I agree that the camera does not have a very sharp image even though it is 1080p. The reason is the sensor is not very big and the rate at which the video is recorded is very low bit-rate. Low bitrates means loss of picture detail.

i had the toshiba camileo s20 and i could say ..... that camara has tha worse resolution than I've seen please dont buy that camara i have a panasonic digital camara 12.00mp and that camara is better

@pelvlog The video review of the S10 was shot using a Toshiba P30 digital video camera. The recording quality is similar to the S10 but the difference is in the lens setup. The P30 has a better lens setup (autofocus, optical zoom, etc).

@VWRChasin If you need stealth and portability then go for the S10. If you want a better handling camera with optical zoom then the p30. Note, both don't handle low light situations well.

@KKOPPI That's so sad. I hope you didn't have too many recordings on the camera. It is always so upsetting to lose these things. I lost (got stolen) 35mm film camera with 10 rolls of exposed vacation shots 20 years ago and it hurt real bad. I wouldn't have minded if they took the camera and left the film but they are thieves without brains. Cheer up!

Hi Richard,

I never figured out how or if it was possible to record with the LCD closed. Not sure why you want to close the LCD as it is the viewfinder so you wouldn't know how your subject being recorded is framed (or if it is out of frame).

If the reason for closing the LCD is because it is sometimes too bright then try just throwing a cloth over it. A small micro-fibre cloth would do well to lessen the brightness and can be used as a nice cleaning cloth. :)

@Royalllllll Digital Video doesn't really pause because it is really instant on and instant off. The recording process will create new files everytime you start and stop the recording process. Ths creates 'clips' of video that you can then use (edit) and string together to make your long video.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago second hand. And it was great. But the more i use it the more loose the screen becomes. It has gotten to the point where if you turn the camera upside down the screen flips its self out. and if i have it open the screen falls down. Is there no way to tighten it?

hi ive got a problem ive bought this camera today i put it in the charge for like 5 hours and its just been solid orange around the record button. everytime i take the charger out if i try to open it it wont turn on, what should i do, is it faulty.

@UbuntuHelpGuy Still pictures are not that good. Stick to you digital camera even a pretty cheap one of 4-6 megapixels will be better because it has dedicated lens and electronics for the photo taking. Some camera phones are even better than ths S10 pictures.

Screen does not flip over and fold flat. I believe that is what youare asking. If it did fold flat the screen would be in Portrait orientation versus Landscape. Landscape is how we view videos.

The video was recorded using the P30 Camileo and that is the big brother to this. I have posted a review of the P30 as well and that was recorded using the S10.

So the record time for this is round 2 hours??? and on hd is like less then 2 hours right??

You'll get less than 2 hours of recording in the QVGA resolution. I would suspect even less recording time at the higher resolutions because the camera electronics has to work harder to record and compress the HD video.

Strange, my first comment doesn'tseem to have been posten, anyway, I asked if you knew how much video you can get out of a 8 gb memory card in 1080p, if you happen to know? Or any memory size really, so I can guess how much 8 will be able to do.. :)

8GB will give you a fair amount of footage. For every 5 mins of recorded video you'll need approximately 400MB of storage.

You know I don't have that info on hand. I can try to turn it on with a full charge and leave it recording to see how long that goes but I may not be able to accomplish that because the review samples need to go back tomorrow morning.

The battery lasted 1hr and 56mins. Here's what I did. Full Charge. Set recording mode to QVGA. Sit the camera down pointing out the window and hit record. I just let it record until the battery went flat. The resulting video recording would be the runtime length.
