Basically the way i see it is that while certain aspects have to remain the same or else it won't be sailor moon, the manga, anime, live action and musicals all present their own takes on the story, like alternate realities of the same characters' lives. the anime does some things better than the live action series. the live action series does some things better than the musicals etc. they are all Sailor moon, like it all guys and gals
