i feel left out at school i get picked on sometime i skate i ride my bike dirt bike but no matter what i can do ppl think the same of me but wen im picked on i ignore them and wen i get home i play wow because im really good at it but in that world i can escape reality and ppl think of me different way they think im cool and im not to say addicted but kind of a hobby i race dirtbikes skate local sponsors but ppl still think im a loser so wow in a sense kind of help me with my selfastime.

Nice video, very good points. The real problem with WoW is it's boring. I played it for a while and while there's always stuff you can do in the game I can't stand a game that has no absolute end. A point that you reach, at which there is nothing else to do. If a game has no end, it loses some of the purpose of playing it. Yes, video games are made for entertainment and unending entertainment can be looked at as a good thing, but why start something that you can't possibly finish?
Video game addicition is a real problem, however the problem is not in the video games, but in the people who choose to play them for long periods of time.. the types of isolated, shut-in recluses who don't have much else going for them in life, it's very easy for a person like that to get addicted to a virtual world where they're somebody. Ultimately in order to play WoW without social consequences, you have to have good time management skills i.e. don't play more than an hour or so at a time.
okay, see...i play WoW...and youre level 14! you dont even know the game yet...lol...the town i live in has absolutely NoThInG to do, so me and my friends play WoW...aside from the "Real" world sucking, did you ever think maybe the game is just fun? its really no different than games like Halo or CoD in the sense that people play them alot, the only real diff is that there is always some way to progress on WoW as opposed to just shooting ppl in the face all day :)
@ghpkhg man if your town got nothing then do something about it instead of wasting your life by playing a shitty computer game!!!! and if you say wow is the same like halo and shit you obviously got no clue what s going on.
@Keywest1984 haha i said in the sense of people playing them allllll the time, everyone just gets butt hurt about people playing WoW because alot of people take it too far...read before you comment asshole....
@ghpkhg There is nothing to do in your town because you dont find anything to do.. life is what you make it..if a video game is the only thing u can do, then thats it..if ur town was that bad EVERYONE in town would be raiding..eh?
I play video games with as much free time as I can. I enjoy every moment and will quit/find another game if I get bored and not whine on internet forums for more free stuff like many people do like little children. I am studying programming and aiming to become a programmer in games development as a professional career. I also make great friends in the games I play and some of those friends are female. None of this is strange or bad for me, but I understand for some people it might be strange.
@cattysplat its strange because a social life in game is alot different than a social life outside of one. your life one change or expand much if you dont take any risks and you sit inside and play games all day.
Not really haha. Dude I get on sometimes just to see what friends are on, to talk to. And if they're not on...i log off and go outside or do something else. Believe it or not. Some ppl have a life, coming into the game and still keep that life while playing. It's supposed to be an addition to your life like any other game. Not take over. Atleast that's how I view it
Well actually everything you 're saying I already knew, However if someone else says it to you like that it does make me start thinking cause yes I play wow I have several issues in real life wich I really hate, but for real I dont really know any solutions what so ever to stop playing the game. And even though I play it I hope I become wise anough some day to quite.
lol, great and trippy video. I have a friend who collapsed on the street cuz of this damn WoW game. The funny and sad thing I see is that he didn't learn anything from his last stroke. Omg.
I've known around.. 5 people that have gotten together on wow 1 in real life the other 4 i just know on the game but the one i know in real life got married he's actually a pretty successful guy he's in the navy. I think the games great imo.
To be honest guys,he is right .I recently stopped playing the game after 4 years i got the best gear in the game ,best possbile teams and stuff and now without the game i feel much better
I play video games everyday of the week, but i know where you're coming from. If i sit in my house and play games all day i get that strange feeling you mentioned. So i play video games only about an hour or 2 a day, the rest of my time i'm at work or with my girlfriend. It's good to have other things in your life, being a video game addict can cause real problems.
LOok play WoW if u want i play WoW, Im a lvl 80 getting ready for high schoolo and have a great life i got friends go out to party and still have a gf just dont take it in to real life
I dont think its a joke guy! Not being addicted to drugs or drinking does not justify into being addicted to WOW! Or have issues in reality should justify hiding in WoW! It's a real issue! Look how much people who play it get offended to the issues WoW has caused, its because they are addicts!
lol... blah blah my family is addicting its a problem....lol i would rather be addicted to wow then to drugs and drinking like the people who dont play now think about that while your playing wow people are out doing drugs and hitting drunk drivers lol
