muzzle flash should be bigger, it needs some smoke. need environment interaction e.g lighting. maybe smoke effects tinted red on blood hit as well :)

Just a couple of notes here:

The high-velocity spatter on the front side needs to be toned down a bit. In real life it actually looks a bit like a red mist spraying out from the body. Also, in the back the spray needs to be slightly different each time. With each shot to the same location the spray needs to be slightly wider and thinner (with little chunks if you can manage that) to represent a gore pattern that is forming in the body.
