4) and most importantly, adding ones taste to anothers work doesn't falsify what it is to begin with. adding a technical/shred/more notes/different tone (whatever you want to call it) can be rather tasteful and creative esp in this case when put along side/on top of a given style/background as long as the main idea/theme is kept. for example, afro remade movies have urban dialect and settings. if queen latifa did "snow black" would you say it no longer has the original disney storyline? it would

He´s my favorite guitar player on the Tube but this is not his best performance, i´m not talking about this feeling crap that everyone says, if you don´t like speed than you should hate Paganini and Mozart as well, the only issue with this vid is that the solo doesn´t fit the song...
This guy can probably make a nursery tune sound good ,doesn't mean it's good. Sure it's got emotion, SO WHAT, it still sounds like shit. Neil Young played one note solo's that had emotion (Cinnamon girl) . Guitar center has a ton of these kind of players, can't get away from trying to impress everyone that looks his way.
guitar center has a lot more players playing just one note. one big fat note that's full of emotion. like neil young. dude, you are so bitter. learn the instrument and practice. only after you have advanced in training will you have enough expertise to criticize someone like gotardo. until then, go gently into that good night. that goes for the rest of you invalids too.
@TheRosenbergTrials Missouri state university for theory. 38 years playing guitar in and out of various bands thru the years. In fact I played with Buddie Guy while I lived in Chicago. Not bitter just smart. You have something to learn. By the way, read my post again pinhead.
i read your post again. didn't miss anything. all you did was criticize and suggest there are tons of guys like him trying to impress listeners at guitar centers. so...i was correct to suggest you are bitter and now it seems i can add another suggestion: people with humility don't call themselves "smart". it therefore follows that sitting in with buddy guy may have left you somewhat arrogant, regretful and shallow. you can have the last word--i'm sure it will be a good read.
okay, the lisp bit was pretty funny. but now we know you're a homophobe. and even funnier than your lisp joke, is the fact that most homophobes are likely, closeted gays. so... now we know that apart from all your other flaws, the most detrimental might very well be that little bugger, denial. ha--i said bugger. look, being gay is not a sin. live, damn it! go out and suck on some cock! and let me know how that went. minus the details. and minus the letting me know part.
@TheRosenbergTrials The lisp thing was meant to be funny and that's all. I thought that would be enough to end it. Dude I had a opinion to start with, that's all. sorry to get ya all upset. Sad though that you can't seem to get over this..? why? even after you " gave" me the last word. Free speech not except able here I guess. Now I will go sit in a corner and ponder my terrible deed.
aw... it's all good, man. i just thought we were havin fun at each other's expense, is all. that can be a fun release from time to time. no one get's hurt, etc. anyway, sorry if i went too far. no ill will at ya.
There's no guitarists like Gottardo around. Not many can do 8 finger tapping as cleanly as him or write nearly as amazing songs. Look at his other works before judging so fast.
@KellerDude4 oh geez another one..no I'm not kidding..o.k he's good but to damn much. I bet if he slowed down with less flash he would be awesome but until then I can you tube a bunch of players like him and you know it. and thanks for your time.
Give me a list of players just like Gottardo's style, go ahead, I dare you. There's not many guitarists like him and it's almost impossible to find another on Youtube but I'd like another name because I love his kind of playing. Many guitarists feel like they can't say what they want without speed and I completely agree, always being slow can never give the intense and climactic feeling fast playing can in music. Finding the perfect balance is the secret, and Gottardo has.
I love how people think this sucks...The problem is that you suck and will come back to this one day when you want to learn how to play.This kid is one of the best you fools!!! This is just way too advanced for a beginners ears.
@IronMan360 it's not that music has rules and even if it did i wouldn't be the one to make em' up but his playing has almost nothing to do with hendrix.
@kostq94 his playing isnt supposed to have anything to do with hendrix. the backing track is what is supposed to be hendrix. like the title says hes just playing along, in his own style.
@Fendershred50 I really like his style, is hard to have one with all that senseless shred out there, but this man makes his guitar sing even shreddig. I'm only saying that I don't like this one, but I really enjoy his playing
cAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY THIS VIDEO HAS ONLY 4 STARS !!!! DAMN YOU FUCKS THIS GUY FUCKIN AMAZING ... I AM GONNA LEARN ALLOT FROM HIM SO SHOULD YOU ... GREAT WORK DENIELLE ,,, SALUTE FROM CROATIA!
@cicocico777 You know what? Jimi was a musician who pushed the envelope. Same thing this guy is doing. Oh and by the way, nice videos to back up your trash talk.
Wow. A lot of you guys will just never get it. This is a very colorful example of expanding your vocabulary and dynamics around an otherwise dead blow progression. There shouldn't be any rules. The best thing that could happen is if you boring Joe Walsch / Jeff Beck clones could just quietly go extinct while the rest of us move forward.
@itowedin Exactly! I'm sick of people bitching others out on not having any "feeling" when they play an instrument just because they're not looking up at the ceiling with their eyes closed and nodding their heads while they shake some poor, sepid notes for 5 hours. He's obviously playing stuff he enjoys, so how could he not have any "feeling" put into it? Don't diss him if you don't like it, you don't have to justify your opinions by putting down someone else's way of doing something.