Ya know i used to play WoW but what gets me is why people are like "dont play it! it will ruin ur life!" i played the game alot and i got a job and am going to college. I take it or leave it, its a fucking video game i play it because I'm bored and rather not watch the sports channel or go to a smelly bar lol.
Dude the getting fired and quiting all aspects of life but wow is urban legend. A Korean man died from dehydration while playing another mmo but he also played wow and had an active account. straight dope screen shot or it didn't happen man. Not giving names protects the person you mention but discredits your story
i think its unfair to claim that its an addiction, BEFORE you look at console gamers as well, Call of Duty players, and Halo players can have the same stuff
i once played WoW for 16 or 18 hours one day. but that's when the game was new to me. just so you know the main reason why some people are playing all the time is the end game raiding. raiding is what takes up a lot of poeples times. my old guild was considered "casual" raiders and they raided 3 days a week for about 4 or 5 hours a night.
Becuase Honestly the Real world sometimes flat out sucks. I play wow alot but i have a good job a wonderful GF. So being addicted yea it can happen but you can break the addiction.
I have so much to say to this, I can agree to some points and disagree to others, but the main thing I want to say is that this sounds a lot like what is happening to me. Don't judge me, it is fun, that's why it's addictive. I tell myself I am going to stop, but I never seem to get around to "quitting". I've been putting off uni to play this game...
I have met someone through this game and honestly it feels like we're meant to be together.
All I can say: It's the game making us all like this.
OMG u are saying it is a funny story but i dont see the fun part in it.
U say that u dont know the story. Then why do u tell the story?
U tell us that ashe is only playing WoW all day with her husband in her parent's basement. How do u know? Have u been at her place or what and how many times?
One last thing. WoW is not a comlete escape from reality moron. The game is based on peoples who CONNECT and play With each other. Baes mainly on TEAMWORK. Is that something that dont exist in reality?
No, he is saying it is ironic, however, that a married couple from a video game are living in the mother's basement doing nothing but playing a game together. He's also telling the story to give us a percise example of what the game can do as an addiction. Now, you're right, teamwork does exist in reality, but working together to quest and to achieve fantasy-like goals, does not exist in reality, and maybe they should get out more. Go to the mall. Go to a theme park. Maybe go see a movie, etc.
1. Calm the hell down and maybe use the word 'you'
2. Apparently he does know the story he said he just didn't know it completely.
3. How does he know anything that he hears, in fact how do you know anything is true that you hear? He assumes it's true because of the source. You might as well question everything in the video if that's your basis.
4.There's nothing that is a complete escape from reality, moron. WoW is escape from reality even if there's teamwork, it's about the environment.
Very concise and to the point. No rambling... I liked the video, and I very much agree about the addictive and "mess"with your mind" properties. Personally, I think the game is a social epidemic, and somebody should put it down.
A person I work with has become addicted to WOW. It's so messed up to see him self-destruct. As of today he is no longer my co-worker because he got fired. I am 100% sure this is a direct result of his WOW addiction. He was above average 5 months ago before someone introduced him to this game. Now he is an umemployed 29 year old who sits in his appartement all day playing a stupid game.
Why do you even care what OTHER people do with their free time? Everyone spends it as they want...be it sport, games, outing, art or any other hobbies. Just don't let it consume you which is more of a danger with addictive personalities, then it's a problem but only your own...the point is...let people do what they wanna do as long as they don't harm anyone else.
Thanks.I wonder if you still feel the same way once you reach a higher level tho. @ level 80 a 25 or 40 man raid takes 3 to 5 hrs. Raids and guild commitments are demanding of your time. You may start playing for minor escape, but from playing you develop an attachment to the game and therefore a greater need to escape your real life. I gave up WOW. I still have numerous characters on the servers, I may play again, Idk. All the best m8, sincerely :)
This guy is right. If you can control that is good for you but there a people with very addictive personalities and also people that are running from real life. Me i avoided this game so much because i knew that i would be sucked into it because of my addictive personality. I wasn't running from my life i have great friend a great job etc... So when a friend finally convinced me to play i got sucked in even after all of my friends quit i was still playing. In conclusion players BEWARE.
It's true this game is escaping from reality. All games are ,that's why you play them ffs. And not just PC games ,some people are addicted to Playstation ,some to social games ,some to casino games ,some to...sexual games ^^
I totaly agree with you, i used to play wow about 4-6 hours on weekdays and just about double that time on the weekends, but iv seem to be playing a bit less and less now that iv capped my main characters lvl and got some good gear, but i personally got board of trying and trying to get the best gear possible and just started on the next char! then again it was still a pain in the ass to lvl it up again so i just started to focus some of that time onto school work
