  • @GameReviewer1987 You "have no idea where the founding fathers come into this", LOL? Perhaps you should return to a third-grade history class. I do not hate America, only criminal cops, which pervade Philadelphia (which is a filthy dump of a city.)

  • Police misconduct is infinitely more symbolic of this filthy dump of a city than are cheesesteaks, soft pretzels, loser sports teams, Rocky, and the founding fathers combined.

  • @PhillyCopsAreCorrupt

Really? I know a few police officers in Philly and they seem to do what's right and correct based on law of how they should follow. Cheese steaks and Soft Pretzels... I love them. Rocky is a good movie. I have no idea where the founding fathers come into this unless you are some guy that hates America to hell. It's not a filthy dump of a city, sorry.

  • cool song

  • gotta love the h&o in this video. will be there next week!

  • take a video of going through charleroi,pa and cross the belle vernon bridge over the monongahelea river

  • @MrSuperRileymoore love that view!

  • flying by those cars!

  • @beanie1r it's more pronounced due to the fact the video is sped up 3.5/4x normal speed.

  • @Freewayjim no i know but everything is sped up..your still passing them...i do the same thing anyway on 95

  • @beanie1r True, but in all honesty I was only 5-10 MPH above the limit.

  • @Freewayjim haha im not coming at you, im just saying i do the same thing

  • @beanie1r Thanks, I catch a lot of crap for the silliest things, you'd be surprised :)

  • YO NACI EN FILADELFIA ME VINE A VIVIR A LA GRAN CIUDAD DE SANTIAGO DE CHILE SE LAS RECOMIENDO PUENDEN APRENDER ESPAÑOL FACILMENTE EN LAS GRANDES UNIVERCIDADES COMO LA DUOC UC

  • i am a big freewayjim fan

  • @Beard695 Thank you, much appreciated!

  • @Beard695 Me too

  • Philadelphia rated #2 DIRTIEST CITY IN America by Travel and Leisure's Readership (for litter, air and taste of tap water)

Shame on Philly! An ugly national disgrace; enemy of Planet Earth

  • Philedelphia has some busy traffic. Great video

  • @interstateruler Thanks!

  • Thanks for letting ride! Great video!

  • @jiffyjen Thanks for watching!

  • Awesome video! In a perfect world, the traffic would be like this everyday around 5-5:30pm.

  • @ThatGuyFromPhilly Thanks!

  • Cool vid

  • Me and the wife love road trips but don,t have time to do them it nice to watch your videos an wish we can make all those,s trips i know you put alot of time into making them thak you. Steve

  • @STEVE6965 Thanks for watching Steve.

  • You are a man after my own heart. I once drove from Ohio to Oklahoma and back for no reason other than to do it.

  • @cochrab Now that's what I'm talking about :)

  • You are an inspiration to all of us die hard road trippers! Love the video!! Do You travel for business or pleasure?

  • @cochrab Thank you! I travel for family vacations and self indulgence :)

  • Why are there so few lanes on the freeway?

  • @ezekielg1989 Because it's very old (built in the 1950's) and apparently there is not a lot of room along that corridor as well.

  • @24Midnighttoker Great song and fantastic looking city! Hope you've had a great Christmas; think you've got the snow over there now?

  • Yes I-76 West to Pa. Turnpike is tricky, if you miss it you'll be thrown off by miles and lose alot of time.

  • Approaching Downtown???? You were downtown. You were approaching Center City. Not the same thing as Downtown.

  • @shoredude2 Obviously I'm not from the area.

  • @shoredude2 only people in philly call their downtown center city, everywhere else they call it downtown

  • @BufOnSurfceHardNside I'll let the people in New York who have a Midtown and the people in Charlotte who have an Uptown know that they're wrong as well.

  • @shoredude2 never said anyone was wrong, that was you, read before you comment. I was only stating that center city/ downtown are the same thing

  • @BufOnSurfceHardNside New York, Philadelphia, and Charlotte all have downtowns that are NOT the same as Center City. I'm sure there must be more.

