@gordonputfile I've got my timer set for 7 1/2 minutes. That generally requires putting back between 2700 and 3000 mAh into my 5000 packs. Probably could stretch it out another minute or so without problems, but that always feels like a good time to land. Flights end up being about 8 minutes.
The prop is an APC 21x13W e series prop. I've yet to come close to using up a battery pack. I'm probably flying 10 minutes and only using about half the juice.
This model WACO, pronounced wacko and not like the place in Texas, has been one of my favorite planes since I first saw it on the cover of Model Builder back in the 1970's. It looks like Pilot 1 has done a great job of engineering to get the plane to fly realistically and Jeff does a good job too.
Thanks guys. I flew for roughly 7 minutes and 40 seconds according to the videos. When I charged my packs I put 3000mAh back into each of them. So I would say an 8 minute flight should still give plenty of reserve. I'm using an APC 21x13 Wide Electric prop.
I have a similar sized bipe I will be working on soon. What size prop were you using? And how much flight time did you wind up with out of the 10S 5000mah configuration?
I love this plane. I live in the town where the real ones were built. Anytime I see a plane built by the Weaver Aircraft Company (WACO), I always have to stop and take notice.
Thanks guys. Only problems I see so far is I need to fix the squeaking wheels without attracting too much dirt, and I need to find a new source of royalty free background music. :)
How much flight time with that battery setup? Lovely build!

@jwjohnson909 great, thanks for the reply. The plane is quite heavy think you could get 2.5x flight time with 3x the batteries?

I'd love to buy this plane but they will not ship it to the uk .pity ,it a great looking plane .well flewn ,have fun-love the video.

@flyinglarry1
The shipping would really raise the cost to the uk. Mine came on a pallet with several empty cartons around it to protect it.

Which 100a ESC are you using to handle the 10s lipos?

@bicyclemonkey
I'm using the Turnigy Sentilon HV 100A ESC. It's good up to 12s.

@Eugensdiet
I had recently learned the correct pronunciation of Waco, but I've been saying it the wrong way for so long it just popped out. :)
jwjohnson909 1 year ago
@Eugensdiet WACO is pronounced like taco.