i'm addicted i play aaallllllll day long but i'm not technically addicted i get off and on all day so instead of sitting on my couch waiting for baseball game i just play wow while i w8...infact im getting on my pally soon
Tell that to the other 11 million "wow nerds" out there. Once something is this mainstream, can you keep acting tough and "cool" by calling the people that play it nerds?
i am just as "addicted" to guilwars as i am WoW but for different reasons and here they are, my "addiction" for WoW is i like to grind levels, i say one more level then ill stop but i keep going, and i am drawn in by the social aspect, for guildwars its the planned pvp system and team build and the fact its a structure RP too and all of it requires skills in command, so those are my reasons for being addicted to both games, but i dont use these games as a shield for outside life,
WoW can be addictive, and most other games are, but what i find funny is most people target WoW and don't realise Guild Wars is just as bad, but in a different sense, people see wow as a *run round aimlessly* mmorpg and guildwars is a straight forward mapped out game, but in either sense there the same game, what people should analyz is that a single game isnt an addiction its just a reflex to a wide asset of gaming addiction......
I think it's funny how you judge people for having an World of Warcraft addiction , when there are far worse addictions. And I think you should examine yourself and realize your addiction to making pointless youtube videos. Lol but its your own opinion. I could care less. Just think it's funny that some one who makes a ton of videos for youtube can call some one out about World of Warcraft
I started playing WoW after a 3 month meth binge. Drugs had mainly been my whole life since I was 13..Didn't really care much for anything else..It was when I was 17 I decided I didn't want to let the drugs end up killing me.. I then spent alot of time at a friends house( who played WoW )as a place to escape my social friends. I saw him play the game so much while I was there I gave it a try. So you say people play it cuz they have no friends..Well I play it because i choose to have no friends.
I'm 16, good shape. I never did well in school.. have alot of friends that play the game. they got me into WoW. i go to school, come back, go on WoW.. on the weekends sometimes i dont even sleep. i used to play club soccer.. i played soccer since i was 6 years old. As soon as i started to play WoW i didnt find it fun anymore.. School seemed asif it didnt need it. This made me skip school for more then half of the year.LFG RL
80 gnome mage - 80 Troll preist - 80 Night Elf Hunter - 80 Human pally
I'm 17. I'm a high school graduate. I cannot afford college. I've applied for over 50 jobs in my area, and nothing, mainly because no one will hire anyone under 18 in my state. I'm in great shape, and started growing bored of life, so I started playing WoW. I play atleast 12 hours a day, and I just want to say that it isn't an addiction. No one feels remorse for playing it for over 5 hrs a day because they do it willfully. It's simply something to do when there is nothing else we'd rather do.
Seriously........ that is the fucking sadest thing i have ever heard EVER..... dude meet people the normal way... go outside (graphics are uber leet out there)... im not saying give up wow personaly i think its good if you play with moderation... im interested have you ever met her face to face(webcam doesn't count)??
If you are addicted to WoW and you are living with your parents and they don't unplug your computer and slap you for being dumb, then they shouldn't have had you in the first place.
I suggest you stop judging other people (basement couple) and concentrate on your own life! imo you cant comment on their relation unless you are actually living with them.
Think of it like this. All the people that think WoW is bad and that people shouldn't play it all that much, well, just think, they could be doing something so much worse if they weren't so preoccupied with WoW like drugs, or alcohol. Aside from that, you can't really say how much WoW is to much WoW unless you're losing jobs and friends. It's their life, if they're playing to much, the honest ones know and cut back. WoW is fun, so people play it alot. It's no different than any other hobby.
sure if thats how you want to see it thats fine i wont try and change your views i just think if you live your life sitting in a room looking at a computer its not exactly fufilling i mean yes ok get the best gear in a raid etc etc but is that really life fufilling? im all for people having hobbies and wow as a hobbie but as a way of life i think we have to agree to disagree here . :o)
everyone of us are diffrent, i don't think anyone can say what is bettter for other in these kind of ways, don't you get most out of you life when you do things you like to do or do things that make you happy? not doing things people think is better for you? what is life fullfilling to me or you might not be to to your neighbour, friend or anyone else, diffrences in people is great, if we all did enjoy the same things i would be borred, diffrences in people are great.
to bammick you think it is peffectly acceptable to sit at a computer screen for hours and hours at a time talking to people you dont know and basically living your life out through a computer character? i think yes play wow but in moderation as it just isnt healthy to sit at a computer screen for that long reality is more important then pretend friends and pretend worlds.
