  • I'm trading my nord lead 2x for one of these and the rest will go towards my Kronos

  • @ 1 min and 30 sec those sounds was avesome :D

  • GREAT !!!

  • what algorithm and pcm was used on the head and the rim on the chopstick part? trying to replicate it but am not really successful. :)

  • Nice drumming, especially with the chopsticks XD

  • Damn there goes my budget... I gotta have one of these!

  • Can any of these patches actually be used to accompnay music? Oh sure, they all sound great for wowing people during a drum solo but I haven't heard a single patch, other than snare, that could actually be used in a band with other musicians the way a drummer/percussionist normally does.

  • You must work the other way around, instead of having percussion built around other instruments, the other instruments need to build around the wave drum.

And then it becomes a fantastic instrument.

  • @ arquende and tablameister :Or you could... You know... Hit the drum in rhythm to the beat of the song...

  • Interesting thought, indeed....So as a beat in a song occurs, you would then strike the wavedrum to that beat?

  • Fucking incredible... Here I though I was the only one who understood.

  • Yes, but the problem is that very few of the sounds are actually usable to make music. Its a very sophisticated instrument - it even picked up when I pushed my palm along the drum head as I would on a bayan.

So don't misunderstand - the instrument has potential but I don't think the current sounds reflect its true capabilities.

  • how usable the wavedrum is depends on the genre of music you're playing. There is never a sound that can't be used to create music, but some sounds are harder to work with, and therefore far more interesting to use.

  • I wish I could convince myself that your just trolling... Somehow I know that this is truly your legitimate uneducated opinion... It makes me very sad inside.

  • I have no idea what your comment means. While I was in the music store I tried the HPD10. Fantastic! Very usable sounds, easy to edit sounds, I bought one and love it!

  • watch some danny carey videos, he uses his pretty well, not over the top use, but hear and there for subtle effect.

  • can you change the tunes and scales?

  • SUPER - - -

  • do your research....this is going for $599 at Musician's Friend. No Midi but WHO CARES???...it's a dynamic instrument, just like any drum.

  • Roland Handsonic sends midi response. KORG could have used quick GE programs to control midi and be way ahead of the curve. KARMA has impowered midi with a whole new life.

  • the midi standard has not changed at all by any stretch with KARMA, it did not make some huge change to midi, just arpeggiators.

  • That is the problem with so many people and KARMA. They do not understand it. It is way beyond and above arpeggiation. It controls not only notes and their sequence but every other parameter of the synth as well. It creates sounds never before heard. KARMA can change sounds over time, merging one creation into the next without changing the actual program or preset. This is not a put down but I almost feel sorry for musicians who do not understand or use KARMA manipulation techniques.

  • but it didn't change the midi standard at all so you're full of shit, karma is great, but i understand exactly what it is, a fancy arpeggiator, not a change to midi. and this thing has no precognition of MIDI inside it so karma would have been absolutely useless anyway.

  • You are the only one talking about changing the midi standard and I originally was not talking about sending midi notes. It does not require midi to produce short KARMA programs within the unit itself. I did say that KARMA has impowered midi with a whole new life and it has. Your mistaken self judgement about your intellect has left you with only enough thought power to say things like "you're full of shit." Perhaps you should take a look at Kay's patent before blurting out any more ignorance.

  • okay firstly, you straight out said "KARMA has revolutionised Midi" it still did nothing to MIDI itself, you worded it incorrectly, i make no apologies. and secondly, karma is still useless in the wavedrum, because it doesn't have it

  • That is the same as me saying your brain is useless in your head, because you don't have one.

  • karma cannot be used on a device that doesn't use the midi standard, so in a way yes, that is an apt analogy. But it's simply one that reinforces my point.

  • its impossible to give thing midi and have it respo0nd with its interna, sounds to midi because so much of the sound is the organic interaction between the head and piezo mics

  • The old one was about 3K, this one is 400 UKP and about $600 in the US supposedly.

  • Finally u used chop stick and the music like japanese classic style.

  • i need to hear one without the pad noise....

  • i think this new one is more around $600?

  • 600 is more like it, I hope I was mistaken about the $3k

  • Very cool! Great demo!

  • no MIDI???? WTF?

  • an instant deal-breaker, too bad, I was looking forward to playing one of these, oh well... :(

  • MIDI's too limiting. It's fine for FX hits and one shots, but try doing realistic rolls, flutters and flams on a MIDI'ed snare triggering a digital drum module. Ugh.....

  • MIDI is very limiting. But USB to facilitate a PC based editor would have been useful.

  • that sounds amazing! has a really nice 'natural' sound. i mean the effects are synth sure. but the quality sounds just... beyond what i was expecting :D

  • amazing sound, will be next gen of elect perc
