  • that's not fair how come programmers get paid more on average 85k and Game designers get paid over 65k. i say they should both get paid about the same on average fuck the bonuses you can't count on that! that like a spit on an artist face. i would not waste my talent on these company's or any game industry i will work my but off making my own independent small company studios instead and built my games from then on. and i would hire drop outs they sometimes know more than PP with a title.

  • There are millions of designers and only a couple hundred jobs paying in the 100k area.

Dream big, but don't expect miracles.

  • A millionaire in ten years :D

  • Hello, I H0PE someone helps me! My Dream is to become a Game Designer but not ( Maybe) a Progammer ( Even though you will learn in College). Do I REALLY need to know Alot and Understanding of Math or do I have to understand the Basics and What I Learnd from College to become a GameDesginer, because the course classes I've seen, there are no math classes at all. I've seen different kinds of jobs(Artist,Animator,GameDesigner,Progammer) why is there list? I Thought GameDesigner meant all that? Ty

  • @lorf151 don't bother with these companies built your own small studios with a group of friends.they pay on average 65k as to programmers at 85k that's a spit in my face as an artist i mean why should they get more it should be about even.i mean game designers have to learn more things than programmers do meaning you have more school time more money to pay them and even have to know how to program shit too.programmer only programs because there not artistically talented but gt paid more anyways.

  • new gender RPGs So many allow male and female characters and by that ALL games should have gender choices even in games like battlefield and cod because i mean there is plenty of women soldiers I know one

  • Wat about a game programmer thats what i want to be wat that sallery

  • @xXxstewiedudexXx its a little more then a games designer.

  • I am a girl and I REALLY want to become a game designer

It has always been my passion, I would love to work in the artistic part of game design, like making 3D models and animating.

My problem is: I don't know where to find a good course which will teach me what I want to learn. I've been researching for the longest time, and it's so confusing

I still have one year of highschool to go, and right now I'm an exchange student in Toronto, where I'm planning to go to university.

  • @BlueL20 god... shutup im sorry for being a douche but just shutup i dont really think people on youtube will care about ur problems, im not sexist this isnt cuz u are a girl.. just please stop

  • @CatPerson911 Well, as much as you don't care about my problems, I don't care about your rude opinion. I never expected an anwer and had already forgoten about this comment. If you didn't want to seem like a douche and don't care about what I say, you shouldn't have wasted your precious time answering my comment in first place. Why are you even reading youtube comments? Seriously :P

  • @BlueL20 im a girl too and also want to do animation and im on the same page as you i have no clue where to start and uh catperson your a douche

  • @jess3336677 That's cool! We should do what we love, always :)

The problem is where to start from, I hope I can find a good place to learn, maybe a course or something before university would be good too, I'm already looking for that. Oh, nevermind him, some people have nothing better to do besides minding other's business, I don't even care xP

  • @CatPerson911 six easy words for you to hopefully understand: Dont Like It Dont Read It.

  • @BlueL20 try " Full Sail University" its the college ill be attending here in 2 weeks, its a great program and if becoming a game designer is what your looking for it would be a great choice.

  • guys! i wanna be a video game progammer/producer or whatever that connects with gaming. im good in BASIC maths, plus minus multiply divide, not the advance maths, im very creative, i draw good, easier said im quite smart but not so smart and not so stupid.

so which degree should i pursue? Gaming Art, Gaming Design, Gaming Developer.

    which should i choose?thanks

  • @cacatboy I would say you should pursue Gaming Art, mostly for the fact that game developers and designers require quite of bit of intellect (not calling you dumb btw). Gaming art is fun to do and could help you pursue Gaming Design too.

  • @KidAce10

    thanks dude

  • @cacatboy No Problem, I had trouble deciding my future too. Gaming Is a good job to pursue. Anyways Good Luck :D

  • Well getting your degree and trying to get a job is a good thing most do it. But there are some that don't even got degrees and just start their own game company some of them have even become some of the famous game companies of all time. And by that I mean before they never designed a game for someone. Such people are creator of Pokemon, made his own game company without college, creator of Crash Bandicoot made his own along with Jak and Daxter and other big time games.

