LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD YA CLOWNS.YE DON'T LIKE INCOMERS;YE DON'T LIKE THE ENGLISH;YE DON'T LIKE CHANGE ;YE ONLY FAVOUR YER OWN THATS WHY YE HUV 12 FINGERS
My heart vibrates with this song. My mother's family is Gilmore (Morrison), from Lewis. Of course they came to America sometime around the '45. Heartbreakingly beautiful. Someday I'll go there and I will know I am home...
Well I do live in the highlands, and Karen is my cousin (although my second cousin). I am British by passport, Scottish by nationality, and a highlander by the grace of god. Thank god for that too. My beautiful highlands is dying, due to the massive influx of people not from here. Its not their fault, just natural progression I suppose, but its killing my culture. As one old man said to me about ten years ago.. "indeed, we are the last of the free."
Thank you for uploading this song. I'm Scottish, I was born & bred in the Isle of Lewis. At times I our language 7 culture for granted, then you hear a song like this and it just gets you 'right in the heart'
Oh my land, youre always in my thoughts Fresh, fragrant Uist, home of heroes Where the noble people live Herditary territory of Clanranald. Land of bent grass, land of barley Land fertile in every way Where the young lads Sing songs and drink ale They come to us, wily and cunning To seduce us from our homeland They sing the praises of Manitoba A cold country without coal, without peat.
O mo dhùthaich, 's tu th'air m'aire, Uibhist chùbhraidh, ùr nan gallan, Far am faicte na daoin' uaisle 'S far bu dual do Mhac 'ic Ailein. Tìr a' mhurain, tìr an eòrna, Tìr sam pailt a h-uile seòrsa Far am bi na gillean òga Gabhail òrans gòl an leanna. Thig iad thugainn carach, seòlta Gus ar mealladh far ar n-eòlais. Molaidh iad dhuinn Manitoba, Dùthaich fhuar gun ghual, gun mhòine.
I'm not from Ireland or Scotland, but the scapeland of my country (Brasil) can also be astonishing. What I like in Capercaillie's music is the sense of freedom and love.
My grandmother who was born in Ireland has told me me about it so much. Its really the place I want to see most before I die. I love my Grandmother and am very proud to be of Irish Heritage. :)
It is Gaelic. It's the last line of the song, where the singer laments that if only they had the money for the ticket, a change of clothes and shoes; it would be to Uist they would be heading.
im from uist and this is a song close to my heart....

Mura h-eil rud sam bith math agad ri ràdh! tha a nas fheàrr a'fuireach sàmhach.
Gu fhortanach...."Cha shluagh duine 'na aonar".
A nis airson an t-oran tha ciall na facail Gàidhlig cudromach, tha fhios gu bheil, agus seo am measg na feadhainn is drùidhteach buineas dhuinne.

Closing the eyes is how I always listened to music, but in this post the video is amazingly professional. Haven't seen better in this genre on YT.

The music of the Scottish/Irish Celts was both beautiful and awe inspiring. We need more of such videos on YouTube.

I think the last one is most beautiful verse of the song, shame they didn't include it in this version.
