@benny334 a P J is a shortened acronym for Pararescue Jumper. they are highly trained airmen from the United States Air Force and their primary mission is to rescue Air Force pilots but may be assigned to other special operations units as their skill sets are needed.

I take exception to the history listed above.In 1919,following WW1,HoChiMinh wrote to Secy/State Robt.Lansing asking theUS to support VN freedom from France.He was ignored.After France's defeat by Nazis and Japan leading intoWW2,HCM and the VietMinh fought alongside allies against Japan.After WW2,VN declared its freedom from France and asked US support for a democratic gov't.in VN.Truman chose to support French colonial aggression instead,pushing VN to accept Soviet aid in its War for Freedom.

I was just asking how you think it happened that despite the fact that the CIA told the President(Johnson)that Vietnam was no threat to US interests he kept that secret and prosecuted the war which killed at least one person I knew. Jolly Greens were the life savers for many a downed airman. Quite a few grunts were glad to see them as well. Carried a lot of firepower when needed, at least the ones on the latter part of the war. Saw one come into Pleiku AB in late 71 or maybe early 72 shot full of holes, not a hand span without a hole, copilot only one shot. He took a round in the knee.
