  • Yeah that remake was called falling in love and I personally liked it better than this pice of krap, b sides burton looks old poor man his vices just thru him in the death hole how pittyful.

  • Why the hell did they remake brief encounter? I mean the 1945 version was perfect. Why try to fix something that isn't broken?

  • @pinkfairygirl86

There is yet another remake in the 80s with Robert Deniro and Merryl Streep. Set in NYC. Not bad, but nothing like the original.

  • Crap remake.

  • You're aboslutely right. See my comment below.

  • I like Sophia Loren but she was definitely miscast here.

  • Was he still drinking then? He told everyone he had stopped after going into rehab in April 1974. While filming "The Klansman" with Lee Marvin he claimed to have been drinking 2-3 bottles of spirits a day.

  • I don't think he ever really stopped. There were all sorts of rumours going around Winchester at the time to do with him drinking this bar dry and that pub dry. Close up he looked a mess. His skin was horribly pock marked until they applied make up and his hair dyed.

  • The constant smoking didn't help either.

  • @PeterFirthFan this account was terminated for 'extreme violation'. Shame, the comment hit the right nail on the head!

  • @uphollandlatic I saw him once, very briefly, in the mid 70s. His hair was graying and he looked sickly and broken. I don't think he ever stopped either.

  • Do you have the whole film? I'd like to see it.

  • His dye job is toooo dark. Me-ow.

  • coool, i live in winchester.

  • Unfortunately this film does not translate to the 60's as the whole purpose of Brief Encounter was about the temptation. In the 60s they would have been in bed no questions. It needs to be set in the 40's to make it more believable.

  • I saw this movie long time ago. Both artists played so well. The only thing I disagree on the movie was they didnt make love in the only chance they had. It was dissapointed. They deserved it. They were crazy to make it. It had a different version like time ago.

  • Wow - that is an amazing story - and more than makes up for the awful film! How fortunate you are to have met the lovely Sophia!

  • this version is perfectly pallid in comparison to the 1945 version with Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson. That one is a true cinematic gem.

  • It is an awful film. I only out it up here because I was appearing in the performance of the Mystery Plays that they attend along with quite a few of my friends who had just qualified as teachers from KAC, Winchester in 1974. I would guess that this is the only fiml/video record of the ebvent. In fact as the camera pans away from them near the end of the sequence you see three people knelt on the floor repairing props. I'm the one at the head of the group.

  • Postscript to above: It was here that I fell in love with Sophia Loren. believe me she is even more beautiful in the flesh as it were.

  • There seems to be a weird problem with the frame rate or something on this video

At the beginning, the picture freezes for several seconds, though the audio runs on

Please don't take that as a criticism,I'm just letting you know so you are able to re-render the clip if need be (could be a random yt glitch, who knows lol)

  • I enjoyed watching very much

    Thank you :-)

  • Yeah, sorry. Don't know what to do about that.

    Thanks.

  • One TV review read "Burton is miscast...Loren has simply alighted at the wrong station".

  • yes, I love that man! Richard Burton was not only sexy in everyway but had those um beautiful blue eyes. he was highly overlooked by Hollywood and for that it's sad. this man had a great acting ability. love these videos keep them coming!

  • I think this movie was a third in a series of remakes... I like the fact that both were middle aged actors,, still attractive, more mature...and relazed on the screen. Probably not the most memoable roles for either one but this movie still had charm. Thank you for posting it...

  • Mmmmm, I love Richard Burton. Such a great voice. So manly!

    And such a great movie!

Sophia Loren should be banned from all male audiences forever. She makes all us other women look bad!
