According to your logic, hundreds of years of democracy "have failed to bring peace" in these countries, so many places in these countries should be independent? Whosoever the torch bearers are, they are being forced by communist china. Politicizing olympic game is bad but still china cannot destroy tibetan determination to rise against china. Fifty years of brutal oppression has failed to bring any peace in Tibet and more protests will take place during olympic not only by tibetan but also everyone one who desires peace, freedom, human rights and democracy. um, one of the torchbearers is caidan zhuoma, a tibetan folk singer. she was the most popular singer in china in the 60s. another is han hong, a tibetan pop star, who always include tibet in her songs. and no, they aren't forced to do it. you know how many tibetans want to be torchbearers, to gain pride for their culture, and u say the few tibetans that've been allowed to carry the torch are forced to do so? u watch way to much CNN.
Tibetans in exiled and those currently living abroad may not identify themselves as "Tibetans." But the reality is that Tibetans in China are Tibetan Chinese. Only Tibetan Chinese can speak out for themselves. Many Tibetan overseas are just putting up political shows, propanganda, and and spreading hatred wherever they go.
The last torch runner in Lhasa, Madam Caidan Zhuoma, and another Tibetan junior female singer, Han Hong, are my most fond singers. Like many people in China and many overseas Chinese here, I like listen to their Tibetan songs, getting happiness and optimism from them.
By the way, Madam Caidan Zhuoma and Miss Han Hong' parents are former Tibetan slaves in old Tibet before Dalai Lama was exiled. They call themselves "Fanshennongnu", meaning liberated slaves, they love Tibet, they love China.
