  • Wow! Sir Max, my name is Erick Infantas. I'm a peruvian musician, pianist and percussionist and let me tell you, wow! You've done a great job in your independency techniques! Really! You totally got it! You got the flavor, cadence, the "sabor" that us, cajoneros, put when we play the festejo, especially with what you're doing in your snare. It's great! Are you in contact with Alex Acuna? I'm humbled to say that he's a good friend of mine and let me tell you, he'd be so happy and so proud of you!

  • Todo lo del cajón lo hace en tarola-snare.

  • great great video can you tell me the title of the music please.

  • that was great! im peruvian and play cajon and drums as well, very nice video ;) i strongly recommend you to try marinera, its really cool music

  • Très bon! dear friend, could you give us the basic pattern? please.

  • Hey max. I really love this video, after getting into new orleans second line drumming in the past, I think getting into this music would be really helpful! Can you reccomend any accessable afro peruvian groups to listen to? I would love to see just a short explanation of the groove at 1:17!

  • Hey Max. I really love this video. I've been looking for good afro peruvian music for a while now. Could you reccomend any accessable groups?

  • @Bosphorus92 Thanks! Check out Arturo Zambo Cavero and Oscar Aviles, Susana Baca, Eva Ayllon , Lucilla Campos. All great singers and great music! Max

  • @dimsunk Cheers Max, will get on that! And your dvd, when I have the scratch! :)

  • @Bosphorus92 Cool, It's hard to give a short explanation of that groove . But I'll try, In my right hand and left foot I'm playing the rhythms that are played on the cajon. In my right hand I'm playing the cowbell patterns played by another person. I will make some videos explaining all these rhythms on each individual percussion instrument and then applied to the drumset. Working on that now. Take care, Max

  • @dimsunk Thanks! That'd be great Max. I'm either going to be moving over to Montreal for the music programme in concordia in September, or in January. I'd love to get a few lessons in latin rhythms from you man!

  • @Bosphorus92

Look for music from Peru Negro!

    Yours truly,

A Peruvian in love with afroperuvian music ;)

  • how would you count this?

  • nice!!!!

  • Mayoral.. interpretado por Lucila Campos ... la música afro peruana también está regida por la clave 6/8.

  • i like all of your videos but i'm especially impressed by this one because it's a relatively less-accessable genre of music and you seem really comfortable playing in it without breaking outside of the style. Bravo

  • Im curious, what is the name of the song you used in this video? AND I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY THIS! well done, your videos ROCK!

  • Éste podría ser uno de los videos más notables de la red en cuanto a la naturalidad y musicalidad de un verdadero baterista ¡¡¡awesome!!!

  • Ha!! So glad you knew what I was talking about! Thank you for the kind words. Likewise! I actually went to show your vid to Marko when he started laughing and typing that... So funky! Take care man! Maybe I'll be lucky enough to play with you, too one of these days..

  • I'm here with Egghead. He says he will snap your neck!!!

We think you sound killin' though!

  • @damianerskine Tell Egghead I'll crack him open and suck the life out of him and then I'll throw him in the garbage!!! I checked your vids out. Beautiful playing!!!! Say hi to the rotten egg for me. Max

  • wow this is good

  • I love your style choices and executions, Max. I really aspire to achieve that quality of sound from the minimal set-up. That's one of my favorite parts is that you needn't go over board with your kit. The skill shows through better with less.

  • Viva Peru Caraho!

    "U"

  • hell yea man...this is sweet!

    groove on brotha.

    MORE COWBELL lol

  • it reminds me rythmes of maghreb (morocco..).. we got a 12/8 played almost like this (but with less snare)