@itowedin are you intelligently inferior? this has no soul. he understands the guitar but it has no soul. You apparently think Metallica is the best band to every live because they can play the guitar but it has no meaning.
@Dai3eb It's the weekend man...Shouldn't you be outside? 28 thumbs up makes for a compelling arguement. Every time I get a reply like yours I know I'm doing the right thing.I feel more confident today thanks to you.
@Dai3eb You have no idea what you are talking about..... You fucking cunts think you know the meaning of soul..... Jimi played dirty sounding things, all the fucking time,,, TO someone else, that is not soul, but to JImi it was, so who the fuck are you to say that you unique...
petiethepie - you are right, jimi hendrix would not be considered a virtuoso today, by very definition virtuosity implicitly demands breaking the boundaries.
Not a whole alot of blues or feel in that. He's an excellent guitar player, but i think he could have shown us he was even better by being diverse and playing out of his shred/tapping comfort zone.
I understand the argument.Yes Jimi was it in his day but guitar like anything else thats been around long enough has evolved bigtime over the last 50yrs.Jimi was an amazing songwriter,and probably the best player in his day but facts are facts there are guys out there today like Govan,The late Shawn Lane,Vai,satch,Etc,etc,that are so far beyong Jimi on the technical side of things its not even funny.If Jimi jumped on the scene today as a guitarist it he would not be considered a virtuoso.
But I hate to compare guitarists,they all bring so much to the table labeling anyone as the best is impossible.Whatever moves you the most J.H.,Govan,Vai,Satch,whoever ,,if it floats your boat and is what you like the most then its the best for you and thats the only fact that matters really.
Myszkowski--according to your 'logic', I guess musicians of the Hendrix era like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Doors, do not measure up to present day standards either because they were "...a long time ago..." You must also feel that when it comes to science Einstein must be sub standard--in warfare Napoleion inferior, and in literature Shakespeare a mere hack (OMG-- 500 years ago)--they were all "a long time ago". If you're going to debate, find an argument with a vestiage of merit.
Hmm Myszkowski--Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, David Gilmore, Jimi Page, Steve Howe, Jan Akkerman, Allan Holdsworth, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, and of course the ever immortal Jimi. Like me to continue? I lost count, but think that's more than 10--LOL.
i Found this improvisation a little bit boring Techniiiiiiique more than feel....that's my view....but ussualy he is oone of the guitar wizard ia have ever seen him and Guthrie
@YngtchieMusic I like him usually..but this is not as good as other videos...the runs are too random and not good for the song..just an opinion..he's amazing..but here I don't ike him
@LazyHammond91 So why didn't you just say so? "bleah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! horrible" is not something I'd wanna say about a fantastic guitarist like Gottardo unless I really, truly meant it. Granted, it's not as captivating as his other vids, but methinks it's pretty far from "horrible".
@LuteroReforma ..0:17 what is that? what's that bending? it doesn't make sense..people like malmsteen vai or satriani, even if they don't play "hendrix style" and they"shred" they know how to put each note in the right place so that what you hear is incredible.gottardo is awesome for the technique, but something he does are horrible,and not just for me..that's probably because he is now famous for the technique and he "must" play like that to mantain his image of shredder guitar hero
@LazyHammond91 But dude...I tell you this...this is just your opinion...
I hear this solo, and for me all notes are in the right place...
The Guitar is an art...All diferent styles...The best guitar player in the world, is the person that SOMEBODY thinks is the best, in their own OPINIONS...
I hear this solo, and for me is awesome...Great tune, great phrasing, all notes in the right place, very original composition...
flame me if you want for saying this but this kid is like three times better than jimi ever was.and it's not because of all the fancy shit he's doin either.but of course jimi's twist on this stuff has been set in stone.
I can kind of agree with you on this one, actually. I mean, Hendrix is a dominating force in musical history. This kid has nothing on his legacy, but in terms of technique - so awesome.
This kid is prone to chromatic scaling, Jimi's songs had a much better song because his playing was much more soulful and pentatonic. Bullshit that this kid has more talent then him, you try picking an acoustic guitar with 3 strings on it from the dumpster and learning how to play it left handed when you are 13, then you can talk shit about whoever you want. Better yet, I'll buy you a fucking radio station, asshole.
peter i can certainly appreciate your passion for jimi,i love his music and what he has done for the industry. although jimi was a great song writer his playing skills weren't even close to this kid or anyone of todays greatest players.this level of creativity may be going over the head of many listeners but i assure you that it is way better than most realize.jimi's playing was simple and sloppy but somehow very tasteful and unforgettable.
Jimi was the best. As far as I can tell, there are two different guitar worlds, the one where players play music for everyone to appreciate and the one where players just play for the other guitar players. Nobody should be knocking Jimi. Ever. And nobody should knock this guitar player either, because this is kind of an instructional demonstration (and anyone who teaches in some way should be respected and appreciated for that).
If Jimi was still a live no one could touch him, no one could then, he played stuff no one else thought of playing, I'm not a guitarist, I play keyboards but I am from Jimi's time.

