  • History in Music can reach where talking closes doors, and it stays longer than the spoken word....It carries like a powerful wind into the hard heaetsd.

  • Love to you and justice and geez. xo. Thanks much for sharin'...will do the same. Heron smiled. :)

  • I hope and pray with all my being that one day there could be a TRUE leader one with the values, integrity and know how to just stop the exploitation of the people that still continues from with in it's corrupted self governments. Go back to the fundamental teachings without the pollution of "corporate greed" not the need to accumulate for some sorta financial gain but to be a leader for all yet for one common goal..

maybe one day I cant be the only one with a dream :(

  • After an oppression of people and culture hundreds of years in the making whats really left but a handful of elders with teachings suppressed, languages lost and ways forgotten a genocide that continues to this very day!!

  • What a sad truth & reality..I have always wondered who my mother would have been if it wasn't for the residential school she endured?!. For that matter how would we as a people would have adapted to change if we could have been allowed (so to speak) to just live the the only way we never knew, in connection with earth and it's communities. A way we and generations to numerous will never know.

  • I'd like to see a concert with John Trudell, Joy Harjo and Annie Humphry. Beutiful people make beutiful music together.

  • i love everything this beautifull woman does~a true warrior of the heart

  • une artiste que j'adore et voici mon titre favorie si l'ont peus le dire ainsi étant donner que cette chansson parle des 500 ans de génocide en amérique.

an artist that I love and here is my favorite if title NTA can say is give this particularly spoke with 500 years of genocide in America.

excuse me for using a translator

  • my favorite sond of annie

  • Columbus was a genocidal war criminal. who committed many crimes against humanity.

We should not honor anyone involved in war or in any manner connected with the deaths of people.

The only exception is personal self defense.

  • i love this song, all of the native nations should come together and take back our land.

  • Nice to see truth and no phony truths that make people feel better. It is what it is and we should ALL remember our past even if you are all European or other than First Nation.

  • Back around '99 Annie came to the Navajo Reservation in Arizona near Winslow and spent a few days touring schools in the area. Our school sponsored her visit there and she was well rec'd by the students and teachers...with these songs.

  • Five hundred years of genocide. Thank God we still have American/Canadian Indians. Every time a white see an Indian s/he is reminded that s/he is under the curse of blood guilt.

  • @MrIndianSupporter Fuck you. I dont feel guilty abt anything when a red indian. I didnt do any crime, I dont feel guilty. Fuck you! *middle finger*

  • @fickslaw I am sorry for your anger I pray you will heal.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics to the song? I would love to have them because they are awesome!

  • Excuses.... and useless at that! The atrocities do not disappear through comments like yours. What is still happening to the first nations in the States today is just as shameful as what happened in the past! Solidarity from Scotland

  • @MrPatriot1776 Our people were not fighting over land . Ownership of the earth is not even a concept we understand . Skirmishes maybe... but no widespread war at least in North America . Native Americans helped form our Republic. And have fought and died to preserve it to this day.America may not be perfect but it's the best thing going . We are all here now .. Unite now to Preserve and Protect it for future generations

  • Hundred years of genocide - how truthful. This is exactly what so called a culture of white man commited and still commits towards Native Americans.

  • I saw her when I lived in Mn on the rez, she is an inspiration an I respect her for always voicing the truths and for what she does for all of us. She sings truth, honor n blessings, Annie is amazing

  • Great lyrics. Interesting how the US always try to portray themselves as victims fighting for freedom from the big bad British. Yet in truth the USA is just as much a colonial empire as the British.

  • i love annie's music! she's so awsome!! also love her song "edge of america"..

  • This was beatifuly done! It's powerful and haunting. It makes me sick what a small bleep modern history books give to it. Forget black civil rights movents in the 60's, what about AIM?!?! Pieces like this further my resolve to reclaim my heritage! Don't stop! Thank you for sharing this!

  • The Native took them in and they slaughtered them. LOL...Too bad Native didn't kill them. Ignorance is death. Naivety is suicide.

  • This is a powerful song that tells it like it is. 500 yrs of Genocide indeed! Thanks for the share cvte2 and to seanredsky for the awesome video. Great job with the pics to the song. This deserves 10 stars.

    ~Melissa~

  • love this song. Annie is a very talented singer and songwriter. When I had my Native gift shop I used to order wild rice and note cards and other things from her and the Ojibway women marketed for their employment. Annie is such a nice and humble lady.

mvto Annie for hours of enjoyment of your gift of music! Wish she would make more cds. !

  • Come europeo, mi vergogno e chiedo scusa per come sono andate le cose, potevano andare diversamente, bastava solo avere più rispetto per quel popolo invece ha prevalso l'avidità. Buona vita a tutti

  • i think this is a very powerful video, not only because it shows the truth of what happened in pictures but is a visual for people with no understanding of what Native people have been through to get an idea. Anyways i loved it and keep up the good work!!!

    peace out!

  • i met annie about 4 years. she is a sweet woman. she sings another song about a native american woman...if anyone knows it please let me know. i can't remember the name.

  • I think the song you are looking for is called "Falling Down and Falling Apart". It's on her album entitled The Heron Smiled.

  • @seanredsky,This sounds like Cheryl Crow.

  • The crimes and insults against your people, to this day, make me sick. Thank you for posting this. It's so much more then just powerful.. There are no words.

    Peace with you all.

    Elle

  • Thank you. Representing Piscataway Conoy people here. (We are not imaginary).

  • were are the fucking human rights in america?

  • She did some songs at a NYLC leadership camp..she has a beautiful voice..great song about americas most harsh and hidden truth

  • finally the truth

  • Powerful and touching song. Thanks for posting this. Annie Humphrey is great. My maternal grandmother went to a mission school about 100 yrs ago. She never talked much about it, only bits and pieces. Watching this video, one can see why she pretended to be white most of her life.

  • This is increadible Bro...well done. The Whites in power at that time, figured they would either wipe out or breed out The Peoples... but now instead of Part-blood Proud Englishmen, they have Part-Blood Proud Metis and Natives... KEEP THE ANCESTORS' VISION ALIVE! Thanks again Nistow. All my Relations.

  • Real powerful song there....its very true...and sad that our people have gone through such shit...but as our prophecies have been told..we will rise above it all and be a powerful strong nation once again....peace

    Jen

  • Hey Sean. Your video really hit home. Its so sad to see our people like that. My dad, aunts and uncles were in residential schools. Ive heard some of the stories. It pains me to see the pictures.

Great Job on the video! Thank you for sharing.

    -Kat;)