  • @shoredude2 I dont want to argue with you. Downtown, center city, uptown, midtown ect. refering to the business district (cluster of skyscrapers usually in the center of every city) are all the same thing. It just depends on where you come from. Dont believe me type in downtown for New York, Philly, and Charlotte under google images you will see a picture of center city, downtown, uptown whatever you want to call it, its all the same thing

  • @BufOnSurfceHardNside In New York, uptown, downtown, and midtown are 3 different sections so obviously they aren't the same thing. There are no skyscrapers in Downtown Philly, it's primarily a residential district. So just because you think they are always the same thing, doesn't mean it's universal in every city.

  • @shoredude2 Whatever...

  • I've been on this road before. Thanks for the video. It's almost impossible to enjoy the scenery when driving through most of these major cities...gotta stay focused on the road (LOL)

  • Nice landscape.

  • man philly is wack

  • Some nights after work in Jersey, I come over the Walt Whitman and drive the same route you do, only I take the 30 Th. Street station exit, then I go up to JFK Blvd. and take that East up to 20 th. Love how the Comcast tower looms over JFK Blvd. I then go up to 20 Th. and Market and proceed East till I come to city hall. I then take South Broad to my home in South Philly! I do a loop, the morning drive helps me unwind. I like driving through Center City in the wee hours, always something to see.

  • @italobambino43 Man, I really miss working in center-city, what a blast!

  • @jwippel

I worked in Center City from 1986 till 1993. I then left for Atlantic City and a new job opportunity, that lasted over six years. I work in South Jersey currently, and I commute to and from my job in New Jersey. When I worked downtown in the 80's, I was a shutter bug, I had my 35mm. camera with me at all times. I photographed all of the ground breaking high rises, from Liberty Place down to the completion of the Mellon Bank Center. I watched Center City grow ever since then.

  • Wow, the Schuylkill Expressway and the Vine Street Expressway were actually moving when you were on them!!! =P Usually when I am on those roads, they never freaken MOVE!!! =(

  • Makes me want to go on 79 south to 76 east

  • @ 3:48 that roadway the Vine Street Espressway took about 5 years to build. It was a mess going through Philly during 1987-1992. Nice Video.

  • The billboard for the strip club at the 3:13 mark was a VERY nice touch considering "Family Man" is playing in the background. Great work!

  • Thanks, sometimes you just get lucky :)

  • @Freewayjim I don't think luck comes into these videos; they're amazing! I've never been to the States, let alone driven on your roads, but I absolutely adore this one of Philadelphia - and the Hall & Oates track is just perfect. I felt quite dizzy by the end of it, though; perhaps it's because of the speed, or the other drivers carving you up or the simple fact that you're driving on the "wrong" side of the road for me!! Keep posting; love them and wish I were there!

  • @MaidofKent1965 Thanks, much appreciated!

  • This is probably last summer as the Amtrak builing on the right (with the slanted top) looks finished and the South St Bridge over the Schuylkill River (1:12 mark) has been removed from over the road way. Hall and Oates music is great. Hall is from the Kensington section of Philly I think. Tough neighborhood. haha

  • watchin this brings back soo many memories of my childhood in Philly/Trenton

  • ppl say that philly is a whole ghetto. but it has a very beautiful side

  • needs more lane but cool

  • i love Philly :)

  • Its always sunny in Philadelphia is

a tv show starring Danny Devito.

  • Hey Jim......Of all the bridges you've crossed,Which one's stand out as being the scariest? (anxiety). I would put 2 on my list.....Francis scott key(baltimore) and the Rainbow bridge(Port Arthur,tx). If you've never crossed the Rainbow bridge....Hold on tight!!!

  • Easily the older Cooper River Bridge (Grace Memorial, built in 1927) in Charleston SC. I crossed it in a large SUV while photographing it about 7 years ago, not alot of room for error on those 10 foot wide lines and no shoulders.

  • Comment removed

  • I think you guys need to see what it's like to ride in an 18 wheeler The key bridge ain't a big deal.

