I agree with Justin. Rooney didn't dive neither was he fouled. In fact Rooney thought the foul was given against him and threw his hands up in frustration. He looked as bemused as everyone else when he saw the referee pointing at the spot. I am sure thats what he was laughing about with his teamates just before the penalty was taken.

Arshavin did something similar to that at Fratton Park last season. He was awarded a penalty and told the referee that it wasn't a foul.
