would it be okay if my friend and i used this as the theme for our kingdom hearts games? this song is perfect for the winter feel. we promise to give credit to you ^_^
This is so beautiful~ dudeee, ur an amazing music writer~! I wish i cld have this on my ipod... Dang... y do i have to play the violin?! TT_TT I shld have played the cello...so beautiful....*tears*...jkjk, im not actually crying...or am i...? O.o
I listen to this song when I'm troubled or over-stressed. I am synesthetic, and the colors of the music, along with the beauty of the melody itself (I love the cello beyond description), can always soothe me. Thank you for that.
i can't even describe to you how much your music means to me. last summer on july 1st my rabbit who was the most important thing in the world to me died. this was the last song he ever heard while i was trying to help him relax. i used to listen to it with him in my room when we would look out the window and i couldnt think of anything more beautiful to exit this world to. so thank you, and im sorry this is long.
i love this piece so so so much. i wish i could learn it. this is just so beautiful :) i cant stop listening to it. the cello has such a pretty sound and thats why i love playing it. and you write the best pieces ever

I am planning on learning to play piano so I can play this with the girl I'm hoping to marrying, she plays cello and we both love this piece. It's amazing!
I have listened to this song so many times I've actually learned to play it on my cello and it sounds absolutely amazing, even though I dont have a pianist to play along with me. Once again, excellent job on this, I believe it will never get old or worn out. :)
I was just wondering, could you make a lullaby with viola, cello, and piano? I love your work and I listen to this song when I am working on my book, it is my favorite! If it is not too much trouble, I would greatly be obliged
Many thanks!! I get inspiration from a lot of places: other music, movies, stories, paintings... no, I never thought about music therapy, but it looks really interesting, I'll have to look into it!! Do you know much about it or how I can get more information on it?
Unfortunately I can't play the cello myself, not even sure how this lullaby might sound on a real cello... however, I believe youtube user nano240 plays the cello, and he's a great composer too.
when I go onto your site and right click the downloading arrow, it saves the picture of the arrow, not the mp3. It's a shame because your music is really beautiful.
Cello is such an amazing instrument. I actually play electric guitar, but I started writing my first "orchestral songs" a while ago (in Guitar Pro lol).
I think I have to get this Garritan Personal Orchestra. It's very cheap and sounds very authentic to me.
Wait so is the music done aritifically? The vibrato sounds so expressive it's hard to believe it's not an actual person o.0 Love it :DD I have gotta try this :D
Yeah, the instruments are technically artificial, but they're made from recording and sampling real instruments, so they're at least based on real sounds. Garritan Personal Orchestra's cello I think came out particularly well in this lullaby ... many thanks for watching! :-)
Absolute beauty. I want t learn cello, but i I can't seem to find a teacher in my area. I hae a deep respact for music, and I play clarinet. 5 years. I want to find something new, and i think cello is a very beautiful instrument. Any suggestions?
I play the cello! I love it with a passion. Have you gone to the suzuki method directory for your area? If you would like more info feel free to contact me!
Beautiful song. How do you like working with Garritan Personal Orchestra i am planing on buying it for my Sibelius program. Any comments about the program please share. thanks
You may notice in the audio bow changes are present where the score shows legato; Keep in mind, Sean hadn't created any slurring when creating the audio. Also, a whole note was changed to a double-dotted half note, due to the need for lift space.
Those who haven't been playing very long, my apologies for not creating any position markings or fingering markings for shifting on the A-string. Just choose the position you are most comfortable with and go with it.
I've given up on M.A.M... It doesn't look good choppy. I tried another program, MidiJam, and it's still choppy, but it can afford to be.
This particular song inspired me to compose a Cello Piano duet. And I actually completed it! I posted it on YouTube, using MidiJam. Will the amazing Sean Patrick Hannifin please watch and comment?
ALSO! how do you get your video framerate smooth? I've been messing with CamStudio settings (framerate, quality, etc.) and M.A.M. for a while, and the AVIs always come out choppy. Maybe you just have a good computer... Please help if you can? I have the highest framerate settings on CamStudio... I don't know what's goin' on.
Yeah, it might just be the computer's speed... I do tend to close every program except for MAM and CamStudio. The resulting AVIs are actually still a bit choppy, but after converting them to a WMV with Windows Movie Maker and then having them go through YouTube's conversion, they become a bit blurrier (which I kind of like) and smoother. If it's really really choppy, you could send me the MIDI and I could try recording it on my PC just to see if it is indeed just a matter of a slower PC.
Yeah, I tried closing every program except MAM and CamStudio. I put it in Windows Movie Maker, and after comparing to yours, my AVIs do indeed come out choppier. Funny, this is a $700 PC with Vista... No fair. =P I gotta find some other form of animation to put over my compositions. Thanks for the help!
I'm still using XP, maybe Vista is helping to slow things down... you could also try making the MAM window small and just record that little area; should take less computer power to record a smaller window that Windows Movie Maker can then later enlarge.
You could also try recording with "Camtasia Studio" ... I haven't tried it myself and unfortunately I don't think it's free, but it might work better; I think they at least have a free trial. Probably a bunch of other screen capture programs somewhere out there as well.
Okay, thank you SO much for your help. I REALLY appreciate it. Now that the free Finale Notepad 2008 came out with the MIDI extraction feature, I wanna post my compositions up like you. Unfortunately, it's a very MIDI sounding library that sounds HORRIBLE... I'll try to find some way to change the instrument sound and another way to make the AVIs less choppy. Thanks again!
God, I wish I could compose as well as you can. And as fast. I tend to procrastinate; I got about 20 songs unfinished. xD
Wow, the Cello. My favorite instrument, quite difficult to play. Would probably be difficult to play as high as you've written too. It sounds really nice!
I love the cello's sound as well, and I'm rather spoiled instrumentation wise as GPO will play everything just about perfectly even if they'd be more challenging in real life.
That particular melody where the cello goes high also helped get the piano get out of that pitch for a while, as I thought it was getting monotonous, and after a few listens I really liked the cello changing it's pitch for a while too, especially with the rising nature of its melody in that part. :-)
Really a nice piece, Sean --- I can tell it's going to be running through my head for the rest of the day! And I think this "balls and lines" display is really well suited to the slow 'cello part.