pretend? some play the game with people they already know from school or work, maybe they live far from each other and has the game as a connection still. I think sitting in front of a computer is as acceptable as most other things, my point is just do what you like, if a game makes it for you or trraveling does, then do it, hard to tell whats the better for others. If someone enjoys his/her life by doing sertain thing should i come and say they are wrong because i got other ideas? never will.
I don't mind anyones opinion on anything, games, religion, food, well anything, but, calling it a problem that someone plays warcraft a lot, might not be right. at least define what a/the problem is? is it better watchng televisoin, doing sports, reading book`'s? If you think warcraft is fun and you like the teamwork and/or "social" thing with other gamers, then go ahead and play, if you like sports of any kind go do it. to sum it up, i just think you should do what you like.
i kind of agree with you.... i wouldn't consider myself obessed with the game cause i only play 2-3 times every two weeks... but it is something i like doing.. including football talking on the phone watching TV and all the stuff .... it's just another small hobby...
I think your just fucked up lol. Who the hell gets tired and cant buy groceries after WOw. And not a lot of people to escape. Your looking at it from 1 point of view. MAYBE the game is fun. Just maybe.
if you are playing wow for like 8 hours a day, every day then it is a problem and you need to get into the real world. people who play the game obbsessivly aremostly escaping real life. the meeting her husband on wow isnt crazy its the both of them sitting side by side playing hte game hours on end that is crazy. newly weds shud be out enjoying htemselves in love etc etc not sitting disscussing raids infront of a computer screen.
is talking about raids or games worse or better than talking about, paintings, nature, love, the meaning of life, food, sex, cars, kids or rock and roll??? or is it just a question about what kind of hobby/interests you got?
I'm not sure why you tell a story your not 100% sure about but ok. And by the way, one of my closest friends now is someone I met through Dark Age of Camelot years ago. But thats too screwed up to be real. I supposed I am addicted, that or I enjoy a game and I play it because it's fun, but nah, that can't be it.
wow is great fun, sure u lose alot of time but if u enjoy the game ur not really "losing time" people spend hours on end on FPS's and they dont critisised, and idc what they say ima keep playing and enjoying wow
anyway i still play the game but not half as much as i used to and i work now go out with all my mates in teh real world again and met a loverly girl and soon we are getting a place together i dont even know wha tmy point is anymore lol im going to bed night night lol
why is meeting someone on wow fucked up? it be just like playing tennis or something and meeting someone there? they obviosly both loved the game and was sharing what they loved best. however i fully agree it can be addicting and also becouase of its escapsm facter alot of people play it to escape there lifes forwhatever reason .. depression of some sort probebly mainly, anyway i used to be a addict myself then reliased it wasnt the game but me escaping life becouase i was depressed
Can I just say, if your an addict it doesn't mean your escaping the real world for a reason like some people think you may get bullied or have no friends etc. But for me I used to be addicted and I have many friends and a great life its just I really enjoyed playing the game then, I started playing more and more. Finally I quit for about 6 months and now I have started again but now I'm not addicted I just play to level and make new friends etc. Thanks for reading
WoW is pretty fun but like you said after a few hours you feel really weird for some reason. It doesn't happen to me for other video games, just WoW lol.
thats stories fucking hisalirous what sad retards married live in parents basment playing wow all the time, however if you a kid there nothing wrong with playing video games, its a bit sad if ur an adult ..
i don't play wow to escape reality, i play it cos it fun i also do other different things there nothing wrong with playing it, it is quite addictive :D
people don't escape reality to play wow. we play cause it's fucking fun. but it's very time consuming. and you look like you need to put down the coffee dude.
Alot of people do play wow to escape reality but the sad part is people make fun of people for playing a fucking video game which in turn leads to them being insecure and just wanting to play the game more and not interact socially. What people dont understand is that everyone has feelings..you may say WTF ARE FEELINGS THAT SOUNDS GAY..No you have em', and the more you pick on or tease them the less socially active they are going to be, its a vicious circle ( No Dane Cook Reffrence!).
i use to play wow alot..i think what got me off was just this guilt i felt during and after i played it. i think this guilt derived from my belief that i wasnt accomplishing anything while playing it
yha i was addicted to battlefield 2 butt i notice ed that i wasted an average 2 summer brake's playing it i went cold turkey but i have a worse addiction now all i do is shoplift so witch one is worse shoplifting addiction or a video game addiction
No disrespect but 14 lvl doesn't make you "a real player" you must have at least 1 character with level 70 and then u can say "I am not addicted" cuz when u play 2h even per day you don't know real rules of this world (if u start from 0 "to hero") :D
I think you have a point.. It may not start out as escape but eventually it may. I have level 70 horde t4 and sadly... I am addicted. I don't even fit the demographic they were shooting for. I'm a mom/wife 34 and being
I am no longer able to view videos with ads... wtf? Why won't it play?

