  • You really seem to like hold her back with the reins "/

  • Stunnninngg horse!!

  • ur great!! i have a question....how do u learn ur strides?

  • @summersnowbiz learning strides is all about knowing your horses length of stride and knowing how fast they travel, how much ground they cover etc etc. This is all learnt by developing feel for your horse. The more you ride your horse the more familiar you will become with the length of his standard canter stride, trot stride and even walk stride. You'll also discover what works for you when lengthening and shortening your horses stride to help meet the jump correctly. For example, some lazier

  • @summersnowbiz horses will need more encouragement to get them to lengthen and less pressure to get them to come back but hotter horses will need a more sensitive rider. Basically keep riding your horse and try to stick to the one horse so you develop a feel. As time goes by you'll get better at adjusting the strides then when it comes to meeting your jumps you'll be able to feel and judge the distance quite easily. Basically try to sit back, balance the horse and don't interfer too much. Then

  • @summersnowbiz (sorry you'll have to read from the bottom to the top lol) if you realise/ feel your not going to make the jump right, you can half halt/ push the horse accordingly to lengthen/ shorten the stride so that you come in nice and smooth. Try not to nag at the horse too much though because its really distracting for them. Check them/ give them a small nudge and get the new speed/rythem then let the horse do the rest of the work. And have fun :D Sorry about how long this is xx

  • @macsqDressage8
