Great engine, yours seems to handle higher speeds better. Above 5k RPM mine just gets louder (alot louder, overpowers the whine that you can hear in your video) but doesnt really seem to go anywhere. I think mines not getting enough water to the prop
@CompCrasher86 Check the prop, you may need to change pitch. I had another boat that had a four blade custom prop and had the same issue, past 5k it seemed that the boat was not getting faster. I changed to a 3 blade OMC viper with a cup, and that woke things up ALOT.
Have you measured mileage at different speeds? My boat is not on plane much, as the water is choppy, so slower speeds really kill the two stroke performance of my old Johnson 120 two stroke. Great, great engine--oil injected, and does pretty well at plane, horrible at slow speeds. So, I need to figure out what I can expect from the 140 Suzuki on my 19.5 Arima at slow, and higher speeds. thanks.
@jimquantic I'm not sure what hull type you have, mine is a tunnel hull. This motor likes to be run at high rpm's and will do well with almost all applications of hulls as long as you are not looking for instant hole shot. Keep in mind that prop plays a big factor in the performance.
@aredelta The Arima is a Semi V hull, built really more for stability while fishing than speed. The 120 Johnson pushes it up on plane pretty well, but only in very calm water. As I mentioned, due to ocean chop, it often is not running on plane, so lower RPM performance is what I want to gain with any four stroke. I'm trying to roughly estimate what I might get (ballpark) with a Suzuki 140, thanks.
humm new suzuki looks great. Old suzuki was not tops in old 2stroke carby
