Seemed to me that they did a great job of protecting the fire wall and didnt let the initial fire spread to the other apartments. Im sure that it seemed like they wernt doing anything, but if you have ever been insde the adjoining apartment, you would know they were were real busy. We old guys used to call it confining the fire. This fist part was gone anyway. Whats the big deal. Why get excited and all worked up when you dont have to. Nice job.
our dept has yellow for firefighter, red for lutenit (pardon the spelling lol) white for chief and assistant cheif, and blue is for the juniors in our junior firefighting program
i have a question when using a platform unit why would you use a a person doing defensive ops would it be better to save man power and wait till the platform is done to do defensive ops?
@jrff32 Tell me...exactly where would you have placed your trench cut? On the other side of that fire wall that is doing it's job? Go back to your essentials handbook, junior.
God bless you people, I could never in a million years walk INTO a burning building knowing that at ANY point a roof or floor could collapse onto or underneath me.
Should be. Its an apartment building..whether or not the water supply was shut off or not could be the reason the fire wasnt stopped in the insipiant stage and grew to fully developed
Nice job using that 2 1/2" with a tip. hopefully its a 1 1/4 with 50 psi NP equals 326 gpm, lots of good firefighting with that big line. Save your guy's, loop and sit on it like you are doing and control the fire. Sweet.
Big streams of water. How big is the hose the guy sitting on the ground is using? And at what point does firefighting go from work (puttiing out the fire) to becoming fun (using high pressure water streams to tear shit apart)? Haha.
2 1/2 in. And to answer your question...what they are doing in the middle of the video is a defensive attack...i hope...cuz they are putting a lot of water on the building...but defensive is usually when you use your bigger lines with more gpm and rip some shit apart..but its still a lot of work.
I could be wrong, I wasn't there, but I doubt the blue helmet was an explorer. When I ran with the fire department, our first and second safety officers had helmets that color.
Do these apartments share a common attic? I noticed the fire spread over the staircase but seemed to be all in the overhead. Great vid, and thank God for tower ladders!!
Where is this? It looks a lot like the fire we transported a guy from in Corunna Michigan. We didn`t get to see much of the fire job, a bit too busy treating the pt..
