  • very nice :)

  • I liked this playing very muh =)

  • The wood has a beautiful grain. I've never seen one that shape, though. I guess I have a lot to learn about these instruments.

I thought the head looked more like a camel.

  • an Igil?

  • is the belly made fo wood? also, are both strings tuned differently? whats the role of each?

  • the name of the song is " Altain magtaal"

    im a horsehead player myself

  • Where did you get it from?

  • the horsehead fiddle? i got it when i went to mongolia.

  • it looks like the kemence that is been use in Turkey at the black sea coust

  • give him his horse. Suho lovin his horse refused and tried to escape but the King ordered his men to shoot at them with arrows. Suho came away injured but his horse was killed. That made me cry soo hard! he was all alone with his dead horse but tyhen he had a dream when the horse came andtold him to make a fiddle from his bones so they could always be together. I love that story! It clearly had a big impact on me when I was little because I can still remember it in detail now.

  • if I got any parts of the story wrong anyone can feel free to correct me as this is only based off my five year old memory.

Dang! this is the longest comment ever. The whole point of it was to one tell people the story but to also say that Mongolia and its music has a place in my heart.

ok I'm done now. sry that I posted the first part twice. Thanks to anyone who bothered to read this whole thing! : )

  • yes, the story is right, :D

  • omg I LOVE Mongolia!!!!

When I was young like five or six my dad rented me this video from the library that was about Suho and his white horse. I don't remember it exactly but i think that Suho was this poor shepherd who had tamed the fastest coolest best nicest most loyal white horse evr. It would only ever let Suho ride him. because of his horse, Suho was trained to be a warrior by the king and he worked hard for him even though the king was greedy. Then one day the king commanded Suho to

  • You dont mean there's an actual video of that...? Cuz I'm constructing something for a project at school called 'The origin of the Morin Khuur'. Also about Sucho, the shepherd...

  • i think you're mistaken the sucho the shepherd. its not called sucho, his name was Sukh (Suh) it means Axe.

  • I'll rename him then. I've got this little book with a collection of mongolian tales. This was one of them. Wikipedia also stated another name. I guess the story I have has a lot of mistakes in it.

  • Okay I've searched with google, I only found the book and some broken links to what might have been the video. If you know where to find it, that would help a lot!

  • i saw your throat singing videos, and actually its quite good. where did you learn that? btw im an mongolian so if theres anything you need for your presentation just let me know

  • Thanks, I learnt it myself. I'm mostly looking for pictures of mongolia and mongolian people. I'm still looking for a king or prince from that time.

  • buy a used on ebay, or go to mongolia and buy one

  • I've requested one in mongolia, but I'm not gonna pay 800$ for just any MH...

Let's say i've got 70 years ahead of me to find one ;)

  • His playing is interesting and he has good steady bow technique, which I am told by some that play this instrument, is a challenge to keep steady. The Horsehead, the neck carvings, and the sound holes on this Tuvan Cello are outstanding. Very Mongolian looking horse, especially the snout. The sound holes are shaped like dragons and the neck carvings appear to be symbolic with some likely meaning or story behind them. 5/5 Stars.

  • good stuff :)

  • Very nice. I like it. Is he playing morin khuur ot ikel?

  • Maybe ikel because morin khuur has a different shaped sound box.

  • Beautiful music! Thanks for posting!