  • 94% are male? Ouch o.e

  • over 16,000 videos WTF!

  • Game Designing salaries are variable and extremely performance-based.

So the harder you work to achieve your goals, the more you will make down the road.

It is not uncommon to see Senior Designers or Director/Principals raking up salaries ranging from 100,000 to 300,000$/year excluding Bonus.

If you make a "hit", you'll become rich even with a small commission rate.

So don't be afraid if your first job pays peanuts, the point is to get experience and climb the ladder to the big spots.

  • @WarrenAch in a nut shell- capitalism!

  • 94% are male!!?? If they want a female then It's like they're calling for me. And no wonder I know so many girls who don't like video games.

  • I would LOVE to become a video game designer...there's a EA sports building in front of my moms job, I would love to walk in there as an employee one day. How do I achieve this like what do I take in college to become a video game designer and soon director...Thanks in advance

    -Adrian

  • @waxon0waxoff i also want to become a game desinger got any tips for me :D?? lol like what i need to learn and stuff thanks man :)

  • @Distrub122334 lol well im not 100% sure on what exactly you need. But I know if you want to be like a army type first person shooter such as medal of honor or call of duty. You need to know your american history. Hope that helped a bit =]

  • i love the way americans say .com ''daat caammm''

  • 94% of game designers are guys!? No wonder most of the female characters in games are dressed so slutty (and usually with huge-ass boobs)! D:< I can't wait until they make a game where the girls are actually dressed half-decently (If they'll ever do that), because all they ever wear is basically a bra and thong.

This isn't the only reason, of course, but I am so going to get into the game industry!

  • @ochahane

Well, you can almost take it the other way around.

Most male characters have a six-pack. good looks, and so forth.

You don't wanna be looking at some bald fat-ass on your screen while playing, right.

    Same with the female characters.

Me my self doesn't pay all that much attention on the characters looks, but its the obvious reason.

  • @Zeratchi actually playing a game like dead rising or somtin would be fun with a random fat ass

  • @PsWiieR

He he .. True enough.. But that wasn't the point :P

  • @ochahane If this is what it takes for females to join the gaming industry, BRING ON THE HUGE BOOBS!!!!

  • @ochahane Skyrim

  • @ochahane World of warcraft.

  • i need some help, i wanna become a game designer and im 16 right now. i have idea what i have to do to get to that. can some1 plz help me out here

  • hey eHow, i do have a question now i dont want to be a video game designer or anything like that but i have ideas for a video game. So how would i get my ideas to a game designer? im think about just emialing them or something but i dont really know

  • I am planning on becoming a 3D animation modeler sometime in the future and I love videogames!!!!

  • I love videogames... its my life

  • i wanna be a game designer and im one of the best in my shool and im only in the thirth ;;;; but wth doe i need to reach the job

  • @superstijn16 Dont be braggin about that. You gotta know that even if you are the best in your school. it does not mean that you're better than the millions of people in the world.

  • @odeliah101 i given up already .. my 3d was good but my french didnt ..; and i didnt pass :*(

  • @superstijn16 me too I hate french

  • i don`t think soo... females don`t like shooting games and dark games, witch are the most sold ones..

  • I will become a video game designer.

  • i want to be a game designer..what do i have to study in college to do this?

  • @west93 video game design?

  • @mat967 -__...there is obviously more majors to study like Computer Science and stuff

  • hey i wanna be a game designer, im only 14 now and i need work experinace do you no anyone who would learn how to work there, hopfully near chelmsford

  • i agree females need to be included more in the industry. they give a completely different and very useful point of view on things.

  • Great Videos

  • Where are most of this game artist jobs located ?, I'm thinking of going to school for game art ...

  • Or go to B-School,study accounting, then get a high paying job straight out...if money is what you're looking for,get an M.B.A...yes,an M.B.A...why?BECAUSE IT'S BUSINESS RELATED,business=money, even a person with an IQ below 30 would know that.

