Just randomly happened to stumble upon this the other night while my girlfriend and I were exploring Beacon Hill late at night. Not a road for high heels.
been to Boston last week for 4 days, had a good look around, Pres Kennedy Birthplace, John Adams birthplace, Bunker hill, State House and Fanuil hall, also of course Acorn Street, apparently as I have been told, the cobblestones come from England as ballast on Ships which was dumped in Boston to make room fro Timber it was picking up from Boston which was then used a ballast.
so when you walk on these cobblestones you are walking on England literally.
Boston reminds me a lot of England, we have lots of Terraced houses in the UK, some still retain cobbled streets and not tarmacked (black topped)over, If I was to live in the US I would consider Boston or Philly.
It should remind you of England. We came from England and when "Old Boston was built" it was still under British rule. In fact, My ansestors came from England when the country was still under British rule. In boston they keep a lot of the old traditions and history alive. You could walk shops and pubs and they look like somewhere in England.
Where are all the cobbles gone? I can't think of one cobbled street in Limerick!

Thanks! This takes me back to my days living on Beacon Hill. I'd walk out of my house in the morning and think, "I can't believe I'm living here..."
