  • Does the brutal legend guy remind anyone else of Jack Black? Straight out of school of rock.

  • @777Opus ... you know he was voiced by him, right?

  • 7 minutes & 38 seconds well spent.

  • Heres a quick contrast

I played Modern Warfare 3 ONCE the day i bought it and NEVER touched it again.

I still play psychonauts to date even though i got it when I was a little boy.

    See the difference?

  • psychonauts!!!!!!

  • Kickstarter World Champion 2012

  • Amazing that millions of people will waste money on a rehash copy-paste military FPS every year, but creative, witty and funny games like Tim Schafer's creations fly under the radar.

That man deserves Activision's ridiculous pile of money, not Bobby "Milk it til it dies" Kotick.

  • The 360 shouldve already done back words compatible for older xbox 1 games.

  • Back in the days we had masterpieces like Maniac Mansion, Zack Mckraken, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and Psychonauts.

Nowadays the game industry takes itself too seriously. We need more people like Tim Schafer...sacré bleu

  • is psychonauts still on the xbox originals? i cant find it

  • @pokemonizkooolio No they took it off a couple mounths before the new dashboard luanched

  • @MyMinecraftIsbetter one word: RETARDS.

  • Thumbs up if you want Brutal Legend 2

  • They should make an All Your History on Warren Spector

  • Brutal legend would have had a more brutal than brutal difficulty, beat it on hard first try ... felt it was way too easy but still a solid game

  • Ugh... I'm still mad Brutal Legend didn't come to the PC.

I SOOOOOOOOO wanna play that game!

  • valve should hire tim. psychonauts was one of the best games ever

  • @toSTONEiGO no tim needs his own creative freedom. valve do there own thing

  • @JohnnyKvatch i made that comment before the recent hubbub of him getting imbursed by notch. at that point in time it seemed tim would never make a high budget game, and id rather his ideas get into a valve game than him a decent game like costume quest every several years. now that hes getting 13 mil, yeah he should have creative freedom.

  • 6:31 "It is a hack-and-slash title."

Lies! Why did it have to turn into an RTS? ;(

  • Tim Schafer is more the Joss Whedon of games. Really cool and creative, yet sadly not as successful as he should be.

  • I don't even need a Psychonauts sequel, although that would be the Most Excellent thing in the fucking universe. What I NEED are some more wonderful Double Fine games! Keep on rocking, Tim, you're a badass. I hope people realize your genius already. :I

  • I bought psychonauts fives times.once to have it, again for steam, three more times to give to people who would appreciate it

  • I love Brutal legend, it is one of my favorite game ever.. I wish they make more of it

  • MORE CREATIVITY IN MY VIDEOGAMES NOW!!!

    there, it is alive.

  • When he said Brutal Legend I was like I REMEMBER THAT GAME!

  • God I loved phyconauts, never manage to spell it properly though...

  • Tim schafer = god of the most underrated titles

  • MAKE THE SECOND FUCKING PHYCONAUTS, IT WILL SELL.

  • at least brutal legend sold 3 copies more than psychonauts

  • Psychonauts 2 has to be made thumbs up if you agree!

  • To bad Star Wars ruined Lucas Arts.

  • I wish Brutal Legend did better than it did. It is an awesome game.

Sadly, it seems that Tim Schafer is cursed to making awesome games with poor to medium sales. :(

  • They missed the part about Vivendi first publishing Brutal Legend, which followed by Vivendi getting bought by Activision and then Activision canceling Brutal Legend. I'd love to see a longer, or more specifically, a more in depth version of this series, but I can understand if they want to keep these short. For anyone that wants more depth, Game Informer did a great vid about the history of Volition.

  • Psychonauts is awesome, anyone who hasn't played it should, you can buy a copy on Good Old Games for very cheap.

  • "BRUTAL LEGEEEEEEEEND, there is it dead" wtf?

  • @luckyprince164 no, in the game he shouted decapitation

  • we want an old fashion adventure

  • Tim schafer is a pirate... win

but I had to facepalm when I found out he had practically done the equivalent of me scoring a job interview at VALVe before HL2 came out and saying how much I loved the leaked version I found on the internet...

  • @4fromK So your saying you work at VALVe?

  • @darththork99 no, was saying working at VALVe would be my dream job... (its an analogy!)

  • @4fromK So you had a job interview their?

  • @darththork99 dude, I think you need to figure out what an analogy is... not everything is literal, most people figure this out at a fairly early stage of development. Not to harsh on you or anything, lol. Try doing something more positive than trying to call other people out on youtube; peace out dude

  • i have played through psychonauts close to 100 times atleast

  • i loved psychonauts

  • i love that grim fandango's GrimE engine was a newer version of Jedi Knight's Sith engine

  • Need to see what lies beneath?Tired of running endlessly into the same useless information?intuition, healing powers, it is all part of human nature. It is time to take the blindfold off, THE-HIDDEN-SPIRITdotCOM

  • 3:55 DOUBLEEEE FFFFIIIIIIIIIINNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Comment removed

  • I loved Brutal Legend, but I preferred psychonauts.

