Uribe didn't have any other option than to beg for forgiveness. He is such a clown, backed by a biggest clown Bush. They are both really ignorant and mediocre. All Latinamerican Presidents slapped him in the face. Now he knows he won't be able to pull another one of his "stunts".
I praised President Uribe, because he do what a leader can do to stop the tensions, As for the two: you already unpopular to your countrymen, specially you lose applaused from the big latin american countries you expect to support yours; a good leader always reconcile with his opponents: Uribe do it
GO COLOMBIA!!!!!!! God bless you....Senor Uribe I salute you!!!!! because you show those two what a true leader is....
It seems the Western media will try to demonize Correa and Chavez, not to mention underminding Latin Leaders on their leadership...please. Latin America wants peace and new way of living. BUSH, Uribe wants to death. FARC and Colombian Paramilitary should put down their weapons and work out their differences.
I agree with mmzambrano... and SOYYOEH, my country isnt hiding terrorist cells... if they cross the border ilegally, it is not our fault simply because it is not our problem... Colombia is supposed to stay in the border to fight against FARC. We have lots of problems with the Nina Phenomenom and the eruption of the Tungurahua Volcanoe...
Ecuador and Venezuela hide terrorist cells, it's not the duty of Colombia to stop them...the whole world should fight the Castro, Chavez, Morales and Kirchner of this world whose reign is based on terror and death, helding hostages and making money out of drugs.
HahaGeorge Bush joined in, and jumped to his ally's defense. Well he should as Washington provides Colombia with over $600 million a year and all for one purpose - to support repression and the interests of capital at the expense of beneficial social change.
The problem is that the dirty, cagey and terrorist ecuatorians, like the hysterical president they are pals with the farc. Anybody cares a miserable country of midgets indians as equator, but if they become allies of the terrorism, drug traffic, kidnapping, slavery, they should be flat as a cockroach.
FHCHO... you are such an asshole ignorant man... Colombias must thank our country because we give jobs to their people... they come here to clean WC, sell their nasty bread in their bakeries and work as prostitutes... And we have not INDIANS... we have AMERICANS !!!... and proud of them...
Obviously here is an example of person that allow terrorism. If terrorit use another countries to hide and are hlping in dark deals with its hider the only way to destroy that terroists is by attacking them furtivally but using the Ginebra's council rules
yeah, who gives a fuck if they were nacked or in pijamas? i say kill them all and let god sort them out later, if there is such a thing as a god. Viva Colombia, Viva Uribe.
Columbia has a right to defend its territory against the rebel FARC, though it would have been good for them to at least notify Ecuador of what they were doing. Ecuador has the right to defend itself if attacked, but they should not shelter the FARC, and the attack was not against Ecuador but against FARC. Venezuela (which is to say, their little dictator wannabe Chavez) shouldn't be making such a fuss over a dispute between Columbia and Ecuador. I find the whole thing rather sad.
this was not a defensive military operation. Colombia lied and said they were in hot pursuit of the rebels but they were all found dead in their pajamas. this happened the day they were supposed to meet envoys from France to negotiate the release of 12 hostages, meaning the raid was likely carried out to derail the talks.
It doesn't really matter whether the terrorists are in their pajamas or their combat boots, you get 'em when you can get 'em. More power to the good guys in Columbia!
it does matter if you're going to invade another country's air space and territory, and claim it was a defensive maneuver when it was clearly not. people in south america still respect international law and national sovereignty, so your "good guys" look a lot like the terrorists in Washington.
When you're injured, you do what you can as fast as you can to stop the bleeding. Columbia is bleeding to death from a thousand cuts due to FARC, and they need to stop it. This action took out one of their main leaders, and thus was justified, in spite of the difficulty to follow. There's plenty of evidence that Chavez and his cohorts in neighboring countries have been sheltering and supporting FARC, and any notice given to Ecuador could have warned their targets. Could they have done better?
@ ccoraxfan: I agree with you 100%. Colombia's actions in dealing with the FARC guerilla cannot be compared to the actions of the Bush administration in Iraq. Colombia did not go for Ecuadorian citizens, but for terrorists who had found a safe haven in neighboring country from which to plan their war on a legitimate elected government. Also, this was not a "premptive" strike in a premptive war, but rather an accomplishment for the long-lasting Colombian campaign against the guerrilla.
Thank you for reporting on this. No matter if the Colombian government says it was killing the rebels in Ecuador for its own defense, the vital fact that cannot be disputed is that Colombia did not advise Ecuador of its intention to cross the border, and that is a violation of the sovereignty of Ecuador. No matter the reason, no country has the right to invade another; that's an act of war. Correa had every right to respond the way he did, and I'm glad that Chavez backed him up.
colombia would have reported their plans to ecuador previously if the ecuadorean president was an honourable man.. but instead, he's one more terrorist who supports the Colombian terrorists, and he would have warned them, and colombia wouldn't have been able to kill those bastards... so it had to be done that way. we are vey proud of Uribe for what he's done, and and we trust that he will continue to kill the farc members... URIBE DESERVES TO BE REELECTED FOR HIS HEROIC ACTIONS!!
"no matters the reason"? we've been trying to stop the guerillas for over 40 years, this was a perfect opportunity to kill that evil man, who was responsible for so many injustices and assesinations, it was a very good news for all colombians, finally that man was dead! thanks God, and Ecuador was hidind him

