Yeah when Melina started wrestling Melina and Shelly were the only girls in the EWF. A new girl came into the EWF who went under the ring name of Ebony Princess and Melina had the best EWF matches she had ever had and decided if she wanted to become a better wrestler she would have to go to another Fed. She went to UPW after EWF, EWF was a great Fed and school but Shelly wasnt improving thus keeping Melina down.
Oh well, not surprised. Shelly sucked hard back then, she still sucks in the ring today LOL. Wondered why TNA even bothered to keep her around after the supposedly one-time BFG appearance last year.

I actually think she has become a better wrestler during her time in WWE, then she has in the EWF/indies. Yes, she got to bust out more dynamic moves back then, and she still has a huge moveset today, but I think she's refined her ability to put on consistently great matches since early last year.
Well what alot of people dont understand is that Melina as a heel and Melina as a face will be 2 different wrestlers. As a heel, she will only be allowed to do certain moves and as a face she will do different moves and also take harder bumps.
Also look at who she is wrestling, when wrestling a Candice or Ashley wrestler, Melina has to tone down what she does but when she wrestles a Mickie or Beth like a One Night Stand, Melina can do alot more. Too bad she was only a face for about 2 weeks before she got injured. Melina is one of the hardest working Divas and also the most dedicated. Last year she wrestled 104 matches,she was the busiest Divas and beat alot of guys at number of matches. Candice came in second with 54 matches.
To be honest, the ONS match was decent, but could've been much better, especially when they were given unusually generous time to work for a women's match, at close to 10 minutes. Melina did well in it and sold her arse off for everything, but I honestly think Beth Phoenix is quite overrated as a worker. The pacing of the match really suffered thanks to Beth's sluggish movements.
Melina's biggest strengths as a worker are her vast moveset, her natural aggression, and her pretty good selling.
I think it was a great match considering who theyre use to wrestling against. I know what you mean about Beth, she ran out of moves and repeated a couple but as a heel she doesnt really have to have a large move set. Katie did it well.
I'm a huge fan of Melina, and also you are right about toning down moves when wrestling what I like to call barbie divas. If you like to see it a match of Cherry AKA Kara Slice in the indies is posted on youtube.her character and her wrestling ability made WWE tone her down severely because most of the divas she wrestled were barbie divas.
That sunset flip at 1:14 was picture perfect and did you see the way Melina snapped off that headscissor takedown at 2:27! Gorgeous!
Melina is AWESOME, it is a shame WWE keep watering down her ability, so she doesn't look WAY better than all the competition.
As good as this video as, from the stories I have read on the net, Melina has even more ability than this video shows. I can't wait to see more of Kyra.
Melina is one of the most talented female wrestlers' that the WWE has. She has paid her dues and not through some cheesy ass competition.
