  • I've only ever owned the base models but I went to get the Z06 and found out with out really reasearching (cause thats what I mostly drive) the fucking top doesn't come off! of all the years tops have been coming off of the Vettes. It doesn't come in convertible either. I choose the 2010 Grand Sport. It gives you the ZO6/ZR1 body with all the features of the base models(targa top/convertible).

  • The Z06 has no reason to exist? WTF is this shit. How about when a customer considering the purchase of a new Corvette, wants the best model he CAN afford? The Z06 is different now because the options the ZR1 had are now available to it. Even in 2009 the Z06 was good C&D never fail to dissapoint me when it comes to American cars. What car is faster than a Base C6 Corvette for the brand new price? Answer: There isn't one. What car is faster than a ZR1 brand new? Answer: How well can you drive? :P

  • it's a sports car nobody is worried about the seats... plus my dad has a 00 C5 and that car is more comfortable than my Wrangler my friends Explorer and everything except my mom's Escalade

  • @barnetr2 they made the grand sport to be a z06 with less power cause people wanted more power in the convertible's so chevy compromised with the gs and it's removable hard top

  • yeah the zr1 is supercharged. supercharge a zo6 it will be faster then a zr1 because of the zo6s naturally high power engine which is why i perfer a zo6 cause if you added brakes and tires and a great supercharger on the zo6 it will probabley cost the same amount as a zr1 and be better car

  • @XSoulscarz53X not so the ls 7 does not like boost the ls9 is a much better engine plus the zr 1 is a lighter car with ir's extensive use of carbon fiber the uni body is alot lighter in it's self

    No Replacement For Displacement 7.0 liter is better take that supercharger out and the z06 will rape

    Add a supercharger to z06 it will rape... ZR1 is nothing but money waste... Z06 will do much more for the money...

  • @W4TCH4W You can say that for any car man, you can make any car "rape" another.... From the factory the ZR1 is the meanest Vette yet. There's more to the ZR1 than just engine too. Better brakes, adjustable suspension, and the body made almost completely of carbon fiber as well. Also you get a powertrain warranty as well.

  • @dankebuddha it depends what you are looking for... I like the way callaways look and you can do a lot with theirpackages, but callaway only has a 700 HP option whereas lingenfelter has one right around 1000 HP.

  • The best track setup is coil-overs and Hoosiers. Then it becomes basically a horsepower war, provided the drivers are equal. The Z06 and ZR1 will always have the weight and balance advantage over standard vettes.

    Most track day drivers DO NOT run the carbon ceramic rotors due to the fact that they are fragle and prone to chipping. There are plenty of aftermarket racing rotors and carbon ceramic pads that will hold up extremely well in track conditions.

    Bang for the bucks goes to the Z06!

  • @HelimanZ06 yeah I dont think you are right at all on that one. why else would every high end porsche, ferrari, lambo, you name it have CCM rotors on their top line vehicles? not to mention all the lemans cars and basically any other car in any other race series you want to name. just sayin ....

  • @nannygoat415 they use hose cause they have the financial backing to replace them after every race or 2 yes they stop better but dont last as long as some other rotors

  • totally a false statement. The Z06 ran 7:42 at the ring. The ZR1 did it in 7:22. The Z06 cant compete with the ZR. Sorry.

  • @13tomabram i understand that cause the zr1 is supercharged to a whopping 620, they said its got better stopping power in the brakes, and the suspension is more "forgiving". although they said the zo6 was the loser i think its in between.

  • The seats used on all Vettes are cruising seats. Very comfy for short and long distance. They are not the narrow and hard racing seats. Most Vette buyers are older and bigger, you cant simply put racing seats on Vettes, the old farts would never buy them.

  • If I were to get a 'Vette, I'd stick with the standard one. I don't need the speed (Aston Martin V8 Vantage is my favorite car :D). I'd rather have a more luxurious Corvette, which nowadays seems more like an oxymoron.

  • Sorry dude, but you're dead wrong about the carbon ceramic breaks. They provide phenominal friciton that doesn't fade under intense heat. I've seen a Top Gear episode where a Mercedes SLR McLaren's brakes catch on FIRE and the car still stops on a dime. There's a reason that F1 uses this technology.

  • I thought the Z51 was gonna be the weakest of the bunch since its the base model. But since it doesn't have many drawbacks save for not being mind melting fast like the ZR1 I just might buy it. I saw one for under $30K.

  • All of those cars have magnetic shocks! If carbon Ceramic Brakes are for marketing purposes only we better tell LeMans racers they should upgrade to normal steel rotors and AutoZone pads! Hell since were on that subject maybe we should go back to drum brakes while were at it. With your mentality maybe a supercharger is just for decrative use and robs horsepower. I know lets just strip it down to just 4 wheels and hook a horse up to pull it around. Corvettess keep huffing exhaust fumes o.k.?

  • Concernig ceramic breaks: they are less effective then many may suppose. It has more to do with marketing than with real, better efficenty.

    Being the beast it is,the z06 is also very comfortable, even tought, on this side, the zr1 wins thanks to the magnetic suspensions.

    Z06 seems still seems to me the best supercar in circulation (and i'm nont talking pricefor money). 2nd best: surelly the zr1:bravi americani!

  • Can't agree with your ranking. The Z06 has worst tires (run flat) in comparison of the zr1. Appart from that, z06 is a better car on the trak. Infact, it has a better weight distribution than the zr1, and it is also lighter.