  • You're good!

  • Have you ever gotten into an accident during any tapings? If so, which roads do you think were the most treacherous?

  • No accidents to date (knock on wood). The highways in NYC, Philly & Pittsburgh are probably the most treacherous that I've filmed as they are so tight and twisting in places with short exit and entrance ramps, the drivers there don't help the cause either.

  • What states/cities would you say have the worst drivers?

(I guess you get that question a lot, sorry :D)

  • The Northeast corridor for the most part (Richmond to Boston).

  • I hate I-76, the Amtrak always crosses it instead of the freeway crossing the Amtrak.

  • love the music it was good .. but it looks like Philadelphia is in some dire need of some major widen projects fast

  • Typical Philly driver 1:36

  • OMG I see what you mean dude! That could have been a near miss!

  • Don't fret the venacular Jim. Once again you've taken me home. I look forward to your Philly vids with baited breath.

    Great job as always.

  • Pretty sweet video and good song! :) How do you get the video? Just put a video camera on the dashboard and drive? o_O

  • Thank you, I have a camera on a tripod set up on the front seat floorboard.

  • Now you need to use a Bon Jovi song for the NJ segment lol.

  • I was going to but found something I liked better.

  • 1:34 watch the silver car.

  • hahaha that scared me!

  • @ 1:05 "You get a very nice view of downtown ..."

Ahem ... that's called "Center City" in Philadelphia, not downtown. Much as it is in Atlanta, saying "downtown" is a great way to give yourself away as a tourist.

  • Well I am a tourist :)

  • That merge from PA 291 to I-76 is awful. Lanes just disappear all over the place. Goes from six lanes to three in a matter of feet.

  • Oh and just for correction that part of 291 you were on just before I-76 is 26th Street not Penrose Avenue

  • Well I put Penrose Avenue because the sign on I-76 East at that exit said it was so I figured it would be the same thing coming back.

Considering how messed up the roads are there if that's the only mistake I made labeling I can live with it.

  • You failed to comment that I-676 in PA and I-676 in NJ do not connect as 676 in Phila, once you get off at that ramp there are several traffic lights and turns bf actually getting on the bridge....thats right an interstate that runs on city streets :)

  • There is only so much room for comments, especially at 4x speed but yeah that is kind of a neat oddity.

  • Beautiful Film! lindo día soleado.

  • AWESOME

  • Another good video!

  • That's a nice view of the Ben Franklin Bridge while you are on the ramp to I-95, but... too much going on to enjoy it when driving.

The view of the Phila skyline is nice.

The Jersey Turnpike will be the fifth highway that you've recorded that I've ever been on. [The other four would be: I-93 between Manchester and Concord, NH and the three interstates you covered in the Hampton Roads, VA area] Looking forward to see what section you recorded.

  • and yet a nother alsome vid thanks for posting!!!!!!

  • New Jersey Rules! Best Freeways in the Northeast for views and Travel

  • Excellent! 5*

I like the way you edit the signs an comments.

  • Awesome, awesome shot of the skyline in the beginning! If only that lamp pole somehow wasn't there...

  • Thank you!

My 13 year old son actually took that shot, yeah that lamp pole is a bit of a nuisance with regards to the photo.

  • Nice video.

Those freeways badly need improvement. We've got a lot of potholes in Metro Atlanta, but at least most of the roads are wide.

  • Bryant, It's like night and day when you compare Atlanta to these Northeast cities with regards to the roads, you have no idea how good we have it.

  • Yeah, looking at this video gave me a glimpse into how good we have it here, in Atlanta.

  • excellent video!

  • Awesome video as usual, Jim!

  • I haven't commented yet...But I love the Philly downtown area....but man their highways are in serious need of improvement...! It almost like driving in Chicago...Well I think I'm too used to the Wide Atlanta Interstates....

Oh Yea, Your Videos get A(n) A+

  • Thanks! yes we in Atlanta are spoiled with smooth, wide freeways.
