Thanks , John--Carlos Santana's guitar work was a natural for me to emulate, with those rapid note clusters and piercing ostinatos on the high end. What fascinated me was the way he approached jazz, more succesfully than Jeff Beck, I think. Though not a jazz player, he found work around solutions on some more jacked chord progressions. I'm thinking of his solo on Chico Hamilton's "Jim Jeannie"; he could apply what he could do cogently over the bop-changes. That's what influenced my style.
