A Great Tribute to a Great Guitar Picker for sure~Anyone that can paly beside and Compliment Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed is One of a kind ~Ty for all of the GREAT memories~Truly a great Guitarist in hiis own rigth taht NEVER wanted the Spotlight ~just to Play with the Greatest all the time~Ty for your Picking Paul~ Steve Paolo
Paul Yandell is a true amercan musical icon, Could there be a guitarist that could look away when this man is laying down one of his amazing melodies? Thanks for this great tribute!!!
I agree with you Richard and there is a new kid on the block named DOYLE DYKES. well he isn't exactly a kid. I really like your music too Richard. Some of the best. Al Chastain from Kansas is great too, but he is never in the public eye.
Thanks betaloftwill for posting, great arranfement
Paul was a monster talent in his own right, just as accomplished as Chet. He didn't play behind the big names because he had too. Friendship, admiration and professionalism. Hell, given that kind of talent how many of us wouldn't have been flattered to death to play behind any of those guys.
Never heard of Paul in my life apart from Les, Chet, Jerry, Hank Garland. To be honest, this sound is so beautiful. I love it. I think I am going to spend more time learning more about Paul's music since all my favourite musician artists were Chet, Jerry and Hank are all gone with Les just passed away last week. Thanks for this post. Cheers!
I have spent so many hours researching Paul and Chet, and have actually grown to feel I know both men, and have deeply appreciated and respected Paul Yandells work and talent. I see humility in both of these men, the kind that sets an example for you to change your life by as a result. Thanks Paul, you are a master all on your own!! Bruce Werner
I agree. He sat behind Chet and Jerry Reed so much and never really got his name out there. But that wasn't what he was going for. He was content playing at an extremely high level behind the greatest guitarists in the world.
Paul Yandell is no doubt one of the best guitarists around. Besides Chet, of course he's one of my fav too. But to my dismay, correct me if I'm wrong...I've never seen any established magazines ranked them in at least top 100 best guitarists? If this is because of genre, then fine. But they ranked Robert Johnson, B.B King along with those rock & metal guitarist from Jimmy Page to Kirk Hammett or even Joan Jett!!..and overlooked Paul & Chet?
well most of those stupid mags only cocentrait on who can play fast, they dont jugde on real players, check out scotty andersen too more chops than a butcher shop
I briefly met Paul Yandell at Carnegie Hall in NYC in 1979 I believe. He was a very nice guy who just happened to be one of the best guitarists in the world. Paul, thanks for the autograph, I still have it!
Paul one of the best guitarist who ever worked in Nashville. Even today he can still hold his own with any of the younger generation players. Thx for posting this memory
WOW!!!! Is all I can say.....Paul deserves all the recognition that we can give him. I know him to be a quiet unselfish giving man who was blessed to have known Chet Atkins. Of course he could not have stayed with Chet unless he had enormous talent to rival Chet's. We love you Paul and many thanks to Al Baggetta for posting this....Roger Pratt

There are a few that I consider to be my guitar heroes; but none stand taller than Paul Yandell. An unsung hero, if there ever was one.

and help Chet shine.

Thanks for posting the tribute. Would you be kind enough to name the opening number, and perhaps the recording where it can be found?