I play video games everyday of the week, but i know where you're coming from. If i sit in my house and play games all day i get that strange feeling you mentioned. So i play video games only about an hour or 2 a day, the rest of my time i'm at work or with my girlfriend. It's good to have other things in your life, being a video game addict can cause real problems.

Maggot1750 2 years ago
the game is addictive because of the social interaction it creates for people. at least that's what it was for me anyway.
Aulpa 2 years ago
i once played WoW for 16 or 18 hours one day. but that's when the game was new to me. just so you know the main reason why some people are playing all the time is the end game raiding. raiding is what takes up a lot of poeples times. my old guild was considered "casual" raiders and they raided 3 days a week for about 4 or 5 hours a night.

All I can say: It's the game making us all like this.
xObunnyluvOx 2 years ago
OMG u are saying it is a funny story but i dont see the fun part in it.
U say that u dont know the story. Then why do u tell the story?
U tell us that ashe is only playing WoW all day with her husband in her parent's basement. How do u know? Have u been at her place or what and how many times?
One last thing. WoW is not a comlete escape from reality moron. The game is based on peoples who CONNECT and play With each other. Baes mainly on TEAMWORK. Is that something that dont exist in reality?
Narinomis 2 years ago
No, he is saying it is ironic, however, that a married couple from a video game are living in the mother's basement doing nothing but playing a game together. He's also telling the story to give us a percise example of what the game can do as an addiction. Now, you're right, teamwork does exist in reality, but working together to quest and to achieve fantasy-like goals, does not exist in reality, and maybe they should get out more. Go to the mall. Go to a theme park. Maybe go see a movie, etc.
renovendetti963 2 years ago
WoW is escape from reality even if there's teamwork, it's about the environment.
mtolstoyed 2 years ago
Very concise and to the point. No rambling... I liked the video, and I very much agree about the addictive and "mess"with your mind" properties. Personally, I think the game is a social epidemic, and somebody should put it down.