Yes,you won't make tons of money as an entry-level MBA...but after 5 years,3/4 of the MBA holders usually make over 250k/year...don't go to game industry,it's the kind of place where the talented gets the job,if you're there for money only, you'll fail.

  • i really want to do this!

  • 13 year old female right here..Im thinking

about doing this but I dnt kno

  • Same here

    Not the girl part

    The game part.

  • @nay31696 Go for it. Worst thing that could happen is you settle for a career in programming or modeling, which is good enough as it is. Best thing is you could be a role model for women in an ever expanding, filthy rich, industry

  • i want to do this also but it seams like ALOT of responcibility and im not exactly sure what a game designer does cause i mean basicly once you write the script and do all thos things your done, but idk what else they do and what if the game dosnt sell well, will you still get payed?

  • @nay31696 Hey nay Im female and im going into this, if your intrested you should take any computer art classes you can. I also recoment reading the rules to as meany board games and roleplaying games as you can get your hands on and try to play them at least a few times. You will get a better understanding of what actually gose into a game, paper and pen roleplaying games are the best for learning these things espically what gose into a good story.

  • @fireflygirl246 Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

  • @nay31696 np hun, we need more girl in this industry, don't not do it because its a "guys" job, I wanted to do this in high school, but I was discuraged for that reason and I'm now 30 and I wish I was doing this for the last ten years. Find what your dream is and go for it, if its video games or not, just go for your dream no matter what anybody says, good luck.

  • @fireflygirl246 yay for girls. Im a girl too, but I don't learn game designing in my school until grade eleven... So you're saying that I sould jump right into it??

  • @odeliah101 :) I think after grade 11 you should take a video game design course or a graphics design course. I dose not seem to matter what school as long they give you lots of lab time and let you develope your own prodjects, its those demo games that will get you a Job. My couse is only 18 monthes with out a summer break, so it dose not take long to go through a course like that.

  • @fireflygirl246 Oh. We already have graphics and media, media deals with camrah's and animation and grapgics is with photoshop. What do you mean by demo games??

  • @odeliah101 well if your just going in as a graphic artist you can just show off your animations. If you want to be a game designer you need to have created some of your own games or at least built a few good maps for other games like quake engine or something like that. A compete mod with new graphics and story using the quake engine or some other engine would be great.

  • @fireflygirl246 hey ya can you give me tips on what i need to become a game desinger can you please give some tips on everything i need to learn please :)

  • @Distrub122334 I would take things like 3D graphic design and animation in collage and In my spare time I would try and come up with projects to do, like building a new map for a game or like with neverwinter nights build a whole new chapter of the game. You need a good demo reel of levels and games that you have designed. A private collage the just focuses on game design is also good but be careful to pick one with a good reputation.

  • This is good money, and i've been thinking about being one. i guess i'll look for that job lol. im only 13 so...

  • So, how much would an entry-level designer make on average?

  • i'll be going to school for Game Arts and Animation.

  • are you serious? 50k for being a mid-level game designer and 100k plus more when you are a Game Director? (no wonder so many gamers [including myself] want this job so badly)

  • very informative - i have to agree with you about the need for more females in the industry - they add a different POV when it comes to design and have many fresh ideas

  • @disskotube well I'm going to school in october for game design, so there will be one more female game designer in the industry. I agree with more and more women playing games these days we need more female designers, but since more women are playing games we do have more women intrested in going into the field. As of 2008 there was only 8% of game designers were female, come on ladies lets change that!

  • @fireflygirl246

What school? I am looking at Full Sail

  • @BoozysBoozers RCC institute in Toronto Canada. From what I have been told it dose not really matter what school you go to. Look at the equipment they have and ask to see some of the students work. The industry dose not really care about what school you went to, they will want to see your what work you have done. So the course should have alot of lab time to do your own work and allow you to do creative projects so you can let your creativity shine for that all importent first intrerview.

  • @disskotube Im a girl, and I wan't to become a game designer XD

  • @disskotube A WOMAN FIRED IS A PENNY SAVED

  • I will become a character designer. sooner or later

  • i want to do that
