I have asked Him, why do the Jews claim Jesus was just a man? Why is the devil banished to earth? Why would You give us freewill if you don't want us to use it? Why would you tell us not to eat from the tree of knowledge and then let the devil trick us into doing it and then punish the rest of humanity for it? You destroyed sodom and gomorrah, but You can't destroy the devil? You talked directly to people in the bible, but now we have to hear everything second hand, why? The list goes on...
He didn't have the sense to ask God to forgive him. The prophet Nathan foiled his plans by confronting him about his sins, then King David had no choice but to admit his sins to God. Only after he is caught does he confess. If Nathan never confronted him, one can argue he would never have confessed. That doesn't sound very righteous to me. A truly righteous man would not need to be caught and shown his sins to repent. Gods presence would manifest confession and repentance. I ask, no answer...
Being righteous is confessing and repenting whether you are caught first or not. Being righteous is right, good, honest, straight. The bible says that God will make our "crooked" places straight. God wants us to repent as soon as we 'discover' the sin. He didn't say a certain time on the clock. David discovered and David repented. One cannot argue as to whether or not David would have confessed because we were not there and do not know his heart. Only God does..praise God.
Why would God give the kingdom of Israel to a wicked man?
Ezekiel 18:21 "But if the WICKED turn away from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
18:24 "But when the RIGHTEOUS turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth
iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, he shall die."
Spend time with the Lord and praise and worship Him. Ask your Father in Heaven all of the questions that you'd like and as you establish a stronger relationship with Him, He will answer you.

Did you know that God could have wiped man off of the Earth and chose not to? He is a righteous God and didn't want to kill us. Genesis 6:6 says that the Lord repented of making man. If the Lord repents, we can. Have you ever tried asking Him these questions? He will answer you if you hold your heart still and listen to Him.
if god has my back, then what about the backs of the people that bother me? god surely will tell them that he has their backs too! So how does that work? god is not just my personal god, I thought he was the god of everyone.
He is the God and defender of all those who believe in Him and love Him. If I hurt you as His child, He reprimands me as well. If we don't hurt anybody, we won't have to worry about God's chastisement. The bible says that He chastises those that He loves.
