It's so hard to fit the glory of Oberst into a few songs but, I will try. I suggest Perfect Sonnet, Endless Entertainment, Amy in the White Coat, Laura Laurent, I will be Grateful for this Day, Don't Know When But A Day's Gonna Come, and Haligh, Haligh an awful lie. Those songs show a wide variety of Bright Eye's without the country sound. Be sure to try out the "hit" songs too, such as Lover I Don't Have To Love and Easy/Lucky/Free.
I don't really catergorize any Bright Eyes as full blown country, but there are some songs that are more country than others. Wide Awake is known for it's country, folksy sound.
I too don't consider any Bright Eyes country, but some people who don't like folk consider folk and country the same thing because they hate that sound all together. But..... as any treu Bright Eyes fan knows.. folk rocks!

Sunrise, Sunset. Dont Know When but a Days going to come. The City has Sex. Make War. At the Bottom Of Everything. First Day of my Life. The calender hung itself. and Going For The Gold. They are all great Bright Eyes songs. Maybe try some from the Mystic Valley Band as well.

It's so hard to fit the glory of Oberst into a few songs but, I will try. I suggest Perfect Sonnet, Endless Entertainment, Amy in the White Coat, Laura Laurent, I will be Grateful for this Day, Don't Know When But A Day's Gonna Come, and Haligh, Haligh an awful lie. Those songs show a wide variety of Bright Eye's without the country sound. Be sure to try out the "hit" songs too, such as Lover I Don't Have To Love and Easy/Lucky/Free.

I don't really catergorize any Bright Eyes as full blown country, but there are some songs that are more country than others. Wide Awake is known for it's country, folksy sound.

I too don't consider any Bright Eyes country, but some people who don't like folk consider folk and country the same thing because they hate that sound all together. But..... as any treu Bright Eyes fan knows.. folk rocks!

Sunrise, Sunset. Dont Know When but a Days going to come. The City has Sex. Make War. At the Bottom Of Everything. First Day of my Life. The calender hung itself. and Going For The Gold. They are all great Bright Eyes songs. Maybe try some from the Mystic Valley Band as well.

they shouldn't be under comparison, they are both different and both incredible artists. they may carry similar tones or some similar lyrical ideals.

I don't get it. People just have no self opinion anymore. You have to like what others like. People have to talk about all the stuff other people do. Lots of people compare Connor to Dylan, and they don't care, they just want to fit in, and people think that they HAVE to like the "legends" just because everyone thinks they are good. My big problem with people and music is when they say stuff is horrible. I feel that you can listen to something and not like it, but you can't call it horrible. I completely respect it when people say they don't like Oberst, but when they call his music awful it just annoys the hell outta me.