  • Tim Schafer is the Tim Burton of gaming

  • @webaward I don't particularly like Tim Burton, he's a gifted visual artist but his movies are all style and no substance. (A goth Michael Bay)

But any compliment for Tim Schafer is well intentioned, and Schafer is indeed a genius.

  • @webaward Nah, Tim Schafer has real imagination, and originality. Tim Burton has neither of those things.

  • @webaward Except Burton movies make alot of money.

  • @webaward tim burton sucks, tim schafer is a god if I ever saw one

  • @webaward Please don't compare anyone to Tim Burton unless they are pretentious douche bags who just want to make goofy goth things for Disney with Johnny Depp and ruin classics like Planet of The Apes and Batman.

  • @webaward Except he is STILL making wonderful and ingenious art and entertainment!

  • @LordEmilous Double Fine just was'nt known to many gamers... I saw an ad in an archie comic. That was it. I thought it would be cool to try but could never find it, plus other games that i wanted came out. But my god I bought Brutal Legend the moment it was released. SO FUCKING GOOD!!! GO CREATIVITY! FUCK COD!

  • WTF are all the gamers stupid or smth, PSYCHONAUTS IS AMAZING!!! All these trippy, creative, new games OWN every other game!

I'm so pissed that I can't find a decent game to play anymore, everything is "walk and shoot / awesome graphic and no gameplay"

  • Chuck Norris wishes he was Tim Schafer

  • TIM is a Fucking legend

  • grim fandango was one of the best games ever made...people just don't know a good game when they see it =/

  • Time traveling toilets? Who knew.

  • the psychonauts is one the best games ever... I'm very sad about the poor sales :( it would be fantastic to play psychonauts 2 :))

  • @RoyalScopez They WANT to make it. So we can always hope...

  • @Jinjonator1 I would be glad about it... psychonauts is so unique and original :))

  • @RoyalScopez He wants to make it.

  • @RoyalScopez Maybe you'll go inside Cruller's mind.

  • @RoyalScopez It doesn't need a sequel. If it did it would have the problem of being compared to the first, and that would be a problem.

  • @RoyalScopez :( I agree

  • @RoyalScopez Thank Notch, Psychonauts 2 is possible now

  • my bad ,brutal legend

  • i love brutal legond

  • I want more adventure games from Schafer!

  • I want more point and click adventure games from Schafer, fuck the little kiddies that don't know what a good game is.

  • watch online at cinemashow,info #OMG

  • watch online at cinemashow,info #OMG

  • Grim Fandango, fuck yes.

  • Psychonauts can kick ass any day

  • Too bad Brutal Legend sucked and sold 2 copies.

  • @dagrimmreepa shut up wii user it sold alot of copies not shit loads of copies but alot

  • @dagrimmreepa you all butthurt because its not on the wii?

  • Pstchonauts 2 please?

  • @TheImaginableUndead

How about something original instead of a sequel? Tim Shafer is better than to dwell in the games he already completed. To try and take on something new is a risk well worth the possible rewards.

  • I would have to disagree with you on that.

  • I realize BL started out as an RTS, but if they had just put that time into making more content for the OTHER parts of the game, it would have been a much bigger success (and much more fun as well).

  • brutal legend is the best

  • phyconauts is WAY too underated we NEED phyconauts 2

  • @Cornychicken101 no, we need more original titles like psychonauts and grim fandango. And besides, who the hell is going to publish a game that nearly bankrupted two companies!?

  • @Cornychicken101 yeah companies are bussiness minded....no matter how much they say they are looking for new original ideas, they are afraid that they might lose money........ also its not underated.....prefer ultra realistic uber violent sagas than a new game made by an oddball geek with cartoon graphics

  • @topgear93

I prefer games that try to be original and innovative, not formulaic fps' and stuff like that. And I hope you're talking about something like old Ghost Recon and not COD when you say "realistic". Anyways I miss the comedy and gameplay of old LucasArts adventure games and Psychonauts and thoughtful and well written stories like The Longest Journey series. Majority of game stories today are so formulaic and uninteresting. There are definitely some good stories and ideas today though.

  • @MODernChris yeah but companies but know that.........also coming up with a pitch for innovative games are very difficult especially when it involves very innovative gameplay..........its hard for the investor and company director to get what you are thinking of..........i should know........im studying game design

  • @topgear93

Oh I definitely realize how hard it is to actually come up with an innovative idea in the first place. Pitching it to a publisher is just as tough. It just sucks how some of the more original and creative titles like Psychonauts never do good because of bad publishing. Brutal Legend had a cool idea and actually had good publishing, but me and many other people didn't like the RTS parts.

