People radar detectors are a safe guard not something to keep you from getting tickets its good to know if that pig did actually get you or not

radars are no good. cops out smart them. they have to two ways that work perfectyl for them. 1. is they use a laser, and once the radar beeps its too late, 2. is they have their radar off and turn it on once they spot a speeder. and in both cases the radar does not work wats so ever.

@cadw600 Its actually magnesium. I guess its better at heat dissipation and lighter and helps to shield from radar leaking out.

Well the v1 is better than the v1 I see.Wait...the v1 one is better than the v1 two so that v1 sucks cause the v1 is way better than the v1 so,I will buy a v1 instead of buying a v1 lol. "3.863 and 3.763" < as shown in the programming section of the Valentine website,the number versions of the detector is dependent on how you have it set up. In this case there is just something wrong with your friends unit.

@onewxone its true both me and my friend have v1's and in the manual it tells you never to use them both together. they interfere with each others readings.

You're fine... don't listen to the nay sayers. You honestly don't need K band anyway... or x for that matter. Well at least I don't here in California... cops out here only use ka and of course lasers. X and k, correct me if I'm wrong, just pick up all the automatic doors and diesel trucks when they use their CB radios... right?

Just be sure to NOT forget it on the windshield... You will get a window smashed and your $400 item stolen for sure. I'm still trying to find a replacement for mine. If I ever catch that guy who stole it...

see thats ur problem you have the one closer to the driver and its goin to pick up the hit first...its not heads on...soo that shows nothing..just like if you were to put the one not gettin a hit on the other side im willing to bet it picks up the hit first being that the gun is on the drivers side..

When I got my V1 the guy I bought it from said it needed to be tuned up. Sure enough it was almost dead on K band. Send it in to Valentine Research and get it tuned up. That should fix the problem!

I guess try to reprogram the right V1 Iam assuming you know how to do that. You can switch off X and reestablish K band. If you can't send it to Valentine

You couldn't be more wrong. Running two RDs together is a receipe for fail. They will interfere with each other.

how recent is the 3.872 version and do you think it is an increase in performance for ka and k bands?

K band is definitely on I checked all settings... Just needs to be sent in for a tune. It did end up alerting to k band once at a really strong signal but it was low strength.

It looks like the 3.763 is detecting Ka band just fine and almost on par with the 3.863 so I am betting that the K band has been turned off like I said eariler.

If he bought it off Craiglist, K band may have been turned off by the previous owner. You can tell when a V1 is really out of tune because you have to be real close to K band door openers for it to go off and the Ka band detection will be dramatically decreased. Go to valentine1dotcom and click Mike's Lab Report 3 to make sure that all the arrows are pointing up for the V1's default settings.  Also, you can't test two or more detectors side by side because they interfere with each other.
