listen buddy, u have to practice more on pencil and paper and then move up to a tablet, you need more practice, your lines arent straight enough. just keep in mind that practice gives you better results.

@TheCoquiking I never started with pencil and paper. I jumped straight to using a mouse on the computer, because... strangely enough, I find drawing on the computer much easier than drawing with a pencil O.O unless it's the pencil option on paint! *dun dun, CH!*... yeah...

Dude, you know that the spacing between the eyes should at least be big as the eye. otherwise your character will have his eyes to close to eachother. Try self to look in the mirror and messure the space between your eyes and you will see that the space are as big as one of your eyes

Dude, you really need to learn the nuts and blots stuff (perspective, anatomy, proportions, etc) before even considering details and characteristics. Forget about tricks and computer crap and start using a pencil and paper. Learn the basics first and "creativity" will naturally come afterward. You can't be creative or express yourself when you're still grappling w/basic skills. I'm not trying to be mean but you should watch some tutorials instead of posting them, at this point

Oh, this is one of my biggest struggles. I can never seem to get my faces to look right. I always get the eyes, nose and mouth ether too low or way too high. So I thank you for posting this video, it helped clarify quite a few of my anatomy mistakes.

Great vid...

The only thing is that scratching is bad and takes time. I think scratching is a good way to get a very steady line. Most manga artist ink over. Not much point to the texture if your just going to ink over. Its just for the foundation.

If you are using photoshop, on your tool theres something called a "crop tool" you could have cropped the ear and resized it that way. :0

You need to learn how to use your programs if you are going to teach people.

I use a Wacom Bamboo Fun Medium. On the low end as far as Wacom tablets go, but I wasnt sure if I was going to like them, so I decided not to invest too much. The program is Adobe Photoshop CS3. Thanks for watching.

Nah, I draw girls too, I just find drawing guys easier, as the male figure is imo much more simplistic as its more angular, with women there are a lot more curves that require better pen control, so for a beginning tutorial like this, I used a male face

not bad. but if you want to define age, its all in the jaw and the area around the eyes/nose. if you want younger, make the jaw more circular. older, define the jaw bone on the edges =P. just a tip

Actually thats better for defining gender. An angular jaw for males, and a more rounded jaw for females, as well as young male characters. For age, adding wrinkles around the eyes and forehead areas, as well as some wrinkles coming off the nose is usually your best bet.

Yo. I use a Wacom tablet. Its basically a small board that is pressure sensative and works with a stylus pen to simulate using an actual pen, pencil, or brush. They're rediulously awesome and if you're getting into digital art I can't reccomend one enough
