"Van Helsking" was silly but watchable, but Dracula here is awesome, second best after Gary Oldman's performance. And with a mustache, and some red'n'gold outfit he would look like the real thing, Vlad "Son of the Dragon" Tepes.
Max Shreck played count Orlock, different character, only loosely based on Dracula.Lugosi,Lee, and Palance were hollywood draculas, minimal resemblance to Stocker's villain, not to mention the real guy. Oldman was absolutely the best, ideal crossover between the book character and historical figure, in both looks and acting. The guy in "van Helsing" gives a proper "villain vibe" he is an inhuman and powerful monster, the way legendary vamps were, not campy and ridiculous, or gay and sparkling.
