This is for ndeutsch user . You say americans first. Americans are still first no matter if illegals are paying instate tuition. They get Financial Aid, Grants, Loans And many scholarships. Eventhough Illegals pay instate tuition they dont have acces to financial aid, grants, loans and many other scholarships.
numbersusa, ALIPAC, FAIR, and Grassfire. Google these names and they'll come up. Check out Mexico's rules on illegal immigrants -- very tough, yet they want to open the floodgates for their poor and uneducated to come to the US so they can work and then SEND BACK THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS THEY MAKE HERE ILLEGALLY TO MEXICO! What a deal for Mexico...
What about the AMERICAN and foreign students who PLAY BY THE RULES and don't get in-state tuition?!? Pat Buchanan nailed it on every count. If you reward them, they'll bring more to the US (chain migration). The DREAM ACT will allow this! Call your senator today to vote NO on the DREAM ACT! 1-800-828-0498 Build the fence, and kick out the illegals!
i think it's fair.. the reason they get instate tuition is because they have practically lived in the same state their whole lives.. and someone from some other state should pay the non resident tuition..because of the fact that they arent from that particular state..it would be the same if the illegals had documents..they were to go to another state..hey! it's fair they should pay non resident tuition too
How is fair?!? We're rewarding illegal behavior. It's unfortunate their parents chose to break the law and they're paying the price, but if we start giving "freebies" to illegals, it will never end. Get in line to become a citizen and stop whining. They should blame their parents. Enough of the bleeding heart liberal crap. Call your senators today and insist they vote NO on the DREAM ACT. Call: 1-800-828-0498
I have to wonder about people who use the word "illegal" as a noun, particularly when that peculiar usage is apparently intended to stop all further inquiry. Who exactly benefits if young people who were brought to the U.S. years ago as children and have grown up here are kept "illegal" and uneducated when they could contribute so much more in taxes and otherwise if allowed to adjust to legal status and complete their education?
well, aside from a needless argument in semantics, the fact that it is illegal should stop all debate. however smart the people might be, the American people do not benefit from an open borders policy. (w)ww.cairco.o(r)g/econ/econ(.)ht(ml) there is no right to a college education, anyway.
This debate would be interesting if it were not so consequential. You are like Inspecter Javert chasing after Jean Valjean decades after he stole a loaf of bread to feed his sister's son. But you are more extreme than Javert who, as far as I know, never thought to arrest Cosette.
not really, I'm debating an issue and not making a cozy analogy...although perhaps I'm more like the inspector trying to prevent more crime and the economic collapse of his nation which has to pay exorbitant costs for people who aren't citizens and end up using more services than they pay back.
Funny. Actual studies confirm that immigrants, including undocumented ones, commit far less crime than native-born Americans and help grow the economy. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree about that. The debate on the video isn't about whether immigration is a good or bad thing. It isn't even about whether these kids should've been brought here by their parents years ago as undocumented children. It's about how to treat them now, years later. We'll have to disagree about that, too, I guess.
for some reason I'd just rather put American citizens first...crazy I know.
I'd love to see these statistics as well, and also information on how much immigrants owe in taxes, and how much they pay, also how many taxpayer services they use.
I'd do some research at the Center for Immigration Studies website.
and stop using the term "undocumented", normally followed by "workers"...it's like calling a cocaine dealer an undocumented pharmacist.
Those points have to do with immigration in general. The issue raised in the video is simpler and smaller, and you seem to be avoiding it: how to treat individuals brought here as children years ago. At some point even you must agree that it is time to let go. As I said, these kids are here to stay. Aren't we all better off if they are educated and legal?
No, friend. In fact, "legal Americans" are not in any way helped by holding these young people back. In fact, allowing them to get an education and reach their full potential benefits the rest of us by increasing the taxes they pay and reducing social services costs. You see, it's not us vs. them; we're all in this together. I'm not Christian, but this quotation from Mathew 25:40 seems appropriate: "I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."
This is probably one of the most conservative ideals I will agree on.
I settle my peace with republicans on this issue.

isn't the issue whether or not they are going to be put before legal Americans?
you and your side of thought seems to have a huge stumbling block with the whole legality issue...don't you just wish the law would go away?
Americans first.
Pat was right.

@joshbernstein
Why are you using scripture to justify illegal immigration? In the United States, religion can't interfer in a state matter.