All the best m8, sincerely :)

i am just as "addicted" to guilwars as i am WoW but for different reasons and here they are, my "addiction" for WoW is i like to grind levels, i say one more level then ill stop but i keep going, and i am drawn in by the social aspect, for guildwars its the planned pvp system and team build and the fact its a structure RP too and all of it requires skills in command, so those are my reasons for being addicted to both games, but i dont use these games as a shield for outside life,
faithlessarrow 2 years ago
WoW can be addictive, and most other games are, but what i find funny is most people target WoW and don't realise Guild Wars is just as bad, but in a different sense, people see wow as a *run round aimlessly* mmorpg and guildwars is a straight forward mapped out game, but in either sense there the same game, what people should analyz is that a single game isnt an addiction its just a reflex to a wide asset of gaming addiction......

It's no different than any other hobby.

liljennstar 2 years ago
everyone of us are diffrent, i don't think anyone can say what is bettter for other in these kind of ways, don't you get most out of you life when you do things you like to do or do things that make you happy? not doing things people think is better for you? what is life fullfilling to me or you might not be to to your neighbour, friend or anyone else, diffrences in people is great, if we all did enjoy the same things i would be borred, diffrences in people are great.
Bammik 2 years ago
to bammick you think it is peffectly acceptable to sit at a computer screen for hours and hours at a time talking to people you dont know and basically living your life out through a computer character? i think yes play wow but in moderation as it just isnt healthy to sit at a computer screen for that long reality is more important then pretend friends and pretend worlds.
liljennstar 2 years ago
pretend? some play the game with people they already know from school or work, maybe they live far from each other and has the game as a connection still. I think sitting in front of a computer is as acceptable as most other things, my point is just do what you like, if a game makes it for you or trraveling does, then do it, hard to tell whats the better for others. If someone enjoys his/her life by doing sertain thing should i come and say they are wrong because i got other ideas? never will.
Bammik 2 years ago

I don't mind anyones opinion on anything, games, religion, food, well anything, but, calling it a problem that someone plays warcraft a lot, might not be right. at least define what a/the problem is? is it better watchng televisoin, doing sports, reading book`'s? If you think warcraft is fun and you like the teamwork and/or "social" thing with other gamers, then go ahead and play, if you like sports of any kind go do it. to sum it up, i just think you should do what you like.
Bammik 2 years ago

if you are playing wow for like 8 hours a day, every day then it is a problem and you need to get into the real world. people who play the game obbsessivly aremostly escaping real life. the meeting her husband on wow isnt crazy its the both of them sitting side by side playing hte game hours on end that is crazy. newly weds shud be out enjoying htemselves in love etc etc not sitting disscussing raids infront of a computer screen.

No disrespect but 14 lvl doesn't make you "a real player" you must have at least 1 character with level 70 and then u can say "I am not addicted" cuz when u play 2h even per day you don't know real rules of this world (if u start from 0 "to hero") :D