I believe that you turned the news upside down. You didnt put the part that Uribe (the only guy really fighting the bad guys in latin america), says to Correa after an endless pointless speach that his communist talk using cinism to lie to their people as well as Chavez was his only weapon. Uribe showed the other "presidents" how to give a real speach backed with evidence and numbers and admitting all sorts of accusations in contrary with endless speaches used to not get to a certain point.
This is a dispute between Colombia and Ecuador which should have been settled via the OAS all along (with the regional leaders rightfully siding with Ecuador on the issue of sovereignty). Instead Chavez tried to pull a Galtieri by involving Venezuela in this dispute to try and spark up domestic nationalism. And the kiddies in the U.S. who know nothing about Venezuela and Latin America eat it all up. Ask a real Colombian what they think about the FARC, you won't get romanticized BS.
I am not fan of Uribe, what he did to Ecuador has no justification, but the fact that he ate his ego and ask forgiveness is remarkable for a politician. Usually those people never accept mistakes publicly.
they identified the devil amongst them quickly and terminated him. Why can't we do that? Because there is no unity among Americans. We are to busy fighting eachother off.
The poison in their food, their TV, their distractions and police state keeps them in fear of raising up in arms like FARC, which are only a consequence of an oppressing oligarchy trying to rule a country.
Better start thinking clear, Americans.
America is the nucleus of the New World Order.
Stop being an accomplice of an international genocide.
With the fall of the soviet union the right declared victory of their stupid ideology over the socialist stupid ideology. It is the right who are brainwashed NOW.
They are thinking this from the Yankee point of view and are ignorant of the governments of Ecuador, Venezuela and the rest. It is rational in it's own right, but it is incorrect in the right context.

I am not fan of Uribe, what he did to Ecuador has no justification, but the fact that he ate his ego and ask forgiveness is remarkable for a politician. Usually those people never accept mistakes publicly.

Yes, I agree.
Son sus mentiras y distorsiones de los hechos lo que molesto al pueblo ecuatoriano, mas que la incursion en tierra ecuatoriana.
Me pareció muy sabio de Uribe pedir disculpas.

they identified the devil amongst them quickly and terminated him. Why can't we do that? Because there is no unity among Americans. We are to busy fighting eachother off.

Americans are a very brainwashed people.

They are thinking this from the Yankee point of view and are ignorant of the governments of Ecuador, Venezuela and the rest. It is rational in it's own right, but it is incorrect in the right context.

WOW! Politics that works, thats amazing. It's really encouraging to see the nations of south america standing together in defence of soverignty.

Sovereignty is only understood by leftists. Rightists believe it is irrelevant compared to their security against assumed bad guys.
