It's actually a compliment. You're watching this sub-par movie and all of a sudden you hear 10-20 seconds of an amazing song and think, omg, I need to find out what this is.

Seriously, I had never heard it before that point and don't think I would have heard it otherwise. I'm guessing this song must be pretty old to have been on that movie, so yeah, it's really our only exposure. And it's surprising to find such a gem in such a crap movie. No need to take offense :)
