To the big bea.....umm...I think you are confused about what dance is. In my personal opinion, that sequence was completely devoid of dance. Maybe there was one attitude, and I don't even think that was intentional. Futhermore, color guard/winter guard is the sport of the arts. It's is adavanced dance which carries equiptment....it is making music and our product is the faciliator of that....something far more emotionally deep than this.
Very good work with the spins, tosses and flips. I really liked it. I wouldn't utilize it, persay, on the drill floor even within Freestyle Exhibition, but I really do respect, and overall like what you did there.
Reason I say I wouldn't personally utilize it is because of your bearing. Military bearing went out the window with this one :P
@thebigbea If you want to do guard, then do it. If you know how to butch it up then it'll be fine, the activity could use some less feminine guys. The only reason his dancing looks gay or non-masculine (and I agree it does) is because he probably is gay and just playin around.
wow i liked the strap trick that was pretty cool..going to try to learn more trick witht hte rifle but havent really messed with it lately..was in guard in 06-08 i loved it and now im teaching soem of my friends trick with the rifle and technique

A real 1903 fully loaded, and with a 13 inch M1905 bayonet and "demilled," still doesn't weigh more than 10 pounds... the 13 inch bayonet only weighs 1 pound, "demilled" adds a few ounces, and the bullets only a few ounces too. the thing weighs 8 lb 11 oz completely clean. and I will be happy to believe you when you point out a drill team that uses more than 10" bayonets. the USAF Honor Guard still rules with their 15 pound M-1s!
demilled US Remmington "Springfield" M19 03-A3 weighs 8.69lbs but exhibition rifle ways a little more. Anyway, i can almost stick a tripple verticly with my M1 Garand replica, and Marines use same rifle as USAF HG. Also, last time i checked, it was the Marines at the Inauguration of Honorable Obama, not the AF

I gather from your comments there are a couple of other things you don't know, Marjorie. A drill team is much different than a color guard. This is NOT military drill. As someone who has been HEAVILY exposed to both, I can attest to the high level of difficulty presented to the performer in color guard.
Learn the difference then learn to appreciate your sister-sport. It will help you become a better driller.

That was awesome strap work, the only thing you could add in is more body movement. But overall kickin. :D

haha 13 pounds... thats a joke... A real 1903 fully loaded, and with a 13 inch M1905 bayonet and "demilled," still doesn't weigh more than 10 pounds... the 13 inch bayonet only weighs 1 pound, "demilled" adds a few ounces, and the bullets only a few ounces too. the thing weighs 8 lb 11 oz completely clean. and I will be happy to believe you when you point out a drill team that uses more than 10" bayonets. the USAF Honor Guard still rules with their 15 pound M-1s!

demilled US Remmington "Springfield" M19 03-A3 weighs 8.69lbs but exhibition rifle ways a little more. Anyway, i can almost stick a tripple verticly with my M1 Garand replica, and Marines use same rifle as USAF HG. Also, last time i checked, it was the Marines at the Inauguration of Honorable Obama, not the AF

And you probably didn't know, Marjorie, that Suzanne was not just any Miss Georgia, she was the Miss Georgia. She didn't twirl just a baton, that baton was on fire.

I gather from your comments there are a couple of other things you don't know, Marjorie. For example, you probably didn't know that Suzanne was the only contestant in Georgia pageant history to sweep every category except congeniality, and that is not something the women in my family aspire to anyway.

a drill team is not the same as a colorguard/winterguard
we dont stand still. its part of the show.

A drill team is much different than a color guard. This is NOT military drill. As someone who has been HEAVILY exposed to both, I can attest to the high level of difficulty presented to the performer in color guard.
Learn the difference then learn to appreciate your sister-sport. It will help you become a better driller.