stratonut 1 year ago
@stratonut
guitar center has a lot more players playing just one note. one big fat note that's full of emotion. like neil young. dude, you are so bitter. learn the instrument and practice. only after you have advanced in training will you have enough expertise to criticize someone like gotardo. until then, go gently into that good night. that goes for the rest of you invalids too.
TheRosenbergTrials 11 months ago
@TheRosenbergTrials Missouri state university for theory. 38 years playing guitar in and out of various bands thru the years. In fact I played with Buddie Guy while I lived in Chicago. Not bitter just smart. You have something to learn. By the way, read my post again pinhead.
stratonut 11 months ago
@stratonut
i read your post again. didn't miss anything. all you did was criticize and suggest there are tons of guys like him trying to impress listeners at guitar centers. so...i was correct to suggest you are bitter and now it seems i can add another suggestion: people with humility don't call themselves "smart". it therefore follows that sitting in with buddy guy may have left you somewhat arrogant, regretful and shallow. you can have the last word--i'm sure it will be a good read.

@TheRosenbergTrials Rosie , your affection for tarddo and the lisp in your text indicates to me that your gay.
Thanks for your time.
stratonut 11 months ago
@stratonut
okay, the lisp bit was pretty funny. but now we know you're a homophobe. and even funnier than your lisp joke, is the fact that most homophobes are likely, closeted gays. so... now we know that apart from all your other flaws, the most detrimental might very well be that little bugger, denial. ha--i said bugger. look, being gay is not a sin. live, damn it! go out and suck on some cock! and let me know how that went. minus the details. and minus the letting me know part.
TheRosenbergTrials 11 months ago
@TheRosenbergTrials The lisp thing was meant to be funny and that's all. I thought that would be enough to end it. Dude I had a opinion to start with, that's all. sorry to get ya all upset. Sad though that you can't seem to get over this..? why? even after you " gave" me the last word. Free speech not except able here I guess. Now I will go sit in a corner and ponder my terrible deed.
stratonut 11 months ago
@stratonut
aw... it's all good, man. i just thought we were havin fun at each other's expense, is all. that can be a fun release from time to time. no one get's hurt, etc. anyway, sorry if i went too far. no ill will at ya.
TheRosenbergTrials 11 months ago
@stratonut Are you kidding?
There's no guitarists like Gottardo around. Not many can do 8 finger tapping as cleanly as him or write nearly as amazing songs. Look at his other works before judging so fast.
KellerDude4 11 months ago
@KellerDude4 oh geez another one..no I'm not kidding..o.k he's good but to damn much. I bet if he slowed down with less flash he would be awesome but until then I can you tube a bunch of players like him and you know it. and thanks for your time.
stratonut 11 months ago
@stratonut

