  • 1:12 the spikes spare no one, not even a fake megaman. BTW good run, does anyone know how it's possible for someone to get 1:08 on concrete mans stage.

  • It's not...

  • Y'know, on the last enemy, instead of wasting rush coil, you should spam laser trident as soon as you know it'll be close to the screen. You won't have to stop once if you do it correctly.

  • I hate it when ppl use the bosses weapon on there level, I wish Capcom would disable the boss weapon for the bosses level.

  • Love these speed runs! You are totally 1337 ;) I could never even dream of being so fast

  • Just wanted to point out something, the three blocks that cause a second or two delay appear at exactly 1.07 on both this video and a competing speedrun, even though you enter the room at different times. This shows to me they are clock linked and don't pattern spawn when the room is entered. get here .2 to .5 of a second faster somehow and you'll be able to beat them and shave a full 1 - 1.5 seconds off your time.

  • I picked my order as soon as I saw the select screen, and I chose Plug Man first. Once I pick my order, I don't change it...even back in the day when Mega Man 2 was the newest. Unfortunately...Plug Man is really difficult with the arm cannon, and I refuse to purchase things at the store since I consider it cheating because the older 8-bit games didn't have it, so I have to rely on one E-tank that I find in the level. He's VERY hard with just the arm cannon.

  • He's tricky, yeah. My suggestion is to try to be on the opposite side from him. You know, so the center's between you. Shoot from a distance so you can see his plug ball attacks coming and evade. Oh, and watch them on the ceiling too.

Had to do this a few times.

  • What is the record at the moment guys?

  • 1'25"23 or 1'25"21. It's not going to get much lower without some huge discovery or something.

  • Your run is faster than mine (I noticed a different path), you'll see.

But I think I make better use of the tornado. Nice r.coil at the end though, didn't think of that. (I posted a video response)

I'll try mixing both paths :)

  • I've been trying to get past that final enemy with a concrete block. If you time it right you can just jump over the dude without stopping.

  • just got 1:27:48 myself. Here's a tip: (well if you can pull it off with the concrete shot, cool)

in the last room with the 3 sparks and the ... big monster :p, you can B.bomb the 3 sparks without losing time.. leaving you with one t.blow left to jump over the big guy! :p

But my run was flawless, so I really need to rethink my "first block room" strategy o_O

  • Yes! I hit fifth place! And I'm only split-seconds away from first! That's going to be tricky...

    My run:

    Tornado Blow uses:

    1: Same as Felloweskraft's first

2: One minute into the game timer, you can shoot that floating enemy. Once you're down the last big step, immediately use it. Mind you, you can use your remaining rush jet before the fake mega portal to cross the gap, and hold up and right to go over a floating enemy.

    3: Same as Felloweskraft's last.

    4: Same as Ouranos's last

  • Concrete Shot uses:

1 & 2: After running off the first disappearing block and landing, I fire one. Then I jump and fire at the same time. I land on the first, short-jump to the second, jump to the leftmost part of the ledge, then jump the metool.

On the second block puzzle, stop on the third block for about one fourth of a second before continuing jumps.

  • The long rush jet ride can be considerably easier too. No thought needed. After you pass the last block of the first puzzle in the dark room, hold down until you get under the last wall. However, you must be on Rush's head for this to work.

The problem is the last block puzzle. You'll never be fast enough to get past the block blockade. Therefore, use the rush coil and time it so you head up and through AS SOON as it disappears.

  • Also I was wrong. I tend to waste a satellite if I'm that close to Plug Man. Perhaps I'm mashing too quickly. Either way, I remedy it by being a bit further back.

Sorry about the comment load, but youtube's 500 character limit... Anyhow, if you can make use of this and record sub-1'26, I'd be grateful.

  • wow, thanks for sharing the strategy. I was able to get my time to 1:26:53. But I'll try some of this out and if I can get a 1:25 run.

yeah though, I'm not sure what controls it exactly but you can't fire the satellites too fast.

  • Basically it's a slight hit invulnerability. Like what you have when you get hit and avoid damage for a few seconds, but shorter.

Moved up to 4th, but everything has to be perfect once you set up that rush coil and perfectly pass by the disappearing blocks... 1'25"21 is an insane time.

  • ah.

but yeah, a lot depends on the last block puzzle and the boss battle.

made it back to the leaderboards at 7, 1:25:68. Hopefully I can do another video

  • what about with just the buster?

  • I've only really played time attack so far. I'll try working through some of the challenges of the regular game soon.

  • You should post a video of your current ranking after the run. Good job !

  • Thanks, if I can find some way to bring the time down another second I'll post a new run.

  • Can't you kill that enemy at 1:50 with a stream of Plug Balls? I believe that would be a bit quicker than using Rush Coil. Or you could just get hit by it.

    Nice speed run, anyway.

  • probably better to take the hit, I'll see

  • what about a charged shot of the M.Bazooka?? that could save time...but i guess it's ineffective to this enemy right? -.-

i have a 01:26:98 run but i still want to push this to under 01:26

  • one charged shot and one regular shot from the bazooka will kill that last guy before plug man. I was thinking it might be possible to just run underneath him if he takes a high jump. but haven't gotten it to work.

my best time with this run is 1:27:08, but I haven't figured out how people are almost a second faster.

  • Well... Ouranos has that tornado jump (and I typed something up involving laser trident)

Also a question. Would you be able to optimize using concrete shot to get past the first disappearing blocks setup? I'm only hypothesizing, but if you set up a concrete shot or two on the spikes then use a black hole bomb to get rid of that metool (second part from Ouranos's vid), then can't you go through that hall without stopping?

Bah. Now I want to try time attacking this stage myself.

  • Well, I did. And now I'm certain it works. And you don't even need to kill the Metool afterwards. Just jump it. Though it requires a third concrete shot on the third block of the second set of blocks to attempt to get across without slowing down.

Also I'm pretty sure you can start your shield launches closer.

  • that'd be cool if you could post a video. I've been trying to find some way to get through that third screen with the concrete block. always seem to run into one of the disappearing blocks or get hit by the helmet guy.

  • I wish I could. But sadly, no capture card or anything. And if you make it to the immediate left of the ledge, you can make that jump over it and any shots from it. I may still need to experiment a bit with the timing of the blocks, though.
