@wretcheddog Not at all, it has great sustain. Alex read my mind and rejected any chambering on this Les Paul -- mostly because the electronics, Floyd, and thinner profile take away enough wood. Chambering on the regular Axcess models turned me off, as they were already thinner. The Lifeson Axcess is still heavy -- around 9.5 lbs, and it sustains Nigel Tufnel style. :-)
@alphasxsignal It is a custom preset I created using the Orange OR-120 amp model. I am having serious difficulties with my music computer at the moment, but if I can get past that, and you could leave an email address, I will save the preset and email it to you.
As usual, you're the man! Aah, The days of you and me jammin Rush tunes in my mom's garage brings back alot of great memories. Remember when we learned the power windows album and were able to play it by the time it was realeased. The good ole days when advanced screenings of albums were played on the radio. You freaking Rock !!!
@RockAMole2011 YOU are the man! Yes, those were great times, flying chairs, sodas vibrating off amps, Pete Townshend antics, the eternal Crazy Train solo, etc.! You need to fire up that bass again and one of these days we'll pull off an "online jam" even if we can't stack 'em up in mom's garage again! I'm itching for the rebirth of "Flight Of The Brundlehime!"
@JoviBlink Thanks to you and others for the nice comments. There are definitely moments in that solo where a deep breath is in order. I have learned in recent years the importance of relaxing during fast playing and trusting the finger muscles to do what they're supposed to. But the key to this solo is to dial in to the odd timing of the bass and drums behind it and feel those grooves as you play through it. The solo sounds very loose and free-form but it is anything but that! Thanks again.
Great job playing a great song! The tone is excellent too. I've been trying to learn this album and this solo has been a challenge for me. You'd be doing a lot of Rush fans a big favor posting a solo lesson. Either way, nice playing.
I hate gibson because they are greedy bastards. This guitar you're holding should be sold for no more than 2500 dollars. and how much did it cost you?
@paltieri11 AL is much more versatile than either, and lighter (but still weighty). My LP Standard is a whopping 10.5 lbs, the AL LP is 8.5 lbs. But I still love the standard when I'm in a darker, fixed bridge kind of mood. The neck on the AL is wider and thinner than the 50s style neck on my Standard. I like both necks for different reasons.
@BigDancin She's been at Gibson Europe for the past 3 weeks. It's out on the Fedex truck for delivery this morning, but nobody's home. Tomorrow then...
Yours looks beautiful and sounds awesome. Quite possibly something to do with your fingers as well!
hey bro, does it lose sustain due to the floyd rose??

Impressive playing. Now you just need to locate some guys with mad bass and drum skills to complement your playing, and you have a band.

I also have the Amplitube III with StompIO unit. What setting are you using for
the RUSH sound. It sounds great.

Thinking of getting a LP....wonderig if to go with this one or the Standard...or 59 R.....although the 59 is way more expensive

Compared to the LP Standard and Custom....anyone any idea?.....and great playing!....saw them twice this year.

Loving my AL 316 in the Brown Burst. Probably going to stick a tremel-no in though set to dive only for unison bends and better tone.