  • @MODernChris just saying that it had metal in it is already good publishing.......but the general public are ppl who judge without trying.........so they associate cartoons to child games and it definitely isn't underated....go around they web you'll find the game getting great reviews.....just that it is not challenging, a bit short for an adventure game, and little replay value.....i nvr really got to try psychonauts though, no console at the time and me pc sucks

  • @topgear93

And anyways I was responding to the second part of your comment where you said you prefer realistic and violent sagas and Pyschonauts was underrated. I totally agree with you on the first part. And it really is about time we had a story like from the longest journey series. I can enjoy space opera stories like Mass Effect and Halo because of the heroism factor, but we need something different.

  • smash hit this. cleverly titled this PICK SOMETHING NEW

  • Psychonauts is really under apreciated.

  • as soon as the RTS hits in Brutal Legends, i quited the game right away.

  • talks about EA (the company it self), and bethesda (fallout 3, elder scroll) for next videos would be interesting.

  • I had so much respect for Tim until a fucked up experience on his forums made me loose all of it and see what an arrogant prick he is as a human being. All I did was give some constructive criticism on Brutal Legend, criticism that was well deserved and my account was IP banned with all my posts deleted.

  • @S0undBite ..how would you know that it was Schafer that did it?

  • @TheRealJoni well, i dont know if it was hims specifically, it could have been the mod on the forum, but who hired the mod? who set the rules?

  • @S0undBite Maybe it was some fanboy moderator that couldn't take the least bit of criticism towards Tim's suposed creation?

    Meh. I can't really say since I don't know.

  • @TheRealJoni it could have been. The way I see it is if the president makes a bad decision because of his advisers its still his fault because he hired them

  • PSYCHONAUTS IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just found this webseries, it's great! Brutal Legend sold over 1.1 million copies. I love Metal and Jack Black, but not RTS. I never knew about Psychonauts and Grim Fandango up until a few months ago, I can't wait to have free time and play them!

  • @jaykhunter Grim Fandango is a masterpiece , trust me . I still play it .

  • @TheEMPEROR800 Is it fine to download it of XBLA or are there bugs; better to get it on the PC?

  • @jaykhunter Well the PC version rocks , you can download it anywere . there are bugs only if you have vista or windows 7 but you can fix that by getting the patch .

  • is there All your history : EA ???

  • Half-life is still awsome ^__^

  • a great ledgend of a person

  • I wish they would re-release grim fandango on steam or even xbox live market place or some other outlet. Never played it and would love to actually get my hands on it, especially after looking at how much it goes for on Amazon (over $130!!!).

  • @marco12377 download it !?

  • 1:27 that's monkey island not pirates and ghosts!lLOL!

  • @st4bilon

He said Schafer was making a game ABOUT pirates and ghosts,He never said that was the title ,10 seconds later he mentions the real title,

    Monkey Island

  • Haha, ballblaster vs ballblazer

  • ball blaster...

hey mabe we could play if you own it?

  • nah i dont but i know who he is i have subscribed to him

  • I hope Brutal Legend sells.

  • I doubt it,modern gamers don't really care for titles not made by big name companies. But I'm certain it'll become a cult classic.

  • i didnt

but i played and love it

  • @Imdrawingrightnow.... it didnt :(

  • @Imdrawingrightnow It did

  • @Imdrawingrightnow it is i got so it has to be

  • Psychonauts was one of the best games of the ps2/xobx/gc era if you ask me, shame it didn't sell so well.

  • Xbox version was always the best..

too bad I now only have it for the pc

  • @504zap i absolutely love psychonauts i still have it

  • @504zap I think it didn't sell well because gamers who think a game has to have you shooting someone every 5 seconds thought it looked childish, and it didn't appeal to children (and their mothers (like games like mario and sonic have)) because it had dark humour and was considered too dark for children, so it didn't have a target audience.

  • Grim Fandango is the greatest video game ever made

  • amen to that

  • lol :D

  • love Grim Fandango

  • i love burtal legend even for its few faults but i love that game anything with ozzy in it ill buy

  • tim you crazy basterd. i love it!

  • dude. you don't know what your missing if you haven't played them before. his games are very creative, witty, with a good sense of humor.

Psychonauts is still my favorite last gen console game.

  • They forgot to mention the trouble Brutal Legend had with Activision.

  • day of the tentacle FTW!

  • I will now teach you of the "French kissing"

  • The ballblaster/ ballblazer bit was awsome.

    Tim is a genius

  • machinma have got to do a 'All you history belong to us' on Rare

  • I laughed at the 'Ballblaster' pirate bit.

Must've been awkward in the interview.

  • PsychoNauts was amazing i still play it

  • yeah i do too its awesome

  • @MCTemPErENce I wished that they'd make a new Psychonauts
