I laugh at your feeble "spicy chicken broth"! Hahahaha Balsamic vinegar and crushed red pepper? That's pathetic compare to the authentic Szechuan hot pot broth. As for your chicken broth, add couple sprigs of green onion in there.
@GooseHinson I'm pleased you are easily amused! After you're done laughing, perhaps you can share you own version for others to comment on as you have. Thanks for the suggestion about the green onions and for watching!
@GooseHinson Thanks for sharing! She shares an excellent recipe. Did you notice that early on she says that viewers can adjust the spiciness and ingredients? People can make recipes their own by changing them. After all, all recipes were made up at some point in the past. As I took the time to read through the wonderful comments from viewers, I was disappointed to read some comments that were not very respectful and even belittled her recipe as not being authentic...poor form don't you agree?
@cmtoy I agree that people who make disrespectful remarks on her video are out of line. Because her recipe is authentic to somewhat authentic and quality is very good. I am sorry that I hurt your feelings, but balsamic vinegar and a tablespoon of crushed red pepper in your broth is just nowhere near the flavor and spiciness of that girl's recipe. Just a little constructive criticism and it was done in jest.
@GooseHinson Apology accepted, but unnecessary! It isn't about feelings as much as quality of conversation. There's no way to start an interesting or constructive conversation around the kind of comment you opened with. In contrast ,your suggestion to add green onions was constructive, as was sharing the video. Had you said you like it hotter and described how you make it, I would have thanked you for the advice! Even better would have been a video of how YOU do it so much better! make sense?
@cmtoy You take yourself too seriously, come on, get over it. LOL My initial comment was just being honest, no disrespect intended. I honestly think what I wrote. Maybe your "spicy chicken broth" is good enough for you. Maybe you're not concern with authenticity or what not. To each his own.
so this is not for family dinner lets say 4-5 people more of 1-2 people... since its only 1 pot and if u want 5 people to all put their food in the broth and its going to have too much stuff in it and people wouldnt be able to pick up what they've put in there since its be all mixed up, and u cant do it separate since, it will mean other people will have to wait till urs stuff is cooked correct?
@R3fLeCt3D The size hotpot I'm using is good for four people. When I teach or entertain larger groups I use two or more hotpots. You'll also notice that the pot is a "yin and yang" style pot with two compartments. You can put several people's ingredients in at the same time and share! Thanks for watching and posting your question!
@Guleimbesat Well, study hard for a few hours then take a break and go shopping. Come back and study hard for a few more hours, then take a break to eat hotpot! You'll study better with a couple breaks and a full stomach! Good luck with finals and thanks for watching!
@ithrowyoucatch Oh my! Interesting comment. As I tell my students, cook first, then judge for your own tastes. Have you tried the recipe? If not, do give it a go and THEN please share how your cooking came out for you! Thanks for watching though!
@ithrowyoucatch Remember that as some time in the past every recipe was made up by someone, and every culture/region/family/individual has their own recipe. A recipe or technique may not be familiar to you, but that does not make it less authentic to the creators. Perhaps you have recipes of your own to share?
I love asian culture in their foods, its so rich and creative, I've tried a lot of your recepies and even tweaked them to my own personal liking a bit Lol i LOVE making asian foods of all different kinds, just the rich flavors that they bring out has all my friends wanting me too cook for them lol. Thanks for making all of your awesome videos :) I've learned a lot from you, and please start posting more videos of cooking, all of your fans and subscribers love them :D Have a nice day!
@sz218 That's what's so great about food and cooking...everyone can choose whether to enjoy or not enjoy it, and have their own experience without judging other's tastes. Thanks for watching and I do hope you enjoy your hotpot without rice...give it a try with rice anyway!
@Ub3rUs3rSup3rb True! There's lots of creativity in all cuisines I think. Even the British have lots of ways to overcook their food! ;-) Thanks for watching!
@MrBastiful Hmmm...maybe Fondue is the Swiss version of Chinese Hotpot! There's quite a price range for the hotpots depending on whether the type of pot, heating sources, metal used, etc. I've seen lightweight ones to be used on a separate hot plate for as little as $10.00 USD. Self contained heavy duty stainless with a built in electric element can run as high as $100. Looking on the internet is lots of fun, although time consuming. Thanks for your questions and for watching!
@cmtoy your welcome. I really do enjoy watching your cooking videos. I haven't tried this receipt yet cause I've been busy. Over the break I will probably try it.
Hi tommie314101! But of course! Actually the hot and sour side could have been hotter. So make a note to add two tablespoons of red pepper. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, the pot is pretty cool. There's a store in San Francisco call the wok shop. You can order one from them. You can also find them on Ebay. Most have a straight divider. I had to look around for the curved yin yang pot. I bought the one in the video from a department store in Japan. I managed to fi tin into my carry on bag for the flight home! Thanks for watching!
I think it does. Many recipes for homemade hoisin sauce include ketchup and soy. I just simplified it to two parts ketchup and one part soy sauce. Give it a try! You can add honey, peanut butter, or pepper to change the flavor, but the basic flavors are soy and ketchup! Thanks for watching!
It tastes even better. It's a great winter dish. Everyone gathers round and enjoys the hot soup. The spicier the soup the hotter the party! Thanks for watching!