CACCAMO911 1 year ago
lappiolu 1 year ago
lappiolu 1 year ago
@lappiolu

Not a whole alot of blues or feel in that. He's an excellent guitar player, but i think he could have shown us he was even better by being diverse and playing out of his shred/tapping comfort zone.
ToffeeConor 2 years ago 3
I understand the argument.Yes Jimi was it in his day but guitar like anything else thats been around long enough has evolved bigtime over the last 50yrs.Jimi was an amazing songwriter,and probably the best player in his day but facts are facts there are guys out there today like Govan,The late Shawn Lane,Vai,satch,Etc,etc,that are so far beyong Jimi on the technical side of things its not even funny.If Jimi jumped on the scene today as a guitarist it he would not be considered a virtuoso.
petiethepitt 2 years ago 2
But I hate to compare guitarists,they all bring so much to the table labeling anyone as the best is impossible.Whatever moves you the most J.H.,Govan,Vai,Satch,whoever ,,if it floats your boat and is what you like the most then its the best for you and thats the only fact that matters really.
petiethepitt 2 years ago
TOM MORELLO--gotta add him to that list below--definitely one of my fav guitarists.
DiGiTaLdAzEDM 2 years ago
Myszkowski--according to your 'logic', I guess musicians of the Hendrix era like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Doors, do not measure up to present day standards either because they were "...a long time ago..." You must also feel that when it comes to science Einstein must be sub standard--in warfare Napoleion inferior, and in literature Shakespeare a mere hack (OMG-- 500 years ago)--they were all "a long time ago". If you're going to debate, find an argument with a vestiage of merit.
DiGiTaLdAzEDM 2 years ago
Hmm Myszkowski--Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, David Gilmore, Jimi Page, Steve Howe, Jan Akkerman, Allan Holdsworth, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, and of course the ever immortal Jimi. Like me to continue? I lost count, but think that's more than 10--LOL.

YngtchieMusic 1 year ago
@LazyHammond91 But...Why horrible??...I can't understand...
LuteroReforma 1 year ago
@LuteroReforma ..0:17 what is that? what's that bending? it doesn't make sense..people like malmsteen vai or satriani, even if they don't play "hendrix style" and they"shred" they know how to put each note in the right place so that what you hear is incredible.gottardo is awesome for the technique, but something he does are horrible,and not just for me..that's probably because he is now famous for the technique and he "must" play like that to mantain his image of shredder guitar hero
LazyHammond91 1 year ago
@LazyHammond91 But dude...I tell you this...this is just your opinion...

mikeytows 2 years ago 2
I can kind of agree with you on this one, actually. I mean, Hendrix is a dominating force in musical history. This kid has nothing on his legacy, but in terms of technique - so awesome.
burroughs334 2 years ago 2
This kid is prone to chromatic scaling, Jimi's songs had a much better song because his playing was much more soulful and pentatonic. Bullshit that this kid has more talent then him, you try picking an acoustic guitar with 3 strings on it from the dumpster and learning how to play it left handed when you are 13, then you can talk shit about whoever you want. Better yet, I'll buy you a fucking radio station, asshole.
PeterVadim 2 years ago
peter i can certainly appreciate your passion for jimi,i love his music and what he has done for the industry. although jimi was a great song writer his playing skills weren't even close to this kid or anyone of todays greatest players.this level of creativity may be going over the head of many listeners but i assure you that it is way better than most realize.jimi's playing was simple and sloppy but somehow very tasteful and unforgettable.
mikeytows 2 years ago 2
Thats some mouth ya got there buddy.You cant make your point and have a mature discussion without throwing insults?Nice man...
petiethepitt 2 years ago
Jimi was the best. As far as I can tell, there are two different guitar worlds, the one where players play music for everyone to appreciate and the one where players just play for the other guitar players. Nobody should be knocking Jimi. Ever. And nobody should knock this guitar player either, because this is kind of an instructional demonstration (and anyone who teaches in some way should be respected and appreciated for that).
