want, because avoiding the truth doesn't make it go away.

I can't convince you and you can't convince me, so let's just agree to disagree and never bother each other again. How does that sound?

  • @CatherineMorland19

thats right, the TRUTH does not go away.

Where were you before you were born ?

  • @RectulThreat If you want to keep arguing then that's fine, but it's going to be a

one-sided argument. I'm done arguing with you. Bye!

  • @CatherineMorland19

when confronted by truth, the liar walks away

  • Comment removed

  • @skitique78

the village idiot involves themselves into the conversation, so to speak....
