Barbara: You are the most amazing human being musically I have ever seen in my life. I saw a link to you on Face-book and didn't even realize I been listening to you for hours and hours. To look at you, you physical beauty is substantial, but I have never encountered anything as beautiful as watching and listening to you play that B3. Your musical talent is so awesome, listening to you almost puts an artist to a decision. To either work harder at their craft or to just quit and drive a cab. WOW
Hi Barbara . . very nice . . jazz upright bass player here and also owner of the XB-3M and love to play keyboard instrumental improve along with "B3 type stuff" . . I am sure you know what I am talking about. . . Kudos . . Lanny Davis / SC/USA
This is "a part" of the piece "Hot Stuff". There's a CD on the Enja label of the same name. With Andy Sheppard t. sax, Mitch Watkins guitar, and Mark Mondesir drums
Her rig looks to me as a 59' or earlier due to the shape and finish of the sharp keys. The bass pedals are midi or something, definately not the Trek II sound. That's some playin there!
Thanks for your reply, hans1970! Last night I visited her website, where I saw the CD. The more I watch and listen to this piece, the more magical I find it to be...The moment when she starts that first phrase with her right hand is incredible! And the way the dynamics rise through the piece. What she says and how, is beyond words!
What a talented lady! The piece has a misty atmosphere...very european, of course; what's the name of it, hans1970?. And the guitar is not out of tune, it's just got some good dose of chorus, wich makes that ambiguous pitch.

the leslie is there, in fact if you look really well to her left, you'll see what appears to be the bass rotor spinning on slow. I think the leslie is a 142, which is the short cabinet
To hell with all of the sexist comments- here is a musician of the highest caliber. Get your minds out of the gutter and tune your ears and minds to what this musician is doing!

This chick can really play. She's right up there with all the great b-3 players who, I'm sure, would be as impressed as I was.

where is the leslie?

The Leslie must be there. The sound of the B3 wouldn't be like that without it. I think, is just not visible in this video?

The Leslie is a Hohner ORT 100. No Tube Leslie.

WOW !
No tubes ? ? ? ?
is that a custom made leslie?
organplaya 4 years ago
No tubes isn't that rare, many leslies were solidstate. Like my 860 en 760
