  • bit silly ending with the A at the top of the chord there Thom

  • anybody happen to know what pedal ed is using in this performance?

  • Men, Radiohead is bloody awesome! I love this song, this band. It´s fucking brilliant.

  • this is the best of all the songs from live from the basement. its perfect.

  • Best version of "videotape"

    highlights hidden feelings

  • 01:25 Phillip is getting very bored...... :/

  • "This is my way of saying goodbye..."

  • best song of the 00s.

  • colins t-shirt = TKOL

  • IM DYING

  • This is the ultimate version of this song. It's a masterpiece. It should be shared worldwide, it would really open people's eyes up to how they view life.

  • Amazing...

  • With this song i travel everytime in an other world ...

  • I love how Jonny starts dancing along with Phil`s drums at 3:56, lost in the immersive effect that Ed`O Brien is bringing to the table, while Thom plays that beautiful piano melody and Colin keeps everybody in line. These 5 fellows were meant to be.

  • 0 unlikes rarity on youtube :P

  • this is perfect..

  • best version of videotape!

believe me, I'm a fan of this song and i've heard many live versions of it)

    ONLY 27 813 VIEWS, WHY?!!

  • These guys are geniuses.

  • They all look so into their music, so so beautiful

  • 3:50 Ed dl4 sweep echo settings anyone?

  • 3:52 how does Ed get that guitar sound?

  • Today has been the most perfect day I have ever seen.

  • So beautiful... just wow!

  • 1:10 agent 47 in the drums

  • @GodofRock007 no, it's philip selway, one of the 5 greatest bamfs of all time. Douche.

  • @SuperiFox think he was probably joking... lol

  • @ScreamingTamrin i know, but it's phil. you don't diss phil.

  • this man sings with every single cell of his body...

  • Mother of mercy.

  • This is, BY FAR, the best version I've ever seen of Videotape. Not even the first versions like in Hammersmith or Bonnaroo make me feel like I do when I hear this one.

Ed is absolutely BRILLIANT here. The effects he makes are fantastic. I get goosebumps and almost cry every time I listen to this masterpiece.

There aren't enough compliments to describe this fuckin Brilliant performance.

Cudos to Radiohead. The BEST band in this Universe.

  • @erichflanela The holy triad of music: The Beatles, Radiohead, and Muse.

  • @RandomHero5677 More like Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Porcupine Tree.

  • @InsomniumX In my opinion, Pink Floyd fell off after Waters left.

  • @RandomHero5677 Very true. However, in the period from Atom Heart Mother to The Wall they released some of the most beautiful music ever made.

  • @InsomniumX well of course, it's Pink Floyd :)

  • @RandomHero5677 muse? haha...sure mate

  • @erichflanela you almost cry, too? DUDE! i really wish this was the studio version.

  • @erichflanela I couln't said it better. Bless you...

  • does anybody know how Ed makes that guitar effect starting from 3:52? What pedal he would of used to make it?

  • Comment removed

  • Seen Radiohead live a few different times. I've seen U2, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, NIN, A Perfect Circle, etc. No other performers/bands have what Radiohead has live. As awesome as every Radiohead album is, they don't compare to their live performances. This video is just one example of that.

  • just 3 piano chords

and they get this song¡¡¡ wow¡¡

  • @rodofiux it's actually 5 chords in the whole circle, but is still surreal

  • @thatguitarkid i know what you mean, but i just count a good radiohead performance as any time they let ed do something amazing like that. the scotch mist version of this song is pretty amazing too

  • This is pretty much perfect.

  • I love radiohead song's because they tell me that everything is going to be fine.

  • I can't believe how much they improved the In Rainbows version for playing live. SO much better.

  • It looks like Ed's about to cry at about 4:17, I don't blame him

  • one of my favorite Radiohead songs. they are the best.

  • one of the best, most beautiful songs OF ALL TIME.

  • The first song that ever made me cry because of music. This song is a expertly constructed masterpiece.

  • Worth at least 100 pennies.

  • I like the solo piano version better, y'know what I mean, this is just one of those songs that benefits from the solo effect, kinda like with Street Spirit having just guitar and backing synths

  • @itsachickenwiththing Solo or with the band, the song is always, without question, no matter how it's played, the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

  • Is amazing, this song makes me crazy, like in a trance....

    is really a masterpiece

  • Unos de los discoas más esperado y elaborados por parte de la banda, realmente dictan cómo debe ser la música de hoy, bien por RH.

  • shame Thom didnt sing the outro. Other than that, great!

  • @TehWinnerz Agreed. I miss that outro.

  • this song make me cry this song is in my opinion the best song has been written

  • I've bought the fucking expensive Japanese cd+dvd version of In Rainbows just because I love this concert and that dvd includes only 7 songs (not Videotape). I hope the band consider to release the full concert on dvd sometime.

  • Stunning. That's easily my favourite rendition of the 'in Rainbows' version of the song (still love the uptempo version from Bonnaroo).

  • this is an amazing version

  • even the hundred years later people gonna listen radiohead and they gonna cry like us

  • I find the bass drum sound at the beginning really jarring.

But it's radiohead! does it get any better???

  • @spazabarri yeah, for the first 30 seconds I was convinced that someone had made a piss-take video. Never heard it sound like that before

  • this is probably my favorite recording/performance of videotape

  • i found In Rainbows to be yet another masterpiece from Radiohead..this song being definatley one of my favs on the album besides Weird Fises/ Arpeggie and Reckoner..i fuckin love Radiohead!!!

  • I like this version a little more than Thom alone because I think Ed adds a incredible atmosphere.

  • the thom yorke version on his own is even better.

  • i want to cry

  • anyone know what kind of drum machine jonny is using?

  • tr-909

  • Roland TR-909

  • Best band of all time.

    No question.

  • @spencerkeegan ONE of the best bands of all time...

  • One of the only songs that can make me tear up instantly... just beautiful.

  • oh I totally agree

  • This has been my favorite youtube video for a few months now. The last minute is pure musical bliss - thanks for putting it up.

  • so fucking beautiful.

  • I need to know, what is the effect that ed o brien is using in the end of the song.

  • Sounds like a heavy use of reverb and echo with some pitch shifting putting it up an octave or so. I know he has an elextro harmonix memory man hazarai and a digitech whammy pedal. Maybe a pairing of those two.

  • This one has me stumped... but I imagine a Whammy plus Memory Man could possibly work, but I don't know if it would explain the almost wah type envelope thing going on.

  • You can definitely hear the whammy during the second half when it goes up, but maybe a volume pedal just cranked to shit, possibly a holy grail for the ambiant bit, and sounds like delay too

  • I'm thinking maybe it's not a Whammy anymore. The pitch shifting up could be explained by him just moving from the lower part of the barre chord towards the higher strings, couldn't it?

  • Thats definitely what I initially thought, but my buddy has a whammy and after playing a round with it a little, im pretty certain thats whats going on. BUT if you dont have whammy(most of us) thats definitely how you can get the same sound

  • it's delay and wah. the notes are not changing. you're hearing the frequencies change from a low frequency to high frequency... the lows clear out and the highs come in to make the treble rign more clear making the notes appear to get higher, but not so.

that's the way i hear it anyway.

  • its a small stone phaser doing that wah-like sound. with whammy and Akai delay.

  • This proves that Radiohead as a band are gods among people

  • dios

  • Ohh... ohhhhh my god... ahhh... brillliaaannnt!!!

  • i literally shit and piss my pants every time i hear this masterpiece

  • @kaleid83 the good ol' shit/piss.

  • What it means when you say "literally"
